This is it guys. We are watching the next era of UK basketball.

It doesn't matter who you wanted on Thursday, whether you liked Cal or not. What matters is Mark Pope, our guy, our NCAA champion is OUR coach. He knows what UK basketball means more than most any of us and he WANTS TO BE HERE.

Let's get ready for caring about KENTUCKY again. Nothing else matters.

Yeah - the more I read about Pope, his energy, his character, his family, his love of Kentucky, the more I’m beginning to see what Barnhart saw and why he stepped out and made such a out-of-left field hire.

I hope he’s successful. All I know is that for the first time in over four years, I’m really excited about Kentucky basketball. This next couple of months and next year are going to be extremely exciting and definitely interesting.

I was in the the arena the day Happy gave this performance. I remember watching them bring him out in his wheelchair. With assistance he gingerly pulled himself up from the chair to stand at center court with the microphone cradled between both hands. And then he belted out this phenomenal rendition of our state’s anthem. His booming crescendo to close the song about lifted the roof off the arena. It was SPECTACULAR to hear and see live, and the video never gets old. There will never, ever be one better.

Love it. All the best coach. IDK what's ahead, but it'll just feel good to watch a Kentucky "team" again.
