looks like Tennessee just pulled a trick play. Had runners at 1st and 3rd. They had the runner at first act like he was stealing on the pitch, then act like he fell down to get catcher throw down to first thinking it was automatic out. Runner at third went home to tie it up.

- Nashville is OFF ITS ***. Mini-Vegas. Pools shooting out mid-skyline tellies. New hotels and commonass apartment high rises being risen like Jesus himself. Tootsies charging $9 for Miller Lites like I’m also getting the opportunity to watch Joe Burrow toss tuddies live. Me smiling and taking it like PTI did from Boat at ‘97 rush. More mobile drinking auto-parade tractormobiles than Camrys in Scott County. Lost its charm like George Strait in “You Know Me Better Than That.” Cover singers reading “Calling Baton Rouge” lyrics off their phones. Makes Wodie Sloot’s Nashville look like Bowling Green.

… but I still love it.

- Stayed at the JW Marriott because the Courtyard just ain’t enough anymore for this G. Got there at noon Friday. By 12:30 I was chest deep in a pool aligned with the Music City skyline fully on board the Miller Lite train, an express I would not depart for the next 38 hours.

- And same with Nashville. My first trip was in August 2003 - first weekend I ever hung out with BBdK, PTI and Sloot. I remember saddling up knowing I was with people I’d be tight with for years, in the intimate space that is the street level entrance of Tootsies listening to legit talents, some grizzled and some on the come up. Was actually somewhat quaint back then. I was immediately in love. 20 years later, man, I was still hollering and swallerin, although this time on the rooftop bar gray in my stubble, daughter’s picture on my iPhone, cheering bands who squeezed in Morgan Wallen, George Strait and Metallica covers led by a girl who looked like a Kristen Stewart wannabe.

Solid post @wcc31

I haven’t been to Nashville in a decade but my buddy’s that live there or frequent there are like Mark, you won’t like it. You don’t like crowds and lines. So I trust them.

It’s the same as KW though basically. KW has been #2 for bachelor parties and #2 for bachelorette parties for a few years now. #1 for bros is Vegas, #1 for gals is Nashville.

It’s too much for me for sure. I like chill quiet nights 1000x over ragers.

Hell, I’d rather drink some beers and smoke some weed with the crew at the house outside than deal with all that.

On my device’s page setup, WWC’s eloquent musing about Nashville, maturity, the bonds of friendship, and lifestyle vibe is buried as the last post at the bottom of the last page.

Rogue’s “Yeah, but . . . MEl” follow up is at the top of this new page. That’s quite the juxtaposition.

No commentary. Just an observation.

To be fair, two different lifestyles that only changed in the last 5 or so years but I get it. Still love your stuff.

-I had my bachelorette party in Nashville over 15 years ago… before it was cool.

- @wcc31, those friends you made 20 years ago in Nashville miss you. Come hang out sometime. We even invite kids these days, so bring your family.

- I haven’t been to Nashville since March 2019. Do I even want to go back? Kinda scared of what I’ll see. It was already off the rails then.

Last month while on college visits to Belmont/Lipscomb we decided to walk to Broadway on a Thursday night at 7:00. It was packed and my wife had not been there since 2006 and was the first time for my son. She thought it was too loud but I could see the future gleam in my son's eyes. I had to duck into Legends to take a piss but man I wanted to stay.

I had to go to our Nashville office, which is like two blocks from Broadway, last November on like a Wednesday. I ducked over for lunch at one of the food hall places around noon and was shocked at the amount of people wandering around and drinking at noon on a random weekday.

Who the f*** are these people and how do I get a job with so much vacation time that I can waste it on Broadway on a weekday?

I DEMAND COMMENTARY!

Hannibal Burress lit the house on fire last night. His opening act, Reggie Junior, was an absolute riot, too. My wife actually preferred him. Probably the best opening act I've ever seen. Also, Palmer's Salmon Oscar never disappoints.

The Palmer's / COB combo may be the best date night in Lexington.

-White on white on blue is going to be a dope look with these new unis IMO.

-Of all of the mental illnesses, folks who build intricate towns around model train sets in their homes should be highly revered in our society. Those things are just incredible, and something that no matter how old I get they still capture my imagination. Worship. God bless em.

-Labor Day Weekend Kentucky Football... the one major UK sporting event on the calendar where seersucker and linen are permissible, albeit a bit late in the season.

