Their new TV service is simply an app on an Apple TV/Fire/Roku that delivers all their channels via their fiber network.

$65/mo including locals...that comes with 50 hour Cloud DVR, and 1 stream. Streams can be added a $5/stream/month.

Anyone got it yet?

I''ve been looking into it and spoke with a rep yesterday who informed me they've presently suspended that service due to an ongoing negotiation with a part of Amazon so I didn't sign up just yet. That service, although a little pricey, may be the best out of all of them. Their channel list has everything I'm interested in although their higher priced ($20 more then most) it does provide live local channels, a better on screen guide then the others and a DVR. It'll still be $70 less a month then what I was paying with dish.

That would cost more than my bill with dish. Needs to be about 20 dollars less a month

Got it, love it, done with set top boxes forever. The price is worth it, its got everything and you don't have to compromise on anything. Recording all my favorite shows or going back in time and watching them since they all auto record for free, and watching on my laptop wherever I am.

I just got tired of going through what all I had to give up to get what I wanted at a lower price. Sony, Sling, DirectTV, Hulu, etc all make you give up something to get the lower price. C Spire TV is just what you have always had but at a constant non-introductory price. Picture quality is better than every other choice as well. Youtube will be a nice choice when it's available but you still have to give up things to get it. $70 is a good fair price and more than worth all the channels and features C Spire TV gives you, it's a no brainer to me.

Ah, didn't know they suspended the service.

Why would they be in negotiations with Amazon though? They don't restrict 3rd party apps on their platform and all their original content is strictly on Amazon Prime Video.

Honestly don't know but that's what this rep said, can't believe them half the time so who knows. I'm probably going to speak to them again tomorrow see if I get the same response

How is does that cost more then dish? Their current cheapest package is about $50 and that doesn't include set top boxes, maintenance, other fees and missing certain channels

Look at a final bill. Regional sports and broadcast tv fees and other fees. $50 isn't $50. That's the fish hook price.

i've got a couple of questions....

1. Ive never fully understood "1 stream" .....does that mean 1 TV? So if I have 4 TVs in my house, will i need 4 streams? or realistically 3? me, kids, wife...

2. Do you have to have Cspire fiber to get Cspire TV?

3. I currently pay around $255 a month for Direct TV, with 4 boxes, dvr, att internet, and att unlimited home phone.....ive been looking at all the cord cutting options and can't pull the trigger just yet....

my concerns:
1. i still have to have a home land line for my work, and wife's work purposes.
2. I haven't found a tv guide worth a **** on the ones I've looked at (surprisingly DTV is good at this). I had a streaming service at a condo i rented back in early june for a work function....the tv guide was so ******, i didn't even continue to watch tv the rest of the time i was there.

3. What about data restrictions for your ISP? could they cut you off or tack on to your bill for going over data? or does this even exist?

psst. Don't interrupt these "cord cutters." The more the merrier. Eventually those of us too lazy and too damn stupid to fool with all that mcgyver level ******** will benefit from the competition that drives down the price of normal satellite service.

Hey pmack65,
I am the product manager for C Spire TV. I hope you or your fellow board members don't mind me popping in and answering some questions and clearing up any confusion...

We worked out our issues with the Amazon Fire TV platform and are back to rolling out the service. C Spire TV is not a cord cutter service. We have built a platform that delivers a full featured tv experience with few if any compromises. Pricing may 'seem' higher than many most often because we have chosen to not play the bait and switch intoductory offer games sadly many in our industry play. There are no longer term contracts for our C Spire TV service. And full disclosure, our $65 standard package does not include taxes and fees. In Starkville this means about $6 extra a month we send directly to your local broadcast stations to have the privilege of distributing their free, over the air signal.

Hi Rog - we had a couple small issues with hardware compatibility that we corrected over the weekend. The last thing we wanted was to roll out an experience that might disappoint early adopters.

Thanks for the kind words. Our tv experience is now 100% software driven. You can expect consistent improvements and great new features. If you have any suggestions on how to improve the service, please make a post at http://cspiretv.uservoice.com

Hi Baretta - here are some quick answers

1) streams are concurrent video streams on different devices. You don't need a stream for each TV necessarily. But you do need a stream for each person that wants to be able watch on a separate device at the same time.

2) yes, C Spire TV is available exclusively to C Spire Fiber Internet subscribers.

3) ouch! That's expensive!!

Concern 1) C Spire Fiber offers Home Phone for $20/Mo

Concern 2) Our guide is awesome.

Concern 3) Data - not an issue with C Spire Fiber Internet.

another question...

Well then Davy, what would Cspire run with fiber, TV, 3 streams, dvr, and home telephone.....tax, title, etc.....somehow i don't feel as if its going to be a big saver....

Except you forgot about the contracts that go 10-15 years out with built in rate increases in them for satellite and cable companies. This is a one way elevator you are on pardner.

Not sure "mcgyver" level knowledge is required to plug in a Apple TV or Firestick to an HDMI port on your TV, join a wifi network, download and install and run 1 app. If you have ever joined WiFi on your smartphone and installed and run an app, you know all you need to know.

Thanks for the info and based on what Ive got (Hulu $12 and Vue $45 with an $10 increase coming) I would be looking at $20 more a month presently which is still a $70 a month savings from dish plus now would get live local feeds.

Do you have any pull on where cspire fiber is available?

Unfortunately, I do not have the ability to impact where we build out C Spire Fiber Internet. And selfishly, if I did I'd have it in my neighborhood by the Rez here in Jackson area :)

I'll continue to check in on this thread to see if there are additional questions about C Spire TV.
