For the record I am and always have been planted firmly behind whatever is best for the long term success of Kentucky basketball. Many know me and have for the better part of 20 plus years. I don’t know you and could give a **** what you think of me. There was a time when a “source “ for me was a call to a coach on the Kentucky staff. Those were the days. We haven’t had connected sources here in years.

Guys don't let this out but I checked with some of my sources who are really in the know.

They say without a doubt unless Cal leaves after this season, he will be back next season.
I went back and checked with my sources after the Tennessee game and they are not waivering.

This is right. Someone misquoted me, Someone said I was going back to this person to make sure he is leaving. Both of those were wrong. Nothing has changed. They can believe, not believe, whatever. I thought it was interesting Mitch had a positive tweet about Cal yesterday. I think that’s the first one in a long time. Those guys are really bringing it to each other.

If Cal goes on record and says he is coming back next year (as opposed to I am only focusing on this team) then I might question this person. Cal isn’t known to be truthful though.
From the moment you made that post I went immediately in the “I’ll wait and see” mode . I would think all sensible people would do the same .

Keep on trying to cancel it then.
See that name by my photo? Thats me and I had to do that many moons ago because I wrote worked and reported for this and many other sites like this one’s predecessor. Always been a Kentucky fan but had to lose the UK “indymycats” due to bias. As far as folks like you I’ve been there done that. I’ve chatted with most of the current day power 5 coaches and rubbed elbows with the best of them back in the day. I’ve seen folks like you and your sources come and go. I will be point blank with you specifically. You are full of ****. Cal will be coaching UK next year and at some point between now and then your “source” will have A Change of heart. Yes this is a message board and unfortunately that gives jackasses the ability to jackass. To be clear I’m not saying Cal being at UK next year is good bad or indifferent. I too have issue with some of the things Cal does. I do feel your post and everything you've posted since is BS. Come talk to me in 6 months and we can reconvene. Until then I say you are 💯 fos. Unlike you when I say this is my last post and I then post 5 more times when I feel challenged, this is my last post. See you in May……..when Cal is still coach….

Let me say this…there’s no way to know 100% right now. Someone joked about Andrew Wiggins above - at one time that was a mortal lock and the sources were as solid as possible.

Billy Donovan once took a pro job then changed his mind. Bobby Cremins too, IIRC.

Whatever has been said, whatever anyone has been told, it’s subject to change over the next 2+ months.
Randall Jackson was definitely transferring to UK , I saw his uniform. Didn’t happen.

I don’t really have a dog in this fight but I want to ask you a question. As soon as he made the original post I immediately looked at his posting history. I looked back a long way . He’s been here since 2015 .He had never made an outlandish post like this before. Why do you think someone would put themselves and their reputation on the line like this if they were just making it up ? I’m not saying his info is correct, but I have a hard time believing he pulled it out of his *** .

It’s also possible Eli smoothed some things over , let Cal know where he and UK. stand and things are different now than they were 3 days ago . It’s possible Cal was able to discuss some things/concerns he has overall with him , etc . One things for sure , ‘Cal leaving’ rumors have made it up the chain and likely Eli flat asked him . Eli doesn’t want to be caught blind with his bball coach bailing on him
Why would Eli go all the way to Knoxville to have a come-to-Jesus meeting with Caliponzi?

I agree with you on this. That, and other people have been told the same thing. At this point all you can do is put it in the back of your mind and wait. Because nothing will be proven for a few months. Something everyone should keep in mind; how would a rumor that Tubby's agent was talking to Minnesota in December of 2008 have been taken on this board, back then? We have since leaned that actually happened. Anyone claiming it at that time would have been killed for it.

Definitely a good idea. Always value the opinion of posters that can’t disagree without hurling vulgarities and hurt feelings- not to mention running to the teacher. Soft

Again, you're anonymous. You're not burning a bridge-the bridge doesn't know who the hell you are. So quit the dramatics, back it up with who told you and why is it they told you.
If this guy doesn't want to burn his source, that is his call. Just stop. In my experience, predictions here or on other fan chat sites are seldom correct. But this guy seems certain, and has suggested that we bookmark this thread. Either he will be correct or he won't be.

