Dickinson straight from his mouth …insinuates Oscar not returning

This is what the Church of Cal faithful will never comprehend; it's NOT his ability to get guys. It's what he does after he gets them. In game stuff. How is this just so difficult for people to understand??

I never defended Cal’s in game coaching, and I don’t attend any so-called church of Cal. I was simply addressing those that complain in every thread where some other team lands a transfer that our coach is asleep at the wheel. Which is not true.

This is all my opinion, so no need to bash or tell me I don’t have facts……I stipulate…

Cal has wanted Oscar to leave since season ended. Too many things said and done by each through the season show me that they weren’t on the same page. I personally don’t think either of them really wants to work with the other for another year. However, Oscar may not have a lot of choices outside of transferring if he doesn’t come back.

Cal can’t just flat out say he doesn’t want Oscar back. He instead says random **** to get this to O and his people. I’ll play two seven footers? He announced O putting his name in the draft? He obviously isn’t shy about flying to meet Hd? He obviously tells certain media to report that there is convo happening with HD? Surely he knew HD would be talking about “I’m not going to say what I know about Oscar because he is his own person, but I feel comfortable enough to visit knowing what I know so that’s new there.” Cal probably urging him to say just that.

This is Cals way of softening the blow. Just trying to get it out there. I’m guessing Oscar has already told Cal he don’t want to be back, or HD probably doesn’t even set a visit.

It is what it is. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if I would like Oscar to return. What matters is what that relationship would be like if he did; how we would have to play; what type of issues would most likely to come up during the season……..probably best for Oscar to not be here.

So let’s roll with Hunter. If he wants to be here, let’s go with it. Not sure it’ll work much better than last two seasons, but probably not a great idea to run it back for #3 when it’s so so apparent that neither of them really want to be around each other.
Good post spot on. I'll roll with Hunter to if that's what we end up with dude can ball no taking that away from him.

I'm not in love with Dickinson as a player, but he's been much further than Oscar has in the tournament. Was the leading scorer on their Elite 8 team a few years ago

He sure went off in that elite eight game......11 points and 2 rebounds. 2 boards!!

I think Cal wants Oscar to leave also but he has to get that idea out there indirectly in order to not alienate the fans. Oscar didn't put up with Cal playing his favorites and said something about it so Cal doesn't want that type of personality on the team. Might get bashed for that opinion but it is what it is.

I think he wants him to leave as well. I mean on national TV he said his defense sucked and put his finger to his mouth like he was gagging. I just am shaking my head that people think getting rid of Oscar and bring in Dickinson will make some drastic change for the better. Rude awakening.

Cal’s biggest strength is recruiting …be it freshmen or the portal …if Cal wants Hunter, and sure seems like he does …he will imo

Yeah I will say though I don't think Oscar defense is as bad as everyone thinks it to be but he needed a coach to help hide his weakness ok the PnR but Cal isn't the guy to make adjustments. I also think either way even with the bad defense both these guys are plus players so with our upgrade on the wings and our guards we should have a good chance to be successful.

You don't have to sell me on Oscar. Just ludicrous that some want him out of here. Pure insanity to me. Some are not UK fans, I get that. But some are.

Tell me how that went with Zion. Cal hasn't exactly won the recruiting wars up until this class lately either. As usual, we have to wait and see.

The cutting down of Oscar by some in the fan base is sad but predictable. It’s human nature. We rise them up, then cut them down when the expectations aren’t met. He went from one of the most popular players in Kentucky basketball history to being a bad teammate, uncoachable, doesn’t take blame, and people basically wanting him to leave.

I don't know anything about anything... but Hunter just doesn't seem that interested in UK. I'll gladly cheer for him if he wants to suit up here, but I'm personally not seeing it happen.

