I attended my first state game with my dad in 1978 and sat there watching Dave Marler shred the vaunted Alabama defense in Legion Field. State got their asses handed to them that day but my fuse was lit. Since that day in 1978 for the past 40 years I like most of you have lived and died with Bulldog athletics. I graduated from state, met my wife at state, my kids will attend state, and I will forever until my last day be a Bulldog. Today I woke with a state of numbness. Numbness to what I have witnessed in following my beloved dogs for the past 40 years. I told my kids Saturday night, im sorry. It would have been so easy being a bama fan growing up in Alabama at the height of the bear’s reign. I chose a different path and I’m sorry I made it difficult for them. They have my same fervor for the dogs. It’s in their blood. From tommy Wilcox in 81 to the abomination of offensive play calling in 2018, I’m numb. Not comfortably numb, numb that comes from the inside and permiates trough my core. Cohen will ultimately bear this decision. Only at State could something this numbing occur.
