New rule states coolers over 10" x 10" x 10" are prohibited.

90% of all coolers that people usually bring in are now prohibited.

*doesn't apply to coolers brought in before the gates open (aka rig owners)

Given the clear bag policy for all other sports, I'm actually pleasantly surprised.

Nobody is going to be policing cowbells.

Yeah, whoever set that rule needs to revisit to at least allow 20qt if not your average 30qt soft sides. As is, all Rtic/yeti/ozark trail soft sides are technically not legal. Even the 12 can ozark breaks this rule.

Kinda lucky that they allow them at all. I can't think of any other sports facilitites that allow coolers (but there many be many ... I just don't know of any).

Talladega used to allow coolers last time I went in the 90s. Each gate had a piece of plywood with a 14" x 14" square cut-out that your cooler had to fit through to bring it into the grand stands.

They allowed full size cooler until 9/11 happened. I'll never forget all the homemade tshirts that said "we ain't no terrorists. give us our damn coolers back." I saw 50 of them.

But NASCAR isn't a sport. **

Put some people in charge and they automatically prove their incompetence.

The last time I went to 'dega (about 10 years ago), they had these steel contraptions, and your cooler had to fit inside them. There was a giant pile of empty coolers what wouldn't fit that people were just abandoning at the gate. Folks were stuffing beer in their pockets and any sort of bag they could find.

You see a lot of things at Talladega that you never see anywhere else.
