Was just about to post this.
That would be hell of a Super in StarkVegas!
Not sure I would really want that but depending on what happens this weekend I may change my mind.

So they've got Southern Miss making their second trip to Vegas this year.

Some kind of odd things in that link. They have Tennessee in their “last 5 in”. Tennessee is #10 in the RPI. No way are they anywhere close to the cut line. If they win 5 of their last 6 in SEC play and take their midweek games, they may even be hosting.

Tennessee is 10-14 in conference with a series at Florida & Ole Miss in Knoxville remaining. They have to win 3 maybe 4 of those 6 to avoid playing for their NCAA life in Hoover.

Conference record matters, look at Kentucky last year. You can’t be four games under .500 in league play and expect to be safely in.

Yeah but Kentucky last year was #31 in the RPI with the #21 SOS, and a 34-22 record. UT is #10 RPI, #2 SOS, and currently a 33-16 record. Not really a valid comparison at all. I can’t see them ever leaving out a Top 20 RPI team unless they are below .500 (if that is even possible with how the record factors into the formula). UT almost has to lose out to not make it.

They’ve got to win one of the last two series, especially considering one is against fellow bubble team Florida. They aren’t getting in at 12-18 or worse, 13-17 would probably get them in but not for certain.

North Carolina was left out in 2016 with an RPI of 19, 13-17 in conference, 34-21 overall.

I think they are 100% in at 13-17. They would still have a Top 20 RPI (maybe even Top 15) and would have 37 wins overall (not including any they pick up in Hoover). Compare 37-20 / #20 RPI / 13-17 SEC to UK’s resume last year when they just barely didn’t make it. It’s a no brainer. I think they’d have a 50/50 shot at 12-18 too, but would need some wins in Hoover.

On the flip side of this UGA went in 02 with a top 10 RPI a record of 32-29 and 15-15 in conference. Then again went in with another top 10 RPI in 11 with a record of 33-22 and 16-14 in conference.

The key for UT is a .500 conference record or close given their RPI is top 10 and SOS is #1.They can't slip up this weekend.
