This is garbage. The umps meet before our AB and say play ball. When Small comes out in the bottom half, it’s suddenly too bad to play.

No worse than when they had a meeting and decided to start the 6th inning.

That’s my only issue. I’d love to know what criteria they used to suddenly decide that it was too foggy to play about 8 minutes after they met at home plate

Would only matter if we totally lost Saturday and had to play 2 on Sunday. I don't recall ever finishing up a partial game then playing a DH. Or would they finish up this game as 9 then just play one 9?

They would only finish this game and then play a 9 inning game if the rest of tonight is done and Saturday is a washout

Look, I hate it at least as much as anybody else, but to me it did look worse, which makes sense because it had been getting steadily worse. Plus, there is no way Ole Miss makes this call. It's either the umpiring crew or Birmingham.

As far as an OM guy coming onto the field between innings, it wouldn't surprise me if he'd been on the phone with Birmingham the whole time since the ump called. I'm guessing B told them to stand by in case they decided it had gotten too risky.

To me, the below implies game over if can't continue before next scheduled game. So, are we official or no?

This game would have to be completed before they start game 2 of the series. If they cannot play tonight, game 1 picks up in bottom of 6th in next available playable date.

No it's actually an atmospheric phenomenon known only to Oxford. It's a byproduct of warm beer shower vapors mixing with the swampgas of Sardis backwaters and Oxford's air of desperation and impersonation.

That is some straight up plantation ******** there.

Here's the rule:

"The home institution’s Athletics Director or designated senior level administrator shall have the authority to determine whether a contest should, prior to its start, be temporarily delayed until a later time on the
same date. Once a contest has started, the decision to suspend play is the responsibility of the game officials."

This is the correct answer. The rule is completely different than the MLB rule. This game will be resumed where it left off, whether that's later tonight, tomorrow before game 2, or Sunday before game 2.

So what was up with the chubby shark in the blue shirt? It sure looked like he came running out there as Small was taking warm ups and said.. Um hey, guys.. they told me to come tell you we think it's too foggy to play now. Mmk?

I don't know what was up with that guy and haven't seen any of the game. But I can promise you blacklisted is right. The head umpire called the delay.