This poster has not said or implied anything personal about other posters. Every poster has an equal right to anonymity. So often, posters who don't contribute much substance are taking shots and trying to chip away personally at other posters who are just trying to discuss the sport.

I don't think it is much of a mystery anymore that a big trust gap has opened up between Calipari and UK's fans. Every day, people are talking about it all over town. In the postgame presser yesterday, the first thing out of Calipari's mouth was about the flack he is catching from fans. This is obviously getting under his skin, and that's his business. When an egotistical guy like Calipari reaches his limit, he can always use his fame to take his act elsewhere. I am not saying it will happen, since I am sure Calipari would love to bring Wagner and Edwards in here and prove the fans wrong. I don't know what Calipari will do. If someone else thinks they know, then good for them. What is so different about this from hundreds of other fan predictions every week?

Was your Tubby-era posting name “Brian Boone”?

Seriously. He’s either going to be right or he’s going to be wrong. Only thing that’s going to tell us for sure is when the time comes. I’m sure OP will come right back to this thread hat in hand apologetically if he misses on this one. And I’m sure it’ll go 25 more pages with people making fun of it. And then, it’ll be deserved.

If he’s right, will all the people making fun of him in this thread extend him that courtesy? I somehow doubt it.

if he's right, not sure how some around here will post again the way they are acting

of course they will, and they'll make excuses like he still didn't know what he was talking about and it was a coincidence. because that will be the only move they have left to save face.
I will 100% say I was wrong. He was right. No problems there at all as I’ve said in many posts I appreciate the info and it could very well be right!

What’s disturbing is those of us with any dissension are treated like near fools for even having the audacity to question whether this is true.

to each his own

I just don't understand the need to call a long standing poster with no history of posting insider info, who probably is in a position to just happen to hear something, a POS, for posting something he was told.

If it works out great (or not depending on your own preferences), if it doesn't, he'll be around to own it.

for only the second time in 30+ years, I happen to have a connection to one of the players on the team, I've been told some stuff (not about Cal), but I was asked not to mention it, so I haven't.

it happens.

Agree. For awhile now, probably a year or more. A select few have predicted Cal’s demise here after this year, or even before. I’m one. I have no source. Doubt if most others do either, too soon to say in this case. I’m basing my responses on history. I’ve been around awhile, and all signs point towards a divorce of UK and Cal, very soon. If I’m wrong, feel free to tar and feather me and others like me. I will admit I was wrong, but I won’t lie and say I was on the fence. I truly believed. And, before it’s brought up, the OP isn’t one of the ones I’m referencing like me. This is my heat to take or not. I just happen to believe him, for different reasons.

Even if OP was told this, the notion that Cal won't change his mind by the end of the season is BS. No way to know this-- that part at least is pure speculation.

As of now, there is no other evidence to suggest Cal is leaving, and some contrarian evidence to boot. It's possible Cal doesn't even know what he will do at the end of the season.

The people scoffing at the idea that Cal might leave are the exact same people who scoffed at those saying Sharpe would never play here.
Exactly what I was thinking. Matter of fact, there were 2/3 people in the know about Sharpe on HOB. They swore up and down for months that Sharpe wasn’t gonna enter the draft and play this season. Well, we see how that went.

They probably legit had sources. Just giving benefit of the doubt. Sometimes, either those sources are wrong or things change.

If a guy says he’s literally been told by someone, how can you say “it sounds like he’s just hoping.” Lol

If you’re saying he’s just hoping, then you’re saying he’s lying. Fine. You are saying he’s lying about what he’s been told. But nothing about this sounds like “OP is just hoping.”

Where do y’all come up with this stuff?

Man, this thread is crazy. I’ll outlast Cal and numerous others on this thread. If my source is wrong, and I bought it, so be it. I am not a runner (or puppeteer).
