The thing is, he has always been this way, said these things. But it wasn’t a problem until 9-16.

Do yourself a favor, when the game ends find something else to do. Otherwise you’re the guy watching the the post game just looking for something to be pissed about. Because you know you will be pissed.
Not at all "pissed". Just LOVE pointing out how narcissistic and hypocritical Cal is when it comes to his shortcomings. He has become LAZY and CONTENT with where this program is and when fans and media call him out for it, he CRIES.

I LOVE UK Basketball and want the OLD Cal back. I want Cal to get PISSED so he could find the motivation to prove the naysayers wrong AGAIN!!! That's the Cal UK hired and is paying $9 million/ year for!!!

I think he basically admitted to listening to Toppin, but that may not be enough to feed the fragile egos on this board. You consider this talking down to fans. Bless your heart . Runnin Richie is the fasted one on here to take credit for a win that he put together, planned, practiced for and executed without leaving his keyboard.
Not sure what you're talking about. You can't even spell fastest idiot.

Replace the word “posters” with “fans” and yes absolutely he did. Mission accomplished too because y’all are triggered by it. A lot of our fans love to hate cal more than they love the cats.

He’s prideful and spiteful. In my book if you win then you can talk ****.
Well, I wasn’t triggered.

Some of y’all are way too sensitive. Is it annoying that he pretends to know all, yes. Should we be offended when he says he didn’t make the change based on what fans say, no.

Of course. It doesn't matter to me. It's just words on a screen at the end of the day.
What’s funny to me is most of those guys will say “no one will want this coaching job when Cal leaves”. That group doesn’t even realize that they themselves are such die hard Cal fans, that they will support him no matter how bad he does. Even after the 9-16 season, some people were defending him so much that you would have thought he was a family member. Cal was admitting he done a bad job and they couldn’t even admit that lmao

Like I’ve said for years, Cal can’t get out of his own damn way! The most stubborn SOB on the planet! He’s literally cost himself and the University NATIONAL TITLES by refusing to go to a zone defense. That or pressing full court to take advantage of the wealth of talent, athletes, speed, etc. his teams have possessed. Not to mention, just not making adjustments at all, whatsoever.

I think it’s pretty evident there’s a group of guys on this board looking for identity and acceptance. They get that through commiserating in this common agenda to “Fire Cal”. It’s what gives them purpose and makes them feel part of a group. So, I guess in that light, it’s not really about truth, but about signaling a need to fit in.

The timing of this thread is more evidence of that. It was one of the best wins and coaching jobs on the season. Not just at Kentucky, but anywhere. But the take away here is hurt feelings.

LMAO the takeaway here is that Cal is an insufferable prick. He just can’t help himself. Has nothing to do with the fans. Why does Cal even need to say that? So he can somehow feel vindicated? What a joke.

Cal’s handling with the media this season has been the worst that I can remember in his time here. Yesterday on this board, I seen some of Cal’s biggest critics praising him. Then he takes a shot at fans and the negativity strikes again. Even if he feels that way, he shouldn’t have said that publicly. All it does is cause division with the fanbase.

I would like him so much more if he was even just a little humble and actually legit admitted fault for the decline we've been in.

Heck, he refuses to recognize that there's anything wrong at all. He talks like everything is great and we have absolutely nothing to complain about.

But then he blames 9-16 on covid and not having fans in the stands. He wants us there, but only when it's convenient.
Just like his postgame press conferences. He only does them when he wins but when Kentucky loses, he’s tired

Doesn’t offend me at all. He just sounds like an arrogant ***.
Ok. And in same postgame, Calipari said a lot of encouraging things about fans. Yet, an innocuous call out to people who want to play zone (which honestly doesn’t even make sense since we won) is what the fake outrage is over.

All of this in a context of a great win. It’s weird. But carry on

Thanks Cal. Here all us real UK fans here actually credited you for coaching a hell of a game yesterday. You didn't gloat or put us bennies down in the presser. I thought maybe for once you were going to be a graceful winner. You should know by now eveytime you win 2-3 straight games you gloat and take a stab at the fans. Next game you have a quad 3 loss.

