It was not his fault, no need to boo Fitz. If you want to Boo try Mullen, the OL and the WR's that drop passes.

Agreed. He had his bad moments, but overall he was set up to fail with our poor o-line play and dropped passes

Agreed. The fumble was on the OL. Changes were made (although temporary) and a few boo birds could be heard. I don't think it was many people, but still too many. State has lots of problems and Fitz isn't in the top 5 of those problems.

Nah, Fitz deserves his share of boos. He ain't the guy. He doesn't work hard enough or prepare like a player in his position needs too. The body language of the team says it all, the wrong guy is taking the snaps.

The answer isn't here yet. He gets to school next semester. (Hopefully)

Buckle up, our fan base is about to be put through a year we haven't experienced since Croom. It's a complicated cluster f*ck that has been multiple failed recruiting classes in be making.

Thompson plays for the first two years he is on campus? It ain't happening. I am so sick of state fans talking about some high schooler changing things.

Fitzgerald isn't the problem, it's the stubborn attempt to take him away from running an option attack and making him a drop back passer. He should carry it 25 times a game and have it off to Williams or shump another 25. That is how this team could have won 7 games.

But doing the simple, obvious thing doesn't make Dan Mullen look like the genius that he is.

lol.

Dan only knows one system for a QB and he can't change. Just look at what he tried to do with T Russell by making him run the spread.

I really believe that Dan just got lucky by working under Urban and rode his coattails to a $4+ million job at MSU.
Good coaches can adapt their offense to their players abilities. Mullen can't do that.

Fitzgerald isn't the whole problem. The fact the well is dry at QB is a Dan Mullen problem, no doubt.

Fitzgerald's off the field drama and lack of respect in the locker room is well documented at this point. If you can't read the body language on he field I don't know what to tell you. Fred Ross had his worst game as a Bulldog today. He's checked out and on to the NFL. Can't get out of here fast enough.

I feel really sorry for any of you who think Nicky Fitz is still the guy, you are on a sinking ship. The guy doesn't give himself a chance to succeed.

Exactly. The guy misses easy progressions. That's preparation. He has had three years to study this offense yet his head is stuck on a receiver from the snap. Ware said it multiple times yesterday. Ross isn't doing himself any favors by not giving his all but Fitz is problem 1a. And yes Mullen shoulders some blame for putting us in a position where our starting QB threw for a whopping 43% in high school.

He may not come in and start right away, but Thompson actually showing up on campus is pretty damn important to the future of the program. Firing Mullen this year pretty much guarantees he won't be here, so that definitely has to be a consideration (albeit not the only consideration) when it comes to whether or not we should retain Mullen. Fitz is not going to be the guy long term, I'm afraid.

As for the students booing Fitz, I think it's as much a personal thing as a game day performance thing. Ask them and then you'll understand. And it's not going to get better I don't think. They'll overlook the personal stuff only if he's winning.

Our fans booing anyone on this team is completely classless. On another note I agree this team doesn't like Fitz and does not go 100% for him. This is another problem that lands on Mullen you can control the half *** effort woth punishment in practice. I agree with boobies' twitter rant. Should start over this week. I position is safe

This is right on. You might want to just take TNT's word for it and not ask any students. Just understand that there is something more to their booing.

This is what I'm saying. He's a problem. On and off the field. It's time to wipe our hands and move on.

Um, that wasnt just students. I dont sit anywhere near the students and the boos were all around. The conversations I was near after the game were blaming the O and D lines as much or more than Fitz.

What makes you think they were booing Fitz specifically and not the abortion of a play in general?

I don't care who the QB is, he's not to blame for the defense giving up 35 points in the 1st half to a team that had only scored 3 TDs in the 3 non-gimmie games they've played. And it's not his fault he's playing behind a Sunbelt Conference line, or that his coach insists on running the RB with only 1 yard per carry after contact up the middle 10 times a game, or that his wide receivers drop multiple passes right in the hands every game. Over the years, we've won a lot of games with worse QBs than Fitzgerald.

Well I don't know any students so could you please tell us what you mean by this? How could it be personal? I don't understand how an entire student body can be united in their personal dislike for anyone.

It was at the end of the 2nd half after the fumble for a TD and we brought Fitz back out. I sit on 35 towards North Endzone and if definitely started from the student section.

I don't know exactly…

What kind of drama has Fitz had off of the field?

And i don't even know if it is true or not, but I keep hearing bad things unsolicited from all kinds of directions. Always unflattering, and always from somebody with no real beef.

if it's true, it's really a problem. Tough to go from a quarterback who was a leader, and the team believed in to the opposite of that. Mullen more than anybody should be sensitive to this fact.

A lot of students were booing because Mullen kept sending Fitz out. There were a lot of students booing every time we did something dumb (running Holloway up the middle, the TD to make it 28-0), it just didn't get as loud as when Fitz kept getting run out. I don't have a problem with booing when you don't think the effort on the field is worth a crap.

He's a complete dick to most everyone on campus. He likes to "party" too much. There's other rumors floating around about him, which I won't post without DS or HD6 graces, but you can probably figure it out.

I heard a guy sitting near me repeating some things that his daughter has said about Fitz. It all sounded like the kind of things girls say when a guy doesn't give them the time of day. This guy was repeating it. Geezzz.

Fitz isn't the issue other than his leadership needing to improve and just

needing more reps to settle in. The line of scrimmage both sides and out defensive coaching appear to be pretty bad. Get off Fitz.

I'm gonna go ahead and apologize for this rant....

Here's my view as a current student and lifetime MSU fan:

1. Bear with the students with regards to booing players/coaches or whatever it is that pisses us off. Think about it, the current Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors have experienced the most successful time in MSU history. The Juniors and Seniors watched us rise to #1 and I'm so thankful to be a student during this era. But think about the students who weren't MSU fans before they enrolled in school. They don't know how bad we were pre-mullen.

2. Fitz is not very well liked among his peers. With regards to his off the field antics, I feel like everyone was willing to give him a chance, but I think he's lost his chance and won't ever be successful at state (just my honest opinion).

3. Dak. Every current student only knows Dak. The seniors now were freshmen in 2013 when we saw how great Dak could be. When Dak showed up on the Jumbotron for an advertisement (can't remember what company it was for), the student section erupted. Isn't it sad that the most excited students got was when a former player was on the jumbotron?

Actually his fumble led to the 35th point, the defense didn't give that up.

Also he missed a wide open guy in the flats on a key third down before the missed field goal to start the game.

Also he hasn't shown he goes through his progressions or has any impromptu ability at all.

What QB won a bunch of games that was worse than Fitz? If you say Relf then you don't know **** about football. Relf didn't do things to hurt us. He protected the football and converted third downs. It has to be Relf you are referencing which is facking laughable. What a dumb statement.

So you are ok with the fact he doesn't prepare like we have asked him to and the team doesn't respect him for it? QB is the most important position in football and we have a guy who doesn't put the time in at that spot. It starts with him, or whoever is at QB under Mullen, and is exaggerated by our other many problems.

Until I hear the guy has changed off the field I got nothing for him and will not defend him.
