I keep reading here that Cal is doing absolutely nothing yet keep seeing Tweets about players visiting. Both can't be right. I guess the reality of people visiting wins out.

Believe it's his last OV and very telling he's not committed to Arizona after visiting this past weekend. Believe Maggard had mentioned he liked where Kentucky stood on Fri or Sat and while he took a lot of crap for saying that this past weekend because apparently you are only allowed to share negative UK info-that sure doesn't seem like a bad time to host him for OV and looks like there's at least truth that guy is considering them seriously.

Maybe I should be excited about this but I’m not
I'll take a guy who played a large role on a team who played in a National Championship game and is a winning player over the guys who want the spotlight/attention at Kentucky but don't have the winning chops to produce on the court as that spotlight/attention demands. This is also the type of player that a player development coach like John Welch can help with his jumpshot.

I don't think they are losers. I think they are trained to think negatively because that's all they get from the insiders who play telephone game. I can tell you one thing I was sent privately that came from some insightful group chat was a million % INCORRECT and is being talked about as gospel. It's a guy's opinion of someone who has nothing to do with the athlete in question. It's hilarious that he thinks he can pass that crap off as true too. Doesn't take many tea leaves to see through it, but when people want to be negative they can be negative about any/everything.

Anybody that only wants negative info about UK and not positive is a loser if they claim to be a UK fan. Probably rival fans posing as UK fans.

Well he led his team in scoring in the national championship game, so there’s that. He’s got a great frame and motor and plays good defense. Can’t fill the roster with all 5 stars.
Well when we get bounced from the tournament because our only three point shooter goes ice cold again I guess we’ll be glad we have him

This would probably mean Livingston is gone if they get him, which is okay, if you get Johnson, you probably have to find another shooter somewhere

Probably gone no matter what. But this means Kentucky would be recruiting a guy who doesn't care who is/isn't there and is interested in being part of the program. I mean that does happen elsewhere too. UConn got 3 guys who started (Calcaterra, Alleyne, and Diallo) to transfer to play off the bench this past year and be part of a NC team.

I asked before and still don't see where he is listed in top portal transfers. Not top 10 or top 20. So a lot of rationalization seems to be posted so far on his value. I'd prefer someone who has been consistent at the top but oh well, so far we have struck out on any.

If the stuff about Livingston wanting guarantees about shots and playing tiem is true, then good luck to him and it’s best Kentucky moves on, the UConn point is one I have been trying to make, Kentucky should be able to get 8 guys who are all good and will accept roles, and have a couple of more who can play in a pinch, I know the portal and everything has changed college basketball and players having patience really isn’t there anymore, but if a team like UConn can do it, so can Kentucky

It's not just wanting negative info-it's wanting/thirsting for info period. BBN is a basketball crazed fanbase and they will spend money or time investing in a lot of innuendo and rumors and setting themselves up to be disappointed because they interact with a lot of people who don't know anything and pass off 3rd hand info which isn't accurate as 100% truth. What usually happens is something contains some truth--as it gets passed around--then turns into less of the actual story and more of the opinion of the person who continues to pass it.

So when a guy lists UK or says he's going to look hard at them, someone has some fun and says "Cat" and then someone else calls a fan having fun a "Source" and then we've got a group of fans who turn that into "So and so said that guy is going to Kentucky". Then when real info gets shared-it pisses them off because they feel betrayed--no matter if the info is positive or negative.

Livingston from what I was told is a good teammate and person. He's wanting to exhaust all his NBA preparation and see if he can get drafted. That was expected. When everyone was talking about stay/go the portal option was mentioned to me and specifically the Bronny angle. Now he's got a few days to actually enter the Portal to give him that option so we'll see what happens.

Personally, I'd like if it he wanted to return but won't lose sleep if he leaves in any capacity. Next man up!

You are the one who said he caught flack because "apparently you are only allowed to share negative UK info."

I'm going back and watching the UCONN game and I think he'd be a great addition. I remembered him standing out during their tournament run, but I wanted to take a closer look at him specifically. He's experienced, athletic, physical - can defend multiple positions at a high level, is used to winning, solid rebounder, and has a good offensive IQ. He wasn't asked to do much shooting or offensive creation - but honestly in the small samples his shot looks solid and there were a few late shot clock opportunities where he got himself a shot. And if DJ, Rob and Justin can create offense at a high level, it shouldn't matter anyway.

If you asked me what I wanted for the remaining roster spots - he'd check most of the boxes.

-experienced / knows how to win
-tough
-(+) defender with switch-ability

if he shot 35+% from 3, he'd be perfect

I was kidding about that-which is why I mentioned "Apparently". I don't think fans are losers, but I do think there is a group that wants to be right to validate an "in the know" perception they have of themselves or those who they communicate with being connected.

It's okay to tell someone "I don't know" when asked about an issue. because there are a ton of things you won't know even if someone you interact with knows a lot. It's not a fun response and if it makes posters think you don't know anything, so be it. But it's the truth. Thing is reality isn't always exciting or fun.

👍

I never said fans were losers. I said fans of a team that only wanted negative news about that team were losers, and they are. Anyway, this has gotten way to confusing. Take care.

He did seem like a good kid, and I get him wanting to look at every option possible, but I agree it won’t be the end of the world if he doesn’t come back

They gotta whine now. This place will be a ghost town next season when we're rolling. But there is the governor's race. Most of the Cal hate comes from politics anyway. So they will have that to whine about too.

From his IG it looks like Johnson was at UA last night and today. Never a great sign when your next visit is announced on your current visit.

Can’t shoot 3’s or free throws but is a defensive monster…..I’ve seen this movie already and I hate the ending. The definition of madness is doing something over and over again and expecting a different result. But sure keep de-emphasizing shooting it’s really working out fantastic for the program.

This roster has a need for a defensive stopper and we have probably 4 open scholarships….so no reason not to get him

Reeves, Edwards, Dilly will be defensively plus guys. Maybe Wagner is the lone wing who might be really good on D

So just surround him with shooters and fit him in

I love this guy. He’s a defensive stopper we don’t have. There’s a big misconception that every dude needs to be a star. If anything, this guy will get a chance at the 4 and will take over the minutes that Lance would have given and done nothing with, will also help bring Bradshaw along. Comes from a winning program and knows his role as a defender/athlete. I love it.
