I'd say #23 is about right. And that's good. The team deserves some recognition after these 4 wins in a row. I gotta say, after that Georgia loss, I did not see a 4-game winning streak coming, especially considering the games were at Miss St (a team that has been on the rise), Tennessee (who had the revenge factor and we haven't swept in years), at Florida, and then home vs Auburn (who always seems to play us close under Pearl). I could have seen us losing any or even all of those games. To win all 4 has salvaged the season. It has also shown us that this team has the potential to be pretty good.

Texas western was another but been almost 60 years. Holy cross and Wyoming and a couple other random won it in 40s and 50s as well.

On the ranking its fine, doesn't mean much if we lose to Arkansas IMO. They will drop us right out again.

Wow 23rd.. Could be a lot more movement if some teams ahead of us lose and we can close out strong. Is a 4-seed in play??

They've been to a Final Four and an Elite Eight and have won 7 games in the tournament since the last time we even made a tournament appearance. And ironically in this conversation our last tournament win was against ... Houston. In a hard fought, tough game. Thankfully Herro saved our butts in that one.

Misguided on houston?
Houston's strength of schedule is number #104 in the country. Weakest of any of the top 20.
They haven't beat anybody since the first of the year. They lost Alabama when they did Play somebody good.


Like I said they ain't going to do nothing but lose before they can win six in a row.

Yes, misguided on Houston. No response to any of the other points I made. They've been really good the last few years. Numbers and NCAA tournament performances support that. Alrighty then :D

I'm very aware Houston University has won 1,2,3,4, and 5 games in the NCAA tournament. I'm also damn aware they ain't never won 6. Nobody has that's come from less than a power five conf in college basketball in a billion years. If your strength is schedule is number 104 in the country you're in for a Rick rude Awakening real soon...

We were in the tournament last year. Did you mean win one? Also, this is a silly argument when one of the 3 years was outright cancelled and we would've been a 2 seed in that one. I agree on Houston though.

Well I did mean since the last time we won a game in the tournament, not made an appearance but good call. PTSD from St. Peter's made me wipe the appearance from my memory altogether. I meant to say they've won 7 tournament games since the last time we won one. Which is true.

At Rupp Vs Cal, Pearl at UT has lost by:
11 in 2010
12 in 2011

at Auburn Pearl has lost by:
35 in 2015
20 in 2017
27 in 2019

Yeah. UK only had the Bahamas trip and several players returning from last year.

You Cal cult guys are so bizarre.

Only reason this season changed is because Cal was forced to play the right players because of injuries.

I guess I was thinking of recent history. As you've posted here, it was only a 6pt game in 2020, only a 2pt game in 2021, and they beat us last season. So, I may have overstated the case by saying "always" and should have said they have played us close "in recent years." Also, you left out a few. I didn't say "at Rupp Arena," you specified that. I just said the matchup has been close since Pearl arrived, which is true. Last 12 games, it's 6 to 6.

Gonzaga has played...

#23 Kentucky

Cats have played Bama, UT(2X) and KU---Also #24 Texas A&M. Pretty strong.

I don’t think we matchup well with Alabama. I don’t want their bracket. I hope that they mess up because of the drama but who knows.

Yeah take away the SC and Georgia games and we would be looking really good, I still am happy but I wish those blemishes were gone.

Take away the SC loss and add one big win from the OOC and it’s a totally different outlook on this season. We are our record though, but this team has been trending upwards the last month or so. Would love to try and finish the year 6-0 before tournament play.