I have serious concerns about what Cal will do with them once he gets them. I've also see the talk that that post is directly referring to, people HAVE been accusing Cal of coasting and not trying to get guys in the portal. What people truly have difficulty understanding is that you don't have to be a 100% hater or a 100% stan. Defending someone against accusation X doesn't mean you are necessarily defending against or ignoring accusations Y and Z. Criticizing someone for X doesn't mean you MUST believe accusations Y and Z. Stop putting everyone into little boxes.
GTFO with that kind of reasonableness.

Love Oscar, but Dickinson’s antics will be no worse than Oscar raising his hands up in the air every time he gets the ball stolen or gets beat on defense or elbowing people in the face and neck.
If that's love I want no part of it. Some of you see what you want to see.

Did Oscar not do those things last year? You saw it with your own eyes too. I love my wife, she’s not perfect. My wife loves me. I’m not perfect. All I am saying is whatever Hunter’s “antics” are, they will be no worse than Oscar’s.

Good grief, what a drama-fest. Whatever happened to guys wanting to compete and prove their abilities against the best? Now we have players and their handlers evaluating the roster thinking they need guaranteed playing time.
If you aren't good enough to start or get the most minutes, you go back to work, get better and take that spot from the other guy. Indicative of the problem UK has had for several seasons...no Alpha's.

I said I don't love Dickinson. But if the argument is who has gone further in the tournament, then Dickinson wins that battle

Interesting that the people that want Oscar to leave because "we can't win with him" want Dickinson.........who didn't make the tournament last year.

Why are you pinning team accomplishments on a single player? They are both good. Someone compared it to Jody Meeks earlier. You would take him in a heartbeat on the 2010 team.

Cals definitely trying to move oscar along. I think it’s his ego and seeing Oscar become the rock star while fans are crapping on cal. He probably doesn’t understand he has sucked the last several seasons as a coach and Oscar saved his butt. Cals ego can’t share the limelight.

The other thing is this. I didn’t hear any insinuation in there. Cal told him something maybe exactly what’s reported today that if Dickinson commits before Oscar decides he understands his spot is gone. That’s all cal had to tell him. I doubt cal gave enough truth for HD to really know what’s happening with oT.

Oscar is ready to move on. UK fans are not kicking him out. You pick the next man up and that’s Dickinson. Oscar should’ve given uK a clear answer instead of saying they could go ahead and build the roster without him.

It's different though man Dickinson is a front runner who will be perfectly ok being Cals guy and getting all the playing time he wants. Dickinson wouldn't get lippy with Cal because of what Cal can do for him as far as NBA connections amd etc. The ones Dickinson would get lippy with are his own teammates whenever he needs someone to blame for a play breaking down or something along those lines.
but, but supposedly from a friend, of a friend of a tutor, at wildcat lodge THAT was Oscar
lol

lol... you like to claim I go that church...but you are wrong on everything
Cal's problem is getting the best of the best (lately)
You really thought that last year's team was a top 5 team...LOL

Hopefully all those that claim that Cal is coasting and needs to get off his ***, they should take note. He goes after the best of the best. Best freshmen coming in, and he flies to see the #1 guy in the portal.

I just didn't get the feeling that Oscar was happy last season and wants to move on.I wish him the best whatever happens.
I agree
He just didn't seem to have the same spark that he ahad the prior season
When he called out ccc for yelling, I think that says it all

He wan't happy because he was getting destroyed on D yet the first part of the season blamed his teammates. Not good.
they were all destroyed on defense
none of them could guard a pine knot except maybe Wallace
Revees can't guard the logo on the floor yet everyone still wants him back

We must be watching different games. Can you post what Oscar's numbers were in those tournament games? He went NUTS in the tournament.....he averaged 21 pts and 20 rebounds. But his defense is why we lost and not stuff like Reeves going 1 for 15? Give me a break. You guys heaping the blame of the tournament woe's on Oscar are shameful.
don't forget wheeler stunk it up against st peters & toppin & reeves stunk gainst Kansas state, yet Oscar is the blame
if he does leave, see how many offensive rebounds the opponent gets compared to how many UK gets
