I think negative recruiting is for pansies. If your program or results are not good enough, and you have to either make up rumors or some BS about other schools to prop your school up, then you don’t deserve that player. It’s obvious the other schools must be superior if you have to resort to that.

Well he ain't going to Baylor . So its a Duke and UK battle and we have been dominating on the recruiting front the last 2 seasons and everyone thinks UK leads so I will believe them. Its funny Duke has had high classes but there isnt a single player on their team nor a single player committed beyond Flagg who has that elite feel. I literally spend zero time worrying about Duke in any regard since K left. Scheyer is a CORCH and Duke will be lucky to finish 3rd in ****** ACC this season.
I'm no Baylor fan, but they have had just as much recent success as us in terms of draftees. Calipari has had 3 freshmen draftees the last two years in Washington, Livingston, and Wallace. Meanwhile, Baylor has had Kendall Brown, Jeremy Sochan (9th pick), and Keyonte George.
Also, Ja'Kobe Walter will be a lottery pick this year. Other than Sochan, all three have been very similar in style/position to Edgcombe. They do have 5-star Jason Asemota for next year that is also a wing-style player. It's not hard to see the appeal now. His 5-stars freshmen have all been one-and-done.
Baylor has a shot here according to Trilly donavon(some don’t like him) but he is right like 98 percent of the time
He's just saying they have a shot. He's not clearly implying he's going there like he does on a lot of his tweets.

I like Trilly. I'm just not a fan of people posting his every whim before he finally locks into a decision. Donovan has a good rate of success, but it's not the best to start quoting him this early in the game because he often changes his mind.
Don't think Drew isn't letting recruits know this. A Big 12 guy I know that is brothers with a former Big 12 coach said they hand out Bibles full of cash down that way. I laughed when he said it. He didn't laugh back.
I think Cal let the cat out of the bag. Not necessarily with Edgecombe, but with either him or Peterson.
Cal recently said we were about to have three straight years of great players/classes. He was referring to the Wagner class, next year's class, and the Dybantsa class.
I'm not sure he would have mentioned the '24 class unless we had more than just Fland/Quaintance/Perry/Richmond/Cyril. That's a good class, but certainly not a "great class."
You add Edgecombe or Peterson, and it becomes a great class.

Cal has superstars in the league (BAM, Maxey, SGA, Booker, etc). Baylor does have good players in the league but not superstars.

Ha, I see what you're saying. I'm not sure that's intentional though. There are a lot of random white scratches on the pic and might just be along those lines but does sort of look like a trident.

If he wants to go to Duke and play for a soft coach and a soft culture, then that's on him.
Duke is a pretty heavy favorite. I believe he will end up at Duke too, but I sure hope we find a way to flip the script. A lot of these kids are indecisive and it's never too late to make a late push.
Plus they just won a recent Natty, they always compete in a good basketball conference. It definitely has appeal. He will be the man there too. He will be one of “THE” dudes here, just not all alone as a high rated kid. Not that Baylor won’t have good help for him.
Yes, so what if there was one crystal ball pick for Duke from an alleged Maryland insider? Unless the floodgates open with Crystal ball picks for Duke or Baylor, I don't think anyone really has any reliable information and, as usual, it's all guesswork. VJ would fit in great with the players we already have for next year and right now UK is playing a very entertaining style that is perfect for VJ's game. I also read, again just rumor, that even the Duke insiders believe he is UK bound. This feels like a UK win, but I have absolutely nothing to base that on except the factors I noted and Cal's resurgence in recruiting the class we brought in this year, what we already have for next year, and most importantly, Cal's record of putting many UK players in the NBA who are thriving in comparison to Duke's players of the past 13 years. Duke has had success too, but in terms of our number of NBA players and the success they're having, that would be hard for VJ to ignore.
Today things seem to usually boil down to dollars and cents and Cal's record of placing numerous players in the NBA with successful or very successful careers augurs well for UK. Let's keep those factors in mind and hope VJ chooses to make next year's class as good or maybe even better than this year's.

I hope this isn't like Wiggins in 2014. Kentucky and Duke were thought to be leaders and literally no one thought Kansas was in play. Yet he went there. It'd suck if he picked Duke. Baylor I can live with.
The thing with Duke is that they are really stacking up players now. Scheyer got several of the top 10-20 players both in this current class and already in next years' class and those guys aren't going anywhere. Neither is Roach either. They are going to have to push some guys out - Blakes, Roach, McCain, Foster, Power, Evans, & Knueppel look to be on next years' roster as of now.
I'd live a lot better with UK. A few days ago many were almost euphoric about our chances. One Crystal Ball and suddenly people act as though UK is a non-factor. Wait for the announcement and see what happens. FWIW - Cal doesn't appear to be in a panic to see Peterson or Maleek Thomas, both of whom might be as good or perhaps better than Edgecombe when all is said and done.
The analogy to Wiggins is a bit strange because Edgecombe has expressly narrowed his list to 3 schools, and KU is not among them. Right after Cal saw Edgecombe for a second time in a matter of weeks, the gurus suddenly wrote that UK was surging and probably led in his recruitment and VJ said he's leaning 'one way.'
I don't know how this turns out, but I don't understand why such pessimism. Based on what information has that changed from just a few days ago when this board was so optimistic about Edgecombe?
far more optimistic? I guess it's just preparation in the event things don't go our way.
