From a business perspective it never did make sense... he's not an NBA player. He could make peanuts in the G League or another couple million at Kentucky? Duh.

The more interesting question is why did CCC make Oscar's announcement for him when he has literally NEVER done that before?

Hopefully it is true. Multiple people said it was a credible source. If it is who I think it is they are on Leach Report regularly.
I know some were ready to move on from Oscar, but you can't argue with 20/20 tournament averages.

If Reeves goes 3/15 instead of 1/15 or if Ty Ty goes 3/10 instead of 2/10 or if Grady goes 2/9 instead of 1/9, we'd likely be hailing Oscar as a Elite Eight/ Final Four-level big man.

The guilt by association is as misplaced as it would be if we had blamed Chuck Hayes for losing in the second round to UAB back in 2004.

With Oscar back, I would feel better about the center position, but Cal has to change some things.

1) He needs to play Ugo more… much more

2) He has to get Oscar to be more aggressive at the rim on defense. Yes, try your best to not pick up fouls, but you can't let guys just lay the ball in and hope they miss.

Hopefully this rumor is true and Cal gets at least one more elite shooter too. This is assuming Reeves returns, if he doesn't, he needs to get 2 elite shooters.

Hilarious

And yeah…let’s surround Oscar wjtb legit guards and see if we can replicate 2021 season with better injury luck down the stretch!

If only Livingston would get his head of out of his rear end wjtb reeves back….it battle with that team
Offensively, we'll have upgrades pretty much everywhere. Wagner is a better scorer than Wallace. Dillingham and Sheppard are obviously upgrades over Fredrick. I don't even factor the quitter Wheeler into any of this.

Thiero will be better. Reeves will be better. Edwards might be the best scoring wing forward we've had since James Young, and possibly even better. Bradshaw gives us more multidimensionally than Toppin on the offensive end. Toppin was way too erratic.

I'd still like Kentucky to go out and add a stretch-four to back up Bradshaw and also give us another look so we can sit Oscar more and let Bradshaw play some 5.

That's been my point regarding how cruel history can be ... Oscar goes for 20/20 averages in tourney games, while Reeves goes 1/15 and TyTy and Grady are both injured and can't throw it in the ocean - therefore Oscar held the team back.

That said, Cal will still be coaching, so I refuse to have any optimistic outlook on UK's season until the incoming group shows they can do it at the next level.

I agree. You likely won’t upgrade defense over Wallace but offense you will.

Reeves Oscar and Livingston should come back and hopefully we get st least two of the three back

A rotation of

Wagner and Dilly PG
Wqgner Reeves and Shep at Sg
Reeves Edward at Sf
Livingston Bradshaw at PF
Oscar Bradshaw And Ugo at C

Ware and Thiero around for defensive matchup purposes

That team can be top 10 in the end

Sounds like Livingston doesn't want to be here though. If Reeves and Oscar are back we need a depth guy from portal at PF and we're set.

Reeves is a non factor. He can't defend, he can't pass, he can't handle the ball. We have enough of that for 3 seasons. It's time for him to move on. Unless he's happy being a cigar guy?

Oscar coming back, if true, is huge.

Reeves dropping 37 at Arkansas is all I needed to see to know he would be valuable on next years team. Need shooting next year and Reeves would provide that.

He will need to accept a certain role and get his defense to a manageable level. He desperately needs to not bring the ball down and he needs to recognize when to pass out of the double team.
Has been said that Oscar had meeting with the staff. They agreed that Oscar would have a lesser role than the part two seasons. Also, that his defense must improve and that he really needs to focus on that end of the floor.

His D will be solid with a legit big backing him up and help from Bradshaw. And now teams will have to defend all our guys sometimes double team a Wagner or edwards it should open things up for oscar to feel like he can trust everyone enough to move the ball.

Im very happy to hear this.. But how does Ugo factor into this? How about Bradshaw? You're not going to be able to please all 3 of them, someone is getting only 12mpg. It seems like Ugo decided to come back thinking Oscar was gone.

Really hope Cal see's what he has here, 3 potentially elite bigs for various reasons, and finds a way to get a good rotation of all 3. As opposed to, riding Oscar for 35 mpg, and then not having Ugo ready come march.

Then it hits you that Calipari is the guy in charge. It’s at that point that Daffy shoots himself in the face again.
We don’t need a stretch 4. It’s a gimmick. Meaningless with the roster assembled. A stretch 4 in Cals system is a liability. There is no room for a player like that. We are going to rotate 4 guys at center.? Guys like toppin, brooks, Derek Willis jumps out. They were all weak. Struggled to defend the 4. Willis was the only one who could stretch the floor but his defense was lousy and his motor was weak for a 4. we have a team full of guards we will have plenty of scoring and outside threats. Play Oscar and Bradshaw together. This isn’t brain surgery. Cal gets in trouble when he tries to force a piece. This team doesn’t need a stretch 4. We have edwards in a 4 guard lineup if needed.

They have to all rotate between two spots that will get them each roughly 30 mpg.
