Baseball season will be here before you know it. Wanted to make a few predictions and hope others join in.
1 UP- Jake Magnum. I think he'll hit close to .450 this season and have one of the greatest years in bulldog history.
1 Down- Elijah McNamee- I think he'll struggle more than people think this season and put Coach Lemonis in a tough position, with both Jordan and Mangum for sure guys in the outfield and some talent waiting in the wings, If Mac struggles like he did at the start of last season it'll put the new head man in a bind.
2 UP- Small and James will be a better 1-2 combo than Small and Pilkington. I think James is a diamond in the rough that will have a heck of a year and I expect small, 2 full years removed from major surgery to improve upon his season last year as well.
2 DOWN- JT Ginn. Listed now as a probable weekend starter, I see him struggling and again forcing the staff into a tough decision as to keep him in the rotation or moving to the pen. I predict he'll in the pen by mid SEC play. He wasn't as dominate as he should have been on the mound as a high school pitcher and rumor was he didn't go play professional baseball because he wanted to continue to hit.
3 UP- Justin Foscus- I expect him to make the biggest leap of the current sophomores that saw action this year and have an all-sec caliber season. I see him being a 3-4 hole hitter for us and making huge strides at the plate.
3 DOWN- Team defense: I think we are going to struggle in the middle infield bad this season. Its a major concern for me, as is our catching position.
BONUS UP: I think Riley Self is a monster out of the pen this season and could lead the SEC in saves.
Lets here some others thoughts on the upcoming season. Cant wait to be at the Dude!
