These coaches they are going after haven’t reached out to Cal to ask what is really going on behind the scenes with this administration then you aren’t seeing the whole picture.

Tight knit community and a lot of friendships off the court with these coaches. Relationships we can begin to imagine.

I bet Cal is just telling the truth when asked.

This job should’ve been filled within 24 hours. Without a doubt.

It’s a sh*t show and we are now truly realizing how bad it is.

Just my 2 cents.

I had that thought too. Cal is gone but he’s likely not done killing what little he left behind of the program.

My hope is that other coaches see him the way the rest of us do.

Guy on the GYERO thread is pretty connected. He says cal is smearing UK and Mitch behind the scenes. It's making rounds in the nike circuit. He took shots at the Craft's yesterday too. With his love the govenor comment.
If true it makes Cal a huge dickhead. I’d hope any coach worth his salt would do his own due diligence with Mitch and make an informed decision on his own about the job and not rely on sour grapes from the scorned previous coach.

It's true. He called stuff before it happened yesterday. No doubt in my mind. Drew also said he called an SEC coach and asked if his kids were safe to go to school after a loss. Guess which coach he called? My money is on Cal.

I can’t figure out why so many think it’s a “**** show”, and the job should have been filled by now. It’s been four days. Four! Do we want it done quickly, or done right?
This is true. I had to remind myself it hasn’t even been a full week.

Not sure this is the reason Drew and Hurley turned us down, but it doesn’t shock me that this is going on

I'm not saying you are wrong or arguing with you, but it would be really hard to imagine Drew and Cal as friends. Lol

Ok, respectfully and this is just me playing devils advocate but if this dude is so connected why is he posting his tidbits on gyero and not the hoops board for a broader audience who would certainly appreciate the info more? 🤷‍♂️

#1 you're a poser. Probably UL fan. Your post count for 9 years is pathetic.

#2 what's he gonna say? Yeah they let me do whatever i wanted but i stopped winning so they wanted me to be more accountable. LOL yeah boo hoo!

Hilarious seeing people jumping off the bridges already.

I always thought he would try destroy the program to make his arrogant self look good. He was always about Cal not UK

It’s been 48 hours and have only offered 2 people. One being a coach coming from back to back championships and where his family is all from the northeast and another who doesn’t want that responsibility and his wife is an introvert and can’t handle the pressure.

Plenty of other fish in the sea. Stop freaking out just because people are throwing terrible names like Pope out there.

This rumors start from their agents trying to get more money. We will be fine. Geesh!

Cal doesn’t need to bad mouth the Kentucky coaching position, it’s evident that the fanbase has been less than appreciative of his results the past few seasons.
We’ve all seen people in the media, other coaches, and former players defend Cal the past 3-4 years. This should have been a signal to the UK admin that a separation from Cal was not going to be easy

In a sport where success is developed through corporate sponsorship having a dedicated fanbase does more harm than good. None of these regular Joe's have the money to battle with corporate interests but they sure as **** can contribute to a toxic environment for players and coaches. It used to be the celebrity status is what brought guys, that doesn't matter anymore. Why come here and get harassed by a bunch of overweight 40 year old white guys that don't contribute to NIL when you can go elsewhere and get bankrolled by a billion dollar conglomerate and not deal with the creepers.

Cal should be telling the other coaches you don't have to win for a number of years and yet they'll still pay you 9 million a year to just roll the balls out at practice.

I get what you are saying, but if Cal is telling them the truth that’s the first time in his life he’s ever done so, so I doubt it. I’m sure he’s absolutely exaggerating to make it 10 times worse than reality. That I would believe.

The truth is: Cal was a terrible athletic director, he did not hold the coach accountable!

I guess I’m not panicking and thinking our name is mud just yet. It’s disappointing that all of our big swings missed, but all of the candidates we’ve been known to have contacted had special circumstances. Oats had the buyout, Drew is a deeply religious family man firmly established at a religious school, and Hurley was never coming to the point that I’m not so sure that making a big show of throwing money bags at him wasn’t counterproductive. There’s still a lot of really good coaches out there who might be available if we play it smart though. The next few days may be telling for how desperate we really are at this point.

God forbid a blueblood program have fans with expectations. I bet they don't feel the same way in Lawrence, Chapel Hill, or Durham, eh? Just ole psychopathic Kentucky.

Don't feed the trolls.

Even the trolls know UK wouldn't have a program if the fans didn't attend the games the way they do all over the country and hemisphere. If they want to act ignorant, let them do it quietly and without attention.

If corporate NIL is the only future for college basketball and the fans mean nothing, then we can just shut the doors of the Craft center now and not bother with hiring a new coach.

It isn't the only future because corporate sponsorship is still nothing without eyes to see it. The program is not run solely on corporate sponsorships, but fannies in the seats and eyes on the broadcasts. If fans aren't watching, then there are ZERO reasons to sponsor a program. Ad revenue dries up.

If it becomes that kind of model, however, a new model for something like what it used to be will emerge, and the people that love it as it was will tune out the new and return to the old. Don't worry though, because there will always be trolls

My thoughts exactly. I don't think it helped anything. Even the MB haters won't be calmed by him being offered a big sum, so why do it? He clearly wasn't coming because he could barely get his wife to move to Rhode Island for the OTHER job he was never going to leave. Lol

If you think a man like Scott Drew gives a flip about what Cal thinks or has to say..... I don't know man. Same with Danny Hurley he's on top of the world and as confident as any man coaching.