-I haven't invested in my wardrobe since pre-COVID and some of my staples are getting a little haggard. New sleds, jeans, sweaters, a couple sports coats and some SLACKS are in order.

-Not to mention the unmentionables. One thing you don't realize until a few years after your Mom passes and your undies, socks, undershirts, etc. all need replacing is she was the one who typically kept you in the game, restocking your top drawer every Christmas.

I'm a little older now and with more discerning tastes, but when those last few Mom essentials were put out to pasture it was a little sad. #GRIEF

-Had my bachelor party in New Orleans. If I could do it again at this stage of my life, give me NYC with my TOP 4-6 buds.

-Didn't care much for that lecturing from ol MaxPowerr on the UKO engagement. Going to let it slide, though I am sensing a slightly more edgy MP as of late. Anyone else?

-The more I look at the schedule, the more I like it. Florida, Mizzou, and UT at home helps. We tend to play well in Columbia, and I have no doubt Stoops has it circled. The Mississippi State roadie is always a nightmare but Stoops has to get the SEC West road W at some freaking point.

Ball State W
EKU W
Akron W
@Vandy W
Florida W
@UGA L
Mizzou W
Tennessee W
@Miss State W
Alabama L
@South Carolina W
@Louisville W

F it, 10-2. Tempted to swap the Bama L and USC W though. That Bama game just has that destiny feel to it...

-It's football time in the Bluegrass.

Ranking anticipated atmospheres on the schedule:

1. UT - worst football fanbase in the country. Halloween weekend. Full of hatred.
2. @ USC - Beamer vs Stoops, Leary vs. Rattler. If they still have life this late in the season, it'll be hype-city.
3. Bama - nuff said
4. @ UGA - potential top 10 undefeated showdown for the east. If that's the case, it should be #1, but I don't think the UGA fan base has enough respect for the Cats to bring their A-game.
5. Florida - Stoops and BBN smelling blood in this rivalry
6. @ UL - Cake schedule will have the linebeards thinking they can compete with an SEC team.
7. Mizzou - Drink's a dork, but the game is always tense.
8. @ MSU - cowbells suck hard
9. EKU
10. Ball State
11. Akron
12. @ Vandy - HS field and home crowd

I would put Miss St at #5. If things are going well KY could be going into that game after a major win against UT and likely be close to if not in the Top 10. Would be a critical game for Stoops to win to keep the momentum but also end his abysmal West road losing streak.

I'll be curious to see how much alcohol sales effect the stadium environment. If we get a night game during Keenland, the place may explode. The Akron game at 7:30 will be an early litmus test.
I’ll be curious to know how alcohol sales impact buying pints of KT at liquor stores next to the stadium on Saturdays. Those days are done for me.

Just received an email from my daughter’s school (she’s in high school at JCPS).

“We have two trips coming up we want to talk to you about. The first one is a 14 day trip to England, France and Spain. The second is a 9 day adventure to Costa Rica.”

With a hat tip to SAE’s old man, I responded back with a “we’re not ‘send my kid to foreign lands on a school field trip’ people.”

-UK kickoff dinner last night. Nothing much to report. Defense staff is cocky AF would be the main take-a-way.

*Fieldhouse looks dope and new turf is popping.
*They were serving scallops outdoors in 95 degree heat. Questionable decision, at best.
*Event being held in the alley b/w the fieldhouse and stadium, also questionable.

-Got to hang out on the 2 fields, so naturally G wanted to catch some passes. At 40+ year old I've learned you gotta REALLY watch that **** though. That shoulder will go quick. Lot of short dart elbow heavy throws. Left my shoulder hanging a couple years ago and it was f*cked for a solid 6 months. Gotta warm that puppy up or throw like a girl. Only options unless you want lingering pain.

-I don't still love Nashville, I desperately miss old Nashville. Rednecks in dive bars singing classic country is now Northeastern 20-Somethings in party buses and mega-Corporate complexes. Much like the days of hanging outside Jock's N Jills, waiting to walk over to the Georgia Dome, it's the end of a really fun time in our life. I just don't have much for the new stuff outside of quality bathrooms. Great post by WCC though.

- 8-4

-ive been 4 times over the last couple of years...if you avoid Broadway it's a fun trip. Lots of good food/shopping/music venues...3hrs away. Not a bad quick trip.