Guess you didn’t listen to all of the post game interview with Leach. He said this game was needed for the fans. How Kentuckians have had it rough lately and many were without power and they wanted to win for those fans. He also literally thanks the fans at Rupp after every win and thanks them for being the best in the nation. Man, some of you get your feelings hurt so easily.
But this doesn’t fit some people’s agenda.

I’ve heard Cal this year post games and on his Monday radio show being super complimentary of the fans.

Cal talks like a man that is coaching his last games at Kentucky.
No, he’s been talking like this for the last few years.

He’s talking like a man who’s been empowered beyond reproach.

John Calipari used to echo the same thing the sports world had always said about UK fans, that they have a knowledge of the game like no other.

Now, according to Cal, we’re all morons and don’t know anything about the game because we didn’t play or coach at the Division I level like him. He makes these comments every time he reluctantly does something the fanbase has been telling him to do and it works. In this case, throwing in some zone defense to keep our opponent off balance.

Earlier in the year it was the “Benny lineup.” He’s just an arrogant man embarrassed to acknowledge when the fanbase is right.

With that being said, I think he did an incredible job coaching yesterday. Just too bad he’s not capable of complimenting the people he doesn’t always agree with when he’s wrong like I’m able to do.

What irritates me, is that Barnhart never publicly calls him out for his behavior.

The reason most of you are so upset it because there is truth in what he says. Most of you all have no actual experience in basketball other than being a fan. Your knowledge comes from what others tell you. Whether that be friends, media or so forth. No one takes what you say seriously aside from yourselves. No head coach is actually going to take any of your advice. There's a reason they are in their jobs and you aren't!
Yeah, but the fans were right with most everything we said this year and we were right in 2021 and we were right about the Shaedon Sharpe situation and we're right that draft night isn't the greatest night in UK history and we're right to say this team damn sure shouldn't have 10 losses right now, 4 of which were at home.

It's not like Cal is being critisized for things that aren't true.

He didn't fill all 13 scholarshios, so again, injuries have neutered us.

We were right about the Bennie lineup, he mocked us, but we were right.

We were right about not playing Wheeler 35mpg.

We were right about not playing Collins to get him over the loss of his dad.

We were right about getting Adou and Ugo more time to get them up to speed.

We were also right about playing different zone defenses to prevent dribble penetration, easy buckets and foul trouble.

Tell me where the fans were wrong.

Are we just supposed to sit quietly and watch the incompetence and let him just coast like Denny Crum did for 20 years?

UK is great because the fans, we support the program no matter where they play, but you can't just turn that passion off when a coach is driving the program into the ground.

You can’t reason with some of these guys. It’s interesting how they can’t accept that Cal makes mistakes. They aren’t rational at all

Obviously, there are a lot of thin-skinned people on this board.
I’m sure there certainly are, but this is a free fan message board that only exists because there is a huge passion for basketball. Not a bunch of inbred idiots who don’t know their butt from a hole in the ground.

I would think about this. If this thread is indicative of a bunch of people with thin-skin what does it say for a coach who makes $9 million a year to go out of his way to send a message to said fans?

Cal is a calculated individual, he could have simply stated toppin said let’s run a zone and it would have seemed like a player lead move that he always talks about that helps the team become better. Instead he threw a jab in at the fanbase that is the reason he is so handsomely paid.

It’s baffling how this relationship between cal and most of the fans got to this point when it was so high pre-Wisconsin game.

Yeah, there is no reasoning with them, but I keep bouncing them around so eventually they will realize how weird it is to be more of a Cal fan than a UK fan. That guy has ruined everything he built his first 8 years in a very short period of time.

I don't know what else the guy has to do to prove to his fans that he has lost it and he doesn't care.

I really, really want to like the guy, but he keeps giving me reasons not to.

I don't think there's anyone that wants him gone more than me. I beat that drum every day.

It sucks, because I used to be do impressed with him, but this UK job has turned him into an unlikeable narcissist and he refuses to even try to fix it.

This truly is a 10 year job max.
Bingo 10 years max and he’s 4 years past his shelf life!
