Even Chuck is lauding MSU. I didn't realize things were this bad on the plantation. That damn BullyBloc...

Quote from Chuck:

"Don’t look now, but with all due respect to the powers at Ole Miss now, and with respect to interim Chancellor Larry Sparks, we have been rudderless for too long, mired in controversy and turmoil, and getting outdistanced in several areas by our in-state rival.

While I am not going to toot their horn too loudly, and still believe Ole Miss has an edge being the flagship university of this state, former Spirit Editor Jeff Roberson tried mightily to warn all Rebels a few years back about the Bully Block PAC and how it would affect politics in Mississippi in years to come. He was right – we have been outflanked politically in our state on many fronts.

While we concentrated on enrolling out of state students, MSU was/is steamrolling us recruiting Mississippi kids who have Mississippi pride and will go back home to live and prosper in this state while talking up the virtues of Mississippi State.

I get emails weekly from UM alums stating how their children or grandchildren receive regular correspondence from MSU and have never heard from Ole Miss.
The growth, prosperity, cooperation and vision of the leaders of the Golden Triangle has dwarfed our home base in recent years. I can’t tell you how many people have told me how much better and more welcoming the business climate and environment is around Starkville than it is around Oxford.

One of their missions is to “out do” Ole Miss in everything and they have taken advantage of a down time in our leadership and a down time in our athletics to move ahead in certain areas. Athletics are cyclical – that is a historical fact at just about every school, but for the time being, we are behind in many athletic areas.
While we want to say LSU is our chief rival, MSU makes no bones about it – they want to beat Ole Miss, and it is that attitude that has allowed them to catch up with, and in some instances surpass, us.

My bottom line is that this is no time to be bashful. We need to get involved politically and we must do whatever we have to do to make sure a dynamic chancellor is hired, one who will lead us out of this stale period in our history and restore some positive energy to our alumni base and students.
Ole Miss has got to wake up."

I don’t live in MS, but has our Bully PAC really been that impactful? I’m guessing what he really means is that politically they use to have a large advantage, and now we’ve equalized that some.

I'm pretty sure the Bully Bloc PAC is more of a long-term thing to have more State-friendly people in MS government. While I don't know much about the BB PAC, I can confidently say it had little to nothing to do with State's current athletic (or academic) success or OM's current failures.

I can see OM people are starting to use the Bully Bloc as an excuse.

This shows how insecure they are. No other school in any state refers to themselves as “flagship”.

All State all the time for them. He even had to throw in a sentence or two about LSU for cover.

Yes, life was much easier for them when every governor, legislator, judge, and dog catcher in the state graduated from Ole Miss.

**yaaaaaaaawwwwwnnnnnnn**

It's hilarious how desperately they've latched on to this "flagship" crap. Maybe if they weren't such entitled pricks things would be going better for them.

This is the part that kills me. They’re convinced BullyBloc is responsible for their failures. They’ve convinced themselves who to vote for based solely on the school affiliation of the candidates.

But the biggest difference in our gain politically is Mark Keenum and his team. He’s made good, strategic decisions and hires, and is very well respected in Jackson by Dawgs and Rebs alike.

Even he doesn’t believe that ****. It’s just a rallying cry. Same **** our fans spewed for years and still do.

Fact is State and Ole Miss both work to get in state kids pretty hard. They do go about it differently.

When one school goes through a year of losing all or most games to their rival, and you throw in the fact that they were on your home campus, sports fans think something is off in the universe. Fact is, most of this is attributable to their horrible former AD, the self inflicted NCAA investigation, boosters in the boardrooms, and luck.

Getting Luke off the sideline and some fresh ideas in the Chancellor and AD role will turn this around. But it’s just as likely they keep the same tired way of thinking right where it is.

Pray they stay the same.

We have made a ton of strides as a university over the last twenty years and they have made a lot of questionable calls over the last twenty years. We have done very well under Mark Keen7ms leadership and ole Doc Foglesong got the athletics side going with the removal of Larry Templeton and hiring good ADs afterwards who had bigger visions. We have recruited in state kids much better and my buddy in Texas has two neighbors sending their kids to our fine university for engineering. I think Ole Miss won’t fix their issues until they realize they are not close to aLSU type program. Can’t fix something if you can’t diagnose the problem

Delusion at its finest right there, Chuck! What a moron. They want to blame our success on their failures!! They still think it’s the 1960’s and they believe EVERYONE wants to go to Ole Miss.

How arrogant and ridiculous to us to talk about LSU being their real rival, in an attempt to try and make us feel irrelevant and second tier to them. ******** CHUCK!! First off, LSU doesn’t give to flying17’s about Ole Miss. You are completely irrelevant to them and I k ow because I work in LA 80% of the time for the past 10 years. And what MSU does each and every day, is what drives all of them crazy!

Your attempt to be the Harvard of the south has cost you dearly and that is the arrogance and poor leadership. You were basically cheating on your wife by saying you aren’t good enough for me so I will look elsewhere to make myself feel better. Brick, meet the brick wall! I’m literally laughing my *** off at you, as is the rest of the country!

Fear not - they have a progressive new chancellor candidate preferred by power wielding boosters that will bravely move them forward into the 1970's!

We can only hope this is the case....wait, wrong words. Take out the only in that 1st sentence. Miss State will be fine no matter who they get to run that rudderless dingy up there.

The self proclaimed “flagship” crap bugs me a lot. Real flag ship universities are designated by the state. Like LSU. Ole Miss never claimed this until a few years ago. I have actually talk to Dr. Keenum about this but he said there is nothing he can do. If you Google this, a few years ago there was no evidence at all for the Ole Miss Bond flagship . Now there are some postings in wickipedia. I need one of you to help me counter this. .
