but good friends with Cochran....its why he didn't run against him last time.....personally, Id rather see Pickering as Governor and leave fat kid tate at home

Mississippians are about to learn the hard way how much Cochran did for the State financially...... We all knew it was coming eventually, but it has been about 50 years since Mississippi lacked a senior appropriator.

It will not be Keenum. Our only hope of having a good Senator is if Tate will do it. Other than that, McDaniel will beat whoever is appointed so we'd have a Senator who literally vows to do nothing for the state.

Hearing the special election will be in November, same time as the regular election. So, McDaniel will have to choose which seat he's running for and who he's running against. Won't get two bites at the apple.

McDaniel has already qualified to run against Roger Wicker. Will he drop out of that race? Phil Bryant could appoint himself.

**** he hasn’t done too much. He’s got a few buildings with his name on it on college campuses but what else? Jackson is the biggest ******** capital in the Country. The State is still broke as hell. Still practically last in every imaginable category. Where did the money go?

Let’s see. Ship building at Ingalls, major military bases kept open when they could have been shuddered. Stennis space Center funding. He made it a priority and made it where nasa couldn’t live without it. Lots of **** you don’t think about. Like expanded funding for Doppler radar in Mississippi. I could keep going, but you get the picture. Or maybe you still don’t. Idk

This is why Mississippi is a ******-up State. In other States, they don't rely on political hacks to help their economy. In Mississippi, everybody is so geeked up on how much tax-payer money they can bring to our State.

If the State of Mississippi would get over their love-affair with Gubmin-funded money, maybe the State would finally get off the bottom of the the economic rung.

I hope to God it isnt Keenum. Since he took over MSU, we have fallen in overall perception. We went from the mid 120s in US News and World Report to almost 200 in a matter of a few years. And don't tell me it's funding since Ole Miss barely moved. He is much ado about nothing and has been hustling for a political job for years. He's our administrations answer to Dan Mullen.

I want MS to succeed, but with our history of poor political leadership, there isn't much of a chance. We're last in all the good stuff and first in all the bad. I see no hope for the future of the state, there is no visionary leader on the horizon. Those who can will continue to leave, those who can't will stay, compounding the problem. In about 30 years, MS will be the first majority black state, it will be interesting to see how majority black leadership works at the state level, it can't be much worse than what we have now.

Legalizing the growth of marijuana and raising it in the rich delta soil would be a good start in turning our fortunes around, but our legislature can't even pass a lottery. How many dollars travel over to neighboring states each week just in that endeavor?
