As I said, we need to know who he is responsible for as the primary recruiter. 17.

He is at least possibly leaving for an upward move and not a lateral one. We lose a lot on Defense but still have a lot coming back too. We'll be okay.

have to say i'm not really surprised. thought this earlier in the year that he would use this talented defense to springboard himself to another job. hopefully Moorhead and Cohen talk him out of it. If he produces big again next year, he could be looking at a much better gig than UMASS.

I somewhat doubt the HC job at UMass pays more than the DC position at State. So upward move is relative.

We need to get this handled today. Cohen, get a deal done. I want moorhead and shoop locked down for the future. Got to put our money where our mouth is. Got to have some consistancy for 5 years to build what we want.

Current UMass HC makes about $500,000.

Shoop made 1.15 million at UT & 1 million at Penn St (can’t find his current salary).

just hope it doesn't cause a 2014 incident like with Collins. Our defense played like garbage that game and I suspect our coordinator was distracted with the Florida DC job he eventually got. Or this could be ole miss tricks. What's the strongest part of our team? The Defense. Do they want them distracted? yep!

That job could be a career ender. Very tough to win as a Div. I-A independent, unless you're a national brand like Notre Dame, BYU or Army.

I feel like Shoop can do a lot better than that for a HC gig. He could probably get a high Group of 5 or low Power 5 type of job. Bowling Green, Rutgers, Maryland, etc. I don’t understand why he would take a big pay cut to coach at one of the worst jobs in the FBS that also has no conference affiliation.

17 it. Let Simmons and Errol Thompson handle it. They would get it done, I imagine..

It wouldn’t be egg bowl week without some rumors of several of our coaches leaving

He would have and I’m sure already has been noticed as HC material before arriving at State. Being mentioned does not mean he’s applied. The asst. coaching ranks are full of future head coaches. There are only so many good spots to go around and it takes a particular type to really want the job. I would be more concerned by a sideways move for $1.5 million. There aren’t many HC positions that pay more than that. He’s already been a HC with a record of 7-23.

It's a chance for something greater down the road but I don't want more responsibility for less pay. Just depends on what he hopes transpires from it. I would not personally view more responsibility and 1/2 the pay as a step up.

From what I know, I don't think JoMo went with Jimmy Sexton. He'll learn. Sexton is a conniving SOB that works against head coaches that aren't in his stable i.e. Dom Molene's first 6 years weren't with Sexton. Sexton loves to get rumors started that hurts those that aren't with him and he'll continue this until either JoMo leaves, gets fired, or joins Sexton. Just prepare yourselves.

Pay him $2 million. So easy. That makes him impossible to poach by anyone other than a Power 5 hiring a HC....in which case you just have to let him go. And again, we’d still be paying him and Moorhead LESS than we paid Mullen and Grantham two years ago when we had less money. This isn’t that hard unless Cohen really is LT part II with the piggy bank.

Probably closer to 1/3 the pay since it's in Massachusetts.

It may not be money, hes a millionaire anyway. He might wanna try his hand in being a HC before it’s too late.

I hope that’s not the reason and money will suede him for sure tho

Maybe we are going about this all wrong.

Instead of spending Bulldog Club money on coach’s salaries, we need to use some of that money to build a Dogwood Festival or Renaissance level shopping development!

He’s the best in the business and has been for a long time.

He wants to be a head coach money won't matter. If he gets offered he leaving. It's not like he's starving w past money he's made.
