Another game our 1st half collapse cost us the game in the end.

Went from up 7 to down 5 in the final 3 minutes on a 12-0 Vandy run.

Excuses after the game:

-We had jet lag.
-They're just kids.
-We weren't 100%.
-You can't win them all.
-Vanderbilt had beer muscles.
-We tried.
-Guys wouldn't listen to me.
-I asked Tyler for advice, and he led me down the wrong path!
-There's too much pressure on these kids.
-Be patient!
-The fans were too loud.
-I promise the NCAA Tournament will be different.
-We needed to rest, anyway.
Don’t forget the time change to daylight savings time is coming up too……

Well they went small two games in a row and got us. Maybe we just don’t have the quickness. But I was hoping to see us combat it this time

With the injuries, we simply don't have the players. CJ is bad. Sahvir is out. Adou is green. Collins hasn't made the leap (understandably). It's only amplified with Cason being hobbled too.

He didn't even need tape on these guys, they kicked his *** like 9 days ago. Looks like he forgot he lost to Vandy the second the clock ran out at Arky.

FFS this jagoff would forget his wife's name if she didn't cut his eggs for him every morning. He can't remember who's on the bench and he's the frickin HC. Of course he forgot about Vandy kicking his lazy ***

This was an abysmal end to an abysmal season by a team that just doesn't play consistent basketball. This team will likely get bounced from the tourney in the first round by another made for TV Cinderella story. It's ok though, because this team was never going to compete in March. There are too many flaws with this roster, and not enough effort is spent by the coaching staff to coach around them.

Vandy will predictably get smoked by A&M tomorrow, and we will be left wondering how badly Cal will mail it in next year.

SEC officiating has always been corrupt as hell, and always will be as long as Cal is here. UK teams of the past had to fight their way through it, and did. Cal's teams usually do not have the will to fight hard enough to win a championship at UK. Just about anyone at the college level could have coached Anthony Davis and MKG to a championship. Those guys are not walking through the door.

The SEC and NCAA, however, broke Kentucky basketball after the Wisconsin game in 2015, and it has never quite been the same ever since. The Wildcat basketball I grew up with is gone, and I am not sure that the administration has the will to bring it back.

If you want better basketball, stop showing up to games. Stop buying tickets and jerseys. Stop talking about UK Basketball. Take away the beans and bean counters wake the f up

There is no way a sizable portion of the fan base is ever going to do this.

We’ve had rough years in a row now and Nashville was packed with Cats fans.

This^^^^^^.
Everyone b*tches about Cal's offense, and rightfully so, but the defense this year has been the worst I've seen under Cal.

You can't give up straight line drives AND wide open threes. But we do both.

It shockingly bad. And for a team that I mean beginning of the year people were raving about the incoming recruits and their defense. But no one has played good d on this team. Shocking.

It’s been an issue for awhile now with a lack of interior shot blockers. Been years since we had someone that could change the game there.

But this season it’s been dreadful

Or... now hear me out. The kids are simply not mentally tough to hit their free throws.
I think there’s something to that. What concerns me is when this doesn’t surprise others. That intuition or feeling of important free throws being missed at the most crucial time of a game becomes predictable. Even more concerning is when that same feeling occurs regardless of the roster turnover.

For a moment, let’s reflect on when Pitino first took over. He had local kids that no one else wanted. They lacked skills and were not prolific shooters. One of his many strengths as a coach was improving their confidence in making three pointers at a much higher rate than prior to his arrival. This was through repetition and altering of shooting techniques. He placed an emphasis on this, which remained throughout his time at UK. Essentially, you can see the similarities between all his teams. You can arguably say the same for Cal’s teams as it relates to free throw shooting. Part of being a coach is understanding the strengths and weaknesses of your team and improving their weaknesses. I feel the problem is quite evident when similar results occur across multiple decades of teams. Either he’s the most unluckiest coach as it relates to free throw shooting or he plays a part in its results.

Cal has got to find a rim protector for next year or we will be this bad again......

Did you see Toppin before the two he missed. He was closing his eyes and taking a deep breath waiting to go to the line. Felt pressure instead of seeing an opportunity

Certainly didn’t help he had seen O miss two big 1 and 1s

Cal has them tight as can be. The bull spit call for them to be desperate just put pressure on them.

Why not tell them you’re the better team now go out and show it.

Have to be desperate to beat Vandy lol

Cal seriously has no clue what he’s doing

Tbh... I think it's because they're not better. And that falls on Cal. His recruiting is always good, but he has to make multiple kids happy, be realistic with them, and hope they stay. Attrition always hurts us. But that's also these kids mindset. If they don't play year 1, they leave.
