Playing at Thalia Mara in Jackson tonight. Some of the best guitarists with their versions of Jimi Hendrix songs.

Zakk Wylde, Eric Johnson, Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Doyle Bramhall, and Buddy Guy.

If anyone has 2 extra tickets, I need 'em. I'll pay double what you have invested in them.

Yep. You can still get two third row tickets for $129.50 each (before fees and such). Should be a great show - don't think Kenny Wayne will be there but Cesar Rosas, Brad Whitford, and Dweezil Zappa will be there.

Nah. Not sold out-- surprisingly. I know people who've been selling because they decided to go to other shows (e.g., some friends are in Shreveport to see Stevie Nicks and The Pretenders tonight).

Zakk Wylde is a certified badass. Probably not your cup of tea though.

Thalia Mara's been getting a lot of really good stuff the last few years.

Holy crap....Zakk is one of those players who makes me forever feel inadequate. He's so damn fast and accurate. Love that he's faster than the frame rate of the video. And that he's playing an acoustic like it's an electric, that's hard as crap to do. His relatively simple lick at the end of the No More Tears solo has eluded me for 20 years.

Not going to be anywhere near soldout. Arden is lsoing his *** on this show and he is pissed..
I just can't pay those prices for 3hrs of people playing only Hendrix tunes, who is going to sing?
How many Hendrix songs will the play in 3 hrs, will each person play the same song?

Yeah.... I get where you're coming from there and while I love that I'm going to see all these great guitarists there I kind of wonder the same thing which is why I went with a slightly cheaper ticket option than I normally would do. And Arden's had some great shows this week: Son Volt, Southern Soul Assembly, and City and Colour-- all awesome.

Arden does a great job in getting acts. WSP twice last year as well as Robert Plant and Bob Dylan. Chicago later this month. Jason Isbell in July. And for those of you with children: Peppa Pig in September.

Fill me in on who Arden is. I've been away from Jackson area until moving back last year. The last show I saw at Thalia Mara was ZZ Topp during the Rhythmeen tour 1996, which was fantastic.

Arden Barnett. Promotes shows in Jackson as well as some other places in Mississippi (the Jimmie Rodgers Festival in Meridian is an example).

Look up Ardenland on Facebook or go to http://www.ardenland.net

Neither Kenny Wayne nor Doyle Bramhall were there. Zakk was his usual maniac self. Eric Johnson doing several of the Axis: Bold as Love tunes was perfect. Jonny Lang with All Along the Watchtower and Fire was REALLY Good. Buddy was Buddy. Crowd favorite. Red House at the end. Awesome

Yeah, I wasn't sure if Doyle would be there or not so I didn't include him. I knew that Kenny Wayne wouldn't. Zakk was fantastic. And Buddy was indeed Buddy.

I can't get past the fact that there's no Rich. I guess I think of CRB the same way you think of Jimmy Herring-era WSP. I just can't get into it.

The difference for me is WSP is without Mikey, and CRB is CRB. Its not like its the BC playing without Rich. Its a totally different band and no one is trying to play Rich's cords.

Yeah. I know. I've seen them perform-- given CRB a shot. I just wasn't impressed and that disappoints me because I love going to concerts and Arden books great shows (e.g., Boston at Thalia Mara on May 3 was announced just today and I missed their last gig in town so I will likely go to it this time). I may still go to next month's CRB gig if only to see friends but I won't be expecting much music-wise.

Neal Casal is also in Hard working Americans with Todd Snider and Dave Schools/Duane Trucks of WSP.
Neal is a bad *** guitarist and I'll go see him play anywhere

CRB is not a rock band like the Black Crows were, think more in the lines of the Grateful Dead. If you liked the Dead you might really dig CRB.
