If you gotta have BBQ I’d say Crossroads. But I’d recommend going to Blue Canoe if you’re really hungry.

Bishop's is, to me, highly overrated. I wouldn't even call it average. It's the only BBQ I have ever tried n Tupelo. If that's even close to the best BBQ Tupelo has, try something else. My favorites up there are U&Me Asian Grocery, Kermit's Outlaw Kitchen, The Amsterdam Deli, Woody's, and the Neon Pig.

I'm the same, Bishops is good, but it's nothing I'd even drive across town for. My buddy owns Rib Shack but he's doesn't read SPS so it's about like Bishops.

Thought about Blue Canoe but the parking lot was jammed up when I drove by. I went on down to Cross Roads and wished I’d a gone to the Neon Pig.

Ribs were an 8 but the brisket and sides were a 4.

Neon Pig and Kermit's Outlaw Kitchen are my recommendations. I'll probably hit Kermit's myself this weekend.

The burger at KOK is really good. I know it's the same meat as Neon Pig, but I think cooking it on the open wood fire gives it a better flavor than the being cooked on the griddle at the Pig.

The Beane family that owns it are big Bulldog supporters and usually furnish food to MSU events in Tupelo.

Will be with a group of 4 in Tupelo tonight for a concert at Bancorp. Any recs around the arena without a ridiculous wait? I was thinking about taking the crew to Blue Canoe. I’ve never been but have heard good things.

The Stables is a bar about a block from BCS Arena that has better than average food....if you like Italian, there's the Nautical Whimsey on Main Street another block further west (3 block walk from BCS). The servings are huge & the food is fantastic.

BC is my local favorite (it's not walking distance from the arena). Don't be scared off by the parking lot like OP was - it always looks packed from the outside, never know until you go in. Fairpark Grill & Mugshots are right near the arena but would likely be packed, don't know if you can call early & make a reservation. Nautical Whimsey and the new Vanelli's are nearby as well. I'd guess KOK would be really long wait. There's a new fish & steak in the area too, but haven't been there so no clue what it's like. Woody's & Neon Pig would be good too if you don't care to be within walking distance of the arena.

Whatever you do, be sure to go by Crave afterwards for desert if it's not too late. They're open till midnight.

Near the arena there is Mugshots, The Grill, Barbeque by Jim, and The Stables. The Stables is just a joint in an alley but like another poster said their food is definitely better than you would expect and there usually isn't much of a wait. The Grill will be slammed with people most likely so that would be your longest wait for sure.

Same source, but not exactly the same blend as the smash (my all-time favorite hamburger blend). The fire does make a big difference in flavor though. Plus the fries are great.
