with the behemoth nearly complete as phase 1 of the renovation, it appears that we are going for something very close to the original plan.

lets hope that continues with the rest of the reno minus the lofts which i assume are dead at this point based on what i have seen here. Is the timeline to continue the outfield at the end of this season and the stadium next season? I think having Cohen running things makes me feel a bit more comfortable that the original plan will come to fruition and we wont get a watered-down version....not that scott didnt follow through with his vision, as DWS looks almost exactly like the refined rendering. Im getting excited to see what starts falling into place in the near future regarding the baseball program, but we might struggle a bit this season.

new boss in town.

I will be surprised if what we wind up with is anything other than the original plan minus the lofts.

I think we will surprise some folks this year. I am more curious about next year, when we should have an elite team on paper, but we will be living out of a bus for the first month and a half.

My son and I recently attended the father / son baseball camp (great way to spend some time with your son), during one of the break out talks with just the dads Coach Cannizaro spoke as if it would be pretty much what has been shown to this point (minus the lofts as he didn't mention them). His exact words were that "everything will be top of the line" and "there will be nothing like it in college baseball". He also spoke about how the new LFL will actually help in recruiting because all of the individual structures, once added to the new designated spaces, will be able to stay year around - which in the past has not given recruits the opportunity to see LFL already set up. Which I had really never thought about before.

This thread isn't about what you thought it's about.

Did you read the post?

Seems like the response was in line with the post, which goes deeper than the subject line.

I haven't seen any discussion about the meetings of LFL owners getting to see the designs and choose layouts, which is surprising to me.
I understand they were real secretive, not letting anyone take photos or even sketch out what they had to choose from.

If we don't do the lofts, I think something similar to the Beer Garden at Petco Park would be sweet behind the lounge. Rooftop party for those who don't have a rig in the outfield.

Why are The Lofts dead??

I haven't heard anything one way or the other. Guess I missed it.

$50k/unit per year is steep. Not enough people wanting to spend that kind of cash.

Hate that the lofts are dead....they would have really set us apart from EVERYONE in college baseball. Like the beer garden idea though.

It's a damn shame too. Someone is being too greedy or shortsighted in that deal. I wish Cohen could somehow revive it.

I think the lofts were always going to be an add-on after the rest of the stadium was built, depending on demand. They might have worked if they had let people live in them year-round, but when I saw they were only available on game weekends (football and basketball games included), I figured they'd never be a go.

As an owner I can tell you that we've picked out the layout that we want. Each owner had a choice of 1,2, 3 or 4 levels. We took a 2 level. Once this season is over they will immediately begin construction on the lounge area. You're correct we weren't allowed to take pictures of anything. At the meeting we were told that the second tier spots will be a little larger then the first. Also their still working on storage space. Initially they were going to have a built in spot underneath each lounge but for some reason either the city or fire marshal (I believe it was the marshal) wouldn't approve it so they've apparently gone back to the drawing board. That's the latest on the lounges that I'm aware of.

Parents could have used the lofts to house their children during the school year and they would have sold a million of them as efficiency apartments or similar. I am not real sure of the planned loft size .

Speaking to demand - I believe I read on here that they had 1 commitment.

What are the costs going to be for the lounges to be built and the yearly rental?

On the surface, that is an outstanding idea. Why don't you email it to Cohen?

The problem with the lofts wasn't limited use. That was to be worked out.

It was the $50,000 ANNUAL rental plus $12,000 ANNUAL expense load. No ownership.

There was no demand. As of my last conversation with someone in athletics one person was swapping a skybox for a loft.

The lofts are definitely not dead. They're still in the plans, just maybe 2-3 years down the line. I'll be very surprised if they don't get built.

Don't know the building cost but the current yearly fee is $2000. . I know some people are going "wow" but almost every owner has multiple people who've invested. With mine there are 6 of us that will share the costs.

It's going to be awesome when it is all said and done. I truly believe that. And It'll be better than anything anyone else has.

But the renderings showing every part of the entire Master Plan are not going to represent the amount of work that will be completed in this project. I think that total scope of work was somewhere around 90-100 Million Dollars. Just what I heard on the street. So if we're spending around 50 Million it'll be less. And I think, but am not certain, the lofts were in that 90-100 Million range. Take it for what it's worth, and none of what I said is official information. Just industry chatter.

If we don't build lofts, someone else will. That's the problem.

Let them have it. The lofts aren't ideal for what they designed them for. Personally I think the stadium is better without them so I hope they are axed. Maintaining the LFL to me is the #1 goal, and improving the bleacher chairback thing is the other. Have to make all seats chairback and not have 2 HS football bleachers loosely connected to it. And finally the sound system needs to be improved so people all around the stadium can here. The new video board this season solves a lot of problems.

Hopefully this also solves the season ticket thing. Which they are also going to need to fix for basketball. But that's for another thread.

*bump* Not to take away from the Ole Miss chatter, but Cannizaro says the lofts aren't dead yet (good article too):

There is also some buzz about the new condominiums going up behind the outfield spots. The condos will be available not only during baseball season but could also be used for trips to Starkville during football and basketball season. Called The Left Field Lofts, each unit will have two bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen, living space, and balcony. You can snag one for a $50,000 annual Bulldog Club obligation plus a maintenance/utility fee of an estimated $14,400 annually.
“There are going to be lofts in left field that go from the foul pole to about left-center field,” Cannizaro explained, “Three stories tall. It is going to be unreal. It will almost give it a Wrigley Field setting. People are going to be able to sit on the roof up top and watch the game.”

My favorite part of that quote is the rooftop comment. That was never really mentioned before. A rooftop party deck would be killer

As someone approaching 65 and looking at 'retirement options,' I would definitely consider those lofts .. BUT, only if I could have access year-round.

$64,400 annually while gaining no ownership would be a strict no-no in my book
