The Vols are extremely overrated

I will never understand why after a big win someone has to diminish it and say we'll they aren't good or they are overrated.
Maybe they aren't top 5. Maybe they aren't even top 10 as their ranking would have suggested.

But that's still a good team come on now.
If KST is still 12th after losing 4 of 5 then I'm good with TN being 10th after beating #1 Bama them losing to us on the road in 1 week.

Pretty obvious that Tennessee is a excellent defensive team but, below average on the offensive side.
This UTeee team looks a lot like Rick Barnes' Texas teams.

Yep. They are like the opposite of us

UT 67th offense/1st defense
UK 15th offense/89th defense

They need to get better on offense or else they could get bumped earlier than expected in the tournament IMO

Damn, our defense is 89th? Oh damn. I knew it was bad, but wow.

They were much better than 89th the last 2 games though.

Why in the hell can some of you all not just be happy?

Talks about UT being overrated when they just beat Alabama this week.

I get it if people want Cal gone, totally understand. Doesn't change the fact that today was a really good win. Cheer for your team for the love of everything holy.

Some of have taken their hate of Cal to hate for the program. That is just wrong.

I'm probably the biggest Cal critic, but he did a great job today and UK got a huge win.

I came away thinking UK could he turning a corner, but this thread sucked the life out of that thought.
This one seems fairly tame compared to a couple others but I relish our team winning and making some people unhappy. I'm weird that way I guess. 🤣

Yeah especially today.

Who knows maybe we could be like that 2015 Duke team and suddenly play good defense at the right time of the season.

Another thing about the defensive number that's a bit misleading is.............teams are shooting like 75% from the free throw line vs us this season. 334th. That's nothing more than just simply bad luck. So a portion of that is baked into our defensive number that you'd have to imagine would turn around at some point. Clearly did today with UT not hitting from the line.

Sometimes there's things that are such outliers it's doubtful they don't turn at some point. Like UT has a great defense, but they are holding teams to 24.9% from 3 this season. I figure that's another stat that might turn around at some pt.

It’s so odd to see a Cal coached team so bad defensively. We have size and talent, so yeah, we could be one of those teams that ends up turning it on eventually.
I really think part of it is Oscar backing away in an effort to stay out of foul trouble. Gotta fix that.

Definitely. Especially with the way the refs were calling that second half. Oscar knows how important it is for him to stay on the court with this team. At some point when he gets into foul trouble I feel like he is so scared to pick up another foul the defense slips.

Cause I mean look at that first half. It wasn’t called like that and everyone played great on defense that half.

I know refs aren’t specifically tied to conferences but year in year our the SEC is like this in conference. I don’t know if it’s the refs, SEC teams being more aggressive driving to the hoop or a combo of both. You just get these foul feared matchups.

Thankfully they also called a ton on UT as well this game so at least it worked both ways. Their guys getting into some foul trouble helped.

His issue is, he picks up really dumb fouls. Every screen he sets he spreads his feet way apart and it's an easy foul to call. He got called on it today.

Then, he plays defense in the post with his hands down and bites on pump fakes. If he fixes that stuff, he would stay out of foul trouble easier.

LOL I just listened to the Tennessee post game spaces on Twitter, and there hosts just said the Rupp-erees showed up for Kentucky, and if Kentucky play good in the first half they would have won. LOL they are the dumbest fanbase in the SEC

They are without a shadow of a doubt the dumbest fanbase. Complete knuckle-dragging clowns that think they're relevant.

They’ve beaten 5 ranked teams including the number 1 team this week. If they’re overrated the whole country is.
Yeah, I think this win says more about UK than Tennessee. They were off in the first half, for sure and missed shots, but UK's defense contributed to that greatly. Their defense is why they've been so good. In the 2nd half, they showed why they're rated highly.

But what this game shows me is that this UK team should have a much better record than they do. But once again, it's a mental issue I think- when shots are falling, they play solid D, and they can beat anyone. When shots aren't falling and teams punch them in the nose, they tend to wilt under the pressure, stop playing good defense, and end up letting the game snowball out of control.

With all that in mind, today we had a great start, made shots early, played strong defense, and held them off in the 2nd half.

I will say this one change I've seen in these last 2 games. It's Chris Livingston. He has made a big difference. He's scored the ball and has become another threat. He's defended well. He's been rebounding to help Oscar. He's even made some threes. That's significant.

Livingston has quietly became my favorite player on this team. He started the year slow, and I’ll admit I was seeing another Khalil Whitney situation unfold in my head, but boy was I wrong. He never gave up and ceased his opportunity. He plays hard, man, and I love how he hits the offensive boards. I’d kill to get 2-3 years out of him.

At the end of the day, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more wide open year. Just get in and I truly think 25-30 teams this year will be capable of cutting down the nets. It’s gonna depend on who’s hot at the right time, and while I’d be a fool to put high expectations on this team, healthy I think we absolutely have a punchers chance.

For sure I was saying the same thing, if Kentucky just wins the 3 games they should have won in Michigan state, scar, & Georgia,
And maybe add Arkansas at home, they shouldnthave gave up that ridiculous run to start the second half against Arkansas. If Kentucky wins those games they should have they are 22-5 and are in line for a potential one seed or high 2 seed. But Kentucky is playing better, let’s just hope they keep the momentum
