Wright, Lawrence, and Manjon are all good guards who can ahoot, and wright plays good against Kentucky. Stuite is a stretch four and Kentucky will have to watch out for him. Mallara-brown vs Oscar is a huge advantage for Kentucky. Vandy are bad defensively like most vandy teams but this vandy team is better offensively than most teams

FPI somehow had us at 63% v Ole Miss. Ole Missnis the worst team in the SEC, yet they think we have a better shot to beat Vandy.....made no sense.

Not mentioned in the OP is that we will be without our best player and starting center, Liam Robbins. Robbins averaged a little over 13 ppg, 6 rbs, and 3 blocks, so it’s a huge injury for us going up against UK. On top of that, emerging freshmen 4 star center, Lee Dort just got hurt too. Dort and Robbins would have played a huge role vs Kentucky considering Oscar the Goat roams the blocks for y’all.

So, a game a week ago I honestly thought we would beat UK soundly is now a game where we should get crushed because of the mismatch down low.

We have one shot and that would be just scoring the hell out of the ball. Wright is solid, Ezra “Filet” Manjon is probably the quickest guard in the SEC and Tyrin Lawrence is really turning into a heck of a player. Myles Stute, probably my least favorite VU player of all time, can still shoot it but he’s going to be asked to rebound the ball against Tshiebwe and I don’t like his chances there.

Two wildcards for Vandy are Trey Thomas and Noah Shelby, we will need them to make open looks from 3 to have a chance.

I just don’t see it though. What I do see is that it won’t really matter what UK does or how they shoot it, I think y’all just offensive rebound and end the possessions with layups and dunks. I’d bet a reasonable amount of money that’s exactly how it goes.

Glad to see the Cats are playing better ball, won’t be rooting for ya Tuesday night but hoping y’all keep it going and have a good run in the Big Dance.

Might be due to Vandy's injury issues. Got two guys out, including their best scorer apparently.

So did Wagner college

To be fair, we got Temple’s best shot and still beat them on the road. They had a guy go off for 38, they hit 14 threes (48.3%) and we still won. As you saw with Houston losing to Temple, their best is still pretty good.

You can see that when they don’t shoot it well though, they’re capable of some stinkers.

One other big advantage(at least for 1 half) our guys can't hear Cal yell "goooo, runnn or anything else. So you could be in trouble

How is the love / hate relationship here on Cal? Such a great recruiter and defensive coach but I know y’all have lofty expectations and KU passing the Cats in all time wins has to be problematic…

I’m a fan of the guy fwiw.

It's hard to tell because i'd guess that 80% of the posts on here are sarcastic or trolls just trying to get people fired up.

Most of us just love to hate him. Cal is kinda Jekyll & Hyde, if he would go back to being the best version of himself( I think we like the Hyde persona) instead of trying to save the world while he is coaching basketball things would be o k

Oh yeah, I wasn't crapping on Vanderbilt's win, it was a shot at Temple. They can beat anybody, but tgen lose to anybody.

Thanks for the analysis. The way this UK team offensive rebounds is the most unappreciated stats I've seen since I've been a UK fan. It's also the reason, despite the pre-lineup criticisms, UK has high metrics offensively.

With that being said, UK isn't good defensively right now and Stute could present a big time matchup problem in your favor if Toppin is hobbled or can't play at all. He's the only player we have with a proven track record of defending a stretch 4.

Georgia's guards gave us fits with simple straight line drives, I think Vandy will look to exploit that as well.

Either way, I am expecting a close game.

One of these days, I'm going to make it down to Memorial for a UK/Vandy game...one out of a handful of venues on my bucket list.

Memorial is a fun *** place to watch a game. I have tickets and a parking pass for my son and I to go tonight and my wife’s car is in the shop so I don’t have a way to get down there (daughter Has soccer practice). So I’m trying to figure that out.

Great gym, totally unique college basketball experience and loud AF during good games.

Hope you get to do it at some point.

I agree that Toppinnis the key that tips the scales in UK’s favor. If he can’t go, we may have a shot tonight. Totally agree with your thoughts in Stute.

Does Stack ever crack a smile ? Seems like he has a constant scowl on his face
If you were 10-9 and just lost year best player for months and had an invigorated UK squad coming to town, you would frown too.

This isnt rocket science people.

Stack's teams run great stuff and we struggle with spread offenses. Will be a fight.

Watch this guy tonight. Last year he did not even face the basket on rebounding, he simply turned and faced Oscar like an offensive tackle. He is a hack, big key if they remotely call the very clear body shots.
Hearing the refs will be:

Scotty Pippen Jr
Bryce Drew
Kevin Stallings

His only job is to muck the game up, he will grab and hold Oscar all night and set illegal screens like he does everytime

Really ,what is the beef with Stackhouse? I get that he dresses like a pimp and seems mad all the time but his teams play hard and he seems to get good mileage out of the talent he has

Uhhh, we’ve sucked for all 4 of his years here is #1. Haven’t even sniffed the NCAA tournament.

2) He admitted he wouldn’t recruit from day 1. He’s amended that and is making a minimal effort now but probably too little too late.

3) he’s blocking our fans on Twitter and has been from day 1. As of Sunday, he began the process of unblocking Vandy fans. This is relatively small but fans talk and he’s probably done it to 100 or more diehard VU fans including the vandysports.com rivals owner so that stirred a hornets nest.

Mainly lack of winning and lack of recruiting though. The dude can coach but you can’t suck for 4 years and get away with it.

I'm curious. Do you think Stack just doesn't enjoy recruiting or do the academic standards/restrictions at Vandy present a challenge he isn't willing to undertake personally?

Why don't we just cram in to OT every single time and get their only two bigs in quick foul trouble? Over with if they can't physically guard him when they get into foul trouble. Generally I don't like being one dimensional and like everybody involved and getting everyone going early. But with the situation of us needing to win every game now not a time to mess around much in any game.
