Really impressed with your pitching.

The bottom of our lineup is BAD right now, and I suspect that after 1-4, it will look nothing like this by the end of the year. For example, if our 8 and 9 guys are still in the lineup in May, something will have gone very wrong.

That said, our 1-4 is legit. Wallner is a likely first-round pick. Slater and Guidry will have outstanding years and get drafted in higher-to-middle rounds (Slater will, at least). And Montenegro is a really solid, high IQ, pesky hitter. The fact that your pitchers have shut them down is REALLY impressive.

Your hitting: This is probably going to be our worst staff in the last several years...and pitching is always one area where we will never be able to match top conferences. I see a lot being made about last night. I don't think the problem was that you were swinging early in the count. The problem was the swings that you were taking. You got a few hard hit, at 'em balls early and decided to try to knock the cover out of every ball because he was throwing strikes that didn't have a ton of velo. Problem is that he has a lot of sink and run on his pitches, and the wind was blowing in. Your hitters tried to do too much. I think your lineup will be fine but wouldn't be surprised if Powell is the type of pitcher who gives you guys some issues this year.

We will probably be a middle-to-low 2-seed in a regional this year (rather than a 1 or high-2 seed like the last few years). If you guys win tomorrow, this will probably have gone how I expected (with the exception of us winning a low-scoring game).

Yeah, I don't know what is going on there.

He struggled to end the season last year, didn't make the cut for the USA National Team, and struggled in the Cape. I am a little concerned about him pressing early this year.

Plus, he's spent his entire career sandwiched between high-level hitters. And then throw in the fact that I suspect (can't get in his head) that he takes games against ya'll personally. Not necessarily because of the in-state thing (he's from Minnesota) but because of the regional and how he played (e.g., dropped fly ball).

Berry said in the CL today that pitching will be your strength.

Did they ever find out how the Golden Eagle died while under your care? I've always wondered what the real story was.

I remember mentioning this on the old Jeans page just hacking on a USM guy. The guy got legit mad and explained the whole story. And although it was a legit accident, I replied with. "So you starved him to death?"

In all fairness, if last year taught us anything, it's how we stack up with USM in an early season series is critical to our postseason prospects.

Something was made of financial woes back then. Maybe eagle food was cut from the budget during that time.

Damn this board can be brutal! Truly, I didn't see anything wrong with his post. Sure, he talked a little about his team, but it was within context, and he did talk about ours in pretty complimentary terms.

But hey...many eat our own on this board for sport, so blasting a mustard-buzzard shouldn't be a shock to anyone, regardless of what he/she posts I suppose.

If he explained the whole story, could you relay that to us? I find it hard to believe (even though we’re dealing with USM), that they could just accidentally forget to feed an endangered species under their care.

This thread is a mild example of how human beings can go from having a minor disagreement to placing heads in a freezer for later braising in a short amount of time.

I have to agree with most others' take. The guy clearly said, "outsiders view on your team" but simply critiqued USM. I didn't get anything out of his view of our team except that our top pitching staff is really impressive and bottom is bad.

Just because he also included stuff about his team doesn't mean he didn't give his view on ours. And the stuff he said about his team was largely in context to how our team matched up and played vs them.
