I know it’s been a difficult season… and such, but who’s going? And will we have a lot of fans there?

Just not the year to go. I will pull for us but not spend $$ on a trip there. I hope we make it to MSG.

I’m shocked that as a 6 seed, we are the closest team to Greensboro of all the teams playing there (Kennesaw is closer by a. Hour or so, but they won’t have many fans) . We also don’t have any other powers there. It’s a very weak bracket from a viewers perspective:

Kentucky vs Providence
Play-in vs Iowa State
Kennesaw St vs Xavier
Montana State vs Kansas State

Duke and/or UNC would normally be in this bracket. Without them, we should have a pretty decent crowd.

I believe that attendance in Greensboro will be comparitively poor. There is no Duke or UNC or NC State or Wake Forest to drive local interest. Heck, there isn't even any team from the ACC coming unless Pitt makes it out of the First Four. Should be LOTS of resell tickets available.

I live three hours from Greensboro and had not even considered trying to go to any of the games there BUT then the committee drops Kentucky in my back yard. I would enjoy getting to see the Cats one last time this season (and one more look at Oscar) since I couldn't make it to Rupp for either the Auburn or Vandy games.

There were some unsold upper-deck seats still available last night and I was able to snag one for face-value. I'm in the house and planning to go. I might even splurge on a better seat Friday morning IF the resales are sluggish and asking prices continue falling.

Totally understandable. In my case Greensboro is a three-hour drive and there were still some seats available upstairs for face-value. I can drive home following the UK game without even splurging for a hotel.

Yeah, I didn't think UK would EVER get an NCAA game this close (1 hr from Raleigh) unless a regional final was in Greensboro or Raleigh, but even that I thought a long shot.

I have a work trip, so Friday isn't possible. But thinking of getting Sunday tickets now, because if we win Friday I expect UK fans to get tickets quick for Sunday. And since the tickets are sold by-session, AND since no NC teams (or even VA or SC) playing there I don't think there will be a huge sell off by disappointed Friday losers (not expecting a lot of Providence, Montana St, Kennesaw St, Pitt, Miss St, Iowa St fans there). And I realize if we lose Friday, I"ll be lucky to get back 50% of face value.

It says it holds 20K. Given the teams there, I would be surprised to see more than 10K non-UK fans there. I would guess on Friday there are:
Session 1:
3K Xavier
1500 Kennesaw St
1000 Miss St or Pitt (whoever wins)
1500 Iowa St

Session 2:
2000 Kansas St
1000 Providence
500 Montana St
8000 BBN

A few things.

1) I looked at all the sites. Considered Albany for a family trip at one point, but thought better of it

2) we never play in Greensboro and I never considered it as a possibility- especially not as a 6 seed (or lower)

3) I was driving to Pittsburgh last year when Kentucky was eliminated

Even if they lose Friday, I wanted to do something that would shake that memory as my last NCAA tournament trip

Bonus) we actually own a Montana State t-shirt. Purchased it at a Scheel’s in Montana last summer. Might have to break it out for the late game on Friday.

Count me in as one of the 8000.

GO BIG BLUE!

I bought my ticket before I knew which session. So I'm going to all sessions Friday :)

For anyone wondering, there aren't many bad seats in the place.

If we win, I'll plan to buy a session ticket for Sunday.

Just too good to pass up since I live 15 min from the coliseum.

Ill be there as I live in Greensboro. Never thought it would happen. I was SHOCKED when DOOK didnt get Greensboro. For some reason, the bracket reveal had the locations wrong and originally showed DOOKs region as Greensboro and quickly changed to Florida. My jaw dropped as I had a feeling the last Greensboro slot was going to have Kentucky. Immediately made plans to attend.

Go Cats!

Durham isn't a bad place. Well it's gotten much better the past 20 years. Crazy how such a elite/rich/private school is located in what was such a crime ridden place. But it has gotten much better.
haha! you should get out of Cary once in a while!
durham is not any different than any other city; there are good parts and some bad parts of town. i have been here since the mid 80's, and it has been a very nice place to live and raise a family. zero unemployment since i have been here. the only people who are unemployed are unemployed by choice. i will never forget leaving the Ashland area and moving here at 19-20 years old, and seeing burger king with help wanted signs offering two weeks paid vacation to flip burgers. the employment scene in Ashland at that time was so bleak and so few jobs available.

like others, i bought both sessions but i do not really care to go to the first session. i may just sell it back to ticketmaster.

see you guys on friday!

Lucky lucky. I mean I’m lying, I’d be there if I could. But it’s easier to say hell no not until we’re back to dominance!!!
I know what you mean. I was at that **** Sandwich last Friday night but if I could work it out, I would go to Greensboro. Just a different vib at NCAA tournament games. It’s fun.
