Great stats. One thing that really jumped out at me other than the obvious about Dak’s success, is Troy Aikman’s rushing numbers are almost equal to Dak on a YPC basis. That’s hard to believe....I don’t remember him being that nimble. I believe that was back when sacks were still counted against rushing yards too, so that makes it even more impressive.

Comparing dak to aikman is useless imo. The passing environment now is totally different... WRs used to get absolutely mugged and laid out with brutal hits. QBs also used to be fair game.

Aikman also played on some downright awful teams early in his career. Wasn't he the starting QB when they went 1-15 I believe his rookie year?

You’ll have to compare Dak to the other young QBs in the league to find much value.

Those stats are why Aikman seems to have a Dak-hate approach to his commentary. Aikman had a HOF running back and HOF wr to throw to, but his early year struggles playing on a **** team is what he's so pissed about. He sees Daks early year success compared to his early year failures and thinks folks might compare them and conclude Dak is better. OBVIOUS faults in his thinking, but that's why he continually ***** on Dak. If that ain't his reason and it's personal then he's more of a ******** than I've always thought....not that there's anything wrong with that.

I'll say this. Troy Aikman is one of the most over rated QBs of all time. Granted it was a different time, but his career average was 199 yds/game.

The 5 largest guaranteed QB contracts in the NFL + Dak through age 25 season.

Dak looking decent in Comp Pct , Yards Per Attempt and TDs + Rushing TDs(given the season isn't over).

Stafford threw a ridiculous number of passes.

I hate to play this card and never do but this time I think it's warranted. You never hear an announcer critique Wentz or Goff like they do Dak. Cowboys' fans are on Dak's case no matter what he does because he's not Aikman or Romo. They hated Romo when he played now they go out of their way to compare them and say Romo didn't have the defense supporting him that Dak does. It's baffling. So you have to ask yourself. Is it partly because Dak doesn't look like the other qb's mentioned? I'm starting to question it.

Stafford must have started a year younger than the rest. In that chart Stafford has 13-16 more games than Dak, Ryan, and Luck. So it's likely First 4 seasons for Stafford vs First 3 seasons for Dak, Ryan, and Luck.

those sack numbers for Cousins and Rogers are crazy. I assume they had an offensive line like Dak's first year.

When people discuss the greatest QBs to ever play the game, how long does it take for Aikman’s name to come up? A long damn time. Yes, he won championships, but I’ve never considered that to be the barometer of greatness. Does anybody really consider Eli Manning a better quarterback than Dan Marino or Drew Brees? Exactly. I think deep down, Aikman knows that too.

I dont' know about the announcers, but for the fans, I think it's just fans being fans. Granted, you had only the biggest dumbasses complain about Dak while he was here, but there were a few (I think I remember the moniker check-down charlie), and then people bitched about Fitz not being Dak and also pining for his backup, and next year they'll be bitching that his backup isn't Fitz.

It's funny to see the fan reactions whether Dak has a good or bad game. If he plays good - people are convinced he's a top 5 QB. If he plays bad - people are convinced he won't be starting in 2 years. Had this discussion recently and my opinion was he'll be a starter for 10 more years, but only time will tell how he's judged. It's crazy the reactions people have after every game, or even good / bad quarters.

He's going to have some good games and bad games. He's good enough that he won't lose the starting job because of a few bad games, but he's not been doing this long enough to be considered an elite QB. I hope he continues to improve the way great QBs do, and would love to see him wins some playoff games. But regardless, I'd just say enjoy watching the greatest QB to ever come through MSU for however long we can.

Good point. Elway was/is my QB hero, but damn did he have some awful games especially early on. The Good Manning wasn't great his last SB win either; the D was.

Both HOFers.

Hell, I don't take anything Troy says with a grain of salt. Dude sometimes doesn't act like he knows where he is. It is very surprising how he acts about Dak with they being said. . I've always loved Troy even though he was kinda zoned out at times but he always seemed like a great guy. Maybe he a just pissed with the organization, who knows.
