Agree with bbncal2 100%. From what I know I would not think he would be a good fit at all! I saw
him against Vandy, and while that is only one game, he was terrible. Also I think he may be trouble
in the locker room as well.
If you only saw Oscar play at Alabama you would have thought he didn’t get off the bench.

Under Cal, Kentucky is not a place for a shooting big man to come. You guys are hoping for him to come anyway. Not the way it works.

You know how I feel about it

Next years team will be run by the freshman, whether we like it or not

A Quick Hunter Dickinson Update
I do sense some nervousness from KU’s side about Kentucky and Hunter Dickinson.
I’ve gotten conflicting intel on Kentucky here. I think Dickinson’s team has indicated The Wildcats aren’t a likely landing spot, but I’m not sure KU feels the

This is a good point. His visit to UK doesn't come at a bad time, when Coach Cal and Co. can simply turn on TNT every night and see former UK players in the NBA playoffs, several with lofty deals and multiple years in the league.
Yeah... but so can KU... more range in quality, but w/ the likely MVP.

Sounds desperate.
You're right... only agreeing because CCC flew there first. lol
Probably best to go later than early... and I suspect Self has much more insightful information to convey (perhaps some other impending commitment news) than... "we're not for everyone", "every game we play is a Super Bowl", and the cerebral "go! go! go!"

Or maybe we got by with cheating and will keep you on the team if you beat up a woman?

i have not seen one thing from him or his family regarding his recruitment, they have all been very hush, hush
anything that is stated that he is leaning one way or the other is nothing but a guess

Self went to visit him at the airport cal went to, and asked him not to take another visit but Dickinson decided to still go to nova

I am unsure about Dickinson's ultimate impact. I do not possess a crystal ball. There's a future where all our freshman ball and he's a nice accent. There's another where he has to carry the offensive.

We can say that he would be a nice hedge against any busts in our incoming recruiting class. The more players, the more dice rolls at finding a star and quality rotation players. Dickinson is a proven contributor at the power conference level. His bust potential is low.

If we get Dickinson, then we are in pretty good shape roster wise.

Just have to wait on Reeves and Livingston.

Both those guys back would be huge.

Reeves shouldn’t be too hard to replace, if he doesn’t come back. Probably still going to be some guys enter the portal last minute.

I suspect Livingston is gone.

Hope Cal brings in a backup 4 in his place, but I have a feeling Ware is going to be the backup 4.

Wow. Those guys saying exactly what I've thought for a long while. It's an obvious mistake to try to win with OAD freshmen. They have loads of "talent," but they're generally not good enough basketball players yet to beat the best upperclassmen. The top transfers are better basketball players today and give your team a better chance to win a title. Maybe plug an OAD in a spot or two (their higher long-term talent level will show better at this stage of their development in limited reliance) but have better college players (upperclassmen) to surround them with. Sure, the rare transcendental freshman is a different thing, but there are very few of those and even they would be greatly enhanced surrounded by better college players instead of a team full of still-developing, ranking-based-on-future-pro-potential freshmen.

Basically, I've already written off UK's chances to win a title next season based on the projected lineups I read on here (which I agree are probably correct). But, on the other hand, I'm still going to try to enjoy watching what I think are some exciting (if limited from a +/- standpoint) freshmen.

Yeah that’s the only missing piece, a backup 4. (If we get Dickinson) Especially with Bradshaw being a freshman that will likely get in foul trouble. I wish Thiero was a little bigger and could have an impact there like Toppin did behind Brooks.

If Reeves leaves, I have to think Cal will get a shooter that’s less of a guard and more of a wing, but surely Reeves will be back soon.

It’s sort of crazy that the two best HS PFs are back on the market in Mgbako and Holland.

We need to create a CIA-type network of Kentucky Basketball spies all throughout the country. For instance our Philadelphia field office this week would have agents dressed in Villanova attire track and harass Hunter on his visit. We make his visit as unpleasant as possible, disguised as Nova fans. Spill coffee on him, be rude to him, tell him “we” don’t want him in “our” program, etc. Surely we could have done the same in Lawrence. There’s gotta be some UK fans in KS.

Hearing playing near DeMantha is a major factor, though Maryland can't match the NIL of Kentucky and Kansas. Closer than I expected yesterday. Neither Kentucky or Maryland feels extremely confident. Still expect he'll give the nod to the Cats but it's not a given. Maryland is a serious contender.

That makes no sense, if they have indicated it’s not a likely spot then why would they be nervous? Somebody must be lying on his team then.

So no Kansas, that’s who everybody else is still saying it is
