After losing to a mid-avg team like south carolina, what coach turns the team into winning on the road at #5 Tennessee? John Calipari, that's who.

But historically, his effort is effy some times.

Im happy we got the win though.

OP I’m assuming we heard this from the same source…should be interesting coaching search. All these posters wishing Cal gone that class he’s bringing to another school is really gonna hurt.
But I do think he’s had it with us and a change will be for the best from both sides.
And another “source”. LOL

We still sure that he is leaving after the season? Team looked into it today, and really fought for the first time this year. Find it hard to believe a team would come out with this amount of energy and hunger if they all knew their coach wasn’t completely committed/looking for a way out.

Here’s Cal likely telling Dejuan he’ll be coaching his son at a different school next year…

Look, this is the one and only time I am going to respond to posts like this. I told what I heard, credible source, said don’t believe it if you don’t want to. Said I don’t care if you don’t believe it. If you don’t understand that just keep reading the next to last sentence in this response.

His point was valid. You’re trying to convince people here it’s a done deal while hedging.

Man you are going to have your doubters man don’t let them detour you. Keep posting man most enjoy any information you can provide and most understand that things might change even though I still don’t believe they will even though we won a game today. It’s still doesn’t make up for the crap the program has been through over the past several of seasons!

For the record: I do NOT think it’s “acceptable” what the program has looked like the last 3 years. Why are you conflating that with me doubting a source knowing and saying Cal is leaving?

I thought this thread wasn’t “should Cal leave?” But rather “Source says: Cal IS leaving” ??

The poster is hedging already. Page 1 first few posts says “it’s true”. Now it’s “he may leave, he may not”.

Yes it will. One game does not make 5-7 seasons. He needs to go. Period.
Are E8’s bad, especially ones where refs played a role in outcome? No.

16 bad
17 good (rooferee hosed us)
18 bad
19 good (refs swallowed whistle last 10min)
20 good (ncaa-t canceled)
21 worst ever!!!
22 good except last 2 games
23 looking bad, but could turn around

Why are you getting so defensive? I thought you heard definitely he is leaving… but it just seemed like you were hedging.

I’m just looking at the evidence that he’s recruiting in UK gear on UK’s dime? Your source could very well be spot on — no doubt. Just an even worse look if he is bouncing (clearly, according to your source, he’s already made that decision)

Maybe it will, maybe it will not. Either way, one win doesn’t change the last several years. We are 2-3 in the SEC and ranked 9th in our conference. We are a bubble team. This season, coming off the St Peters debacle, has not been good.
Yea but none of that has to do with contracts. Sounds like wishful thinking

He gone if Texas really has 11 mil on the table. Cal is not a Texas kind of guy but he certainly is an Austin kind of guy plus his good buddy and best friend Rick Barnes is right there to give him the scoop and the contacts. If they want Cal they got him and his #1 class. Only way he is back next year is they passed on him.

Would you be loyal to Memphis if Kentucky came calling? He brought Antigua back and added Coleman for recruiting. It paid off for next year. That is a fact not a try, and I am sure that is a plan going forward. That plan was working pretty good until coach K derailed it. Now, maybe the last few years he had to make the best of it, until he could get the recruiting back where it used to be.
Thanks for admitting I'm right. Trust me, he won't hang around one second longer than he wants to, and he won't give his assistants a second thought unless he takes them with him too.

Like to see cal leave soon as possible, don't see no one matching his salary. Still think this team is not very good.

OP, please go back to your source and get details. If he's truly taking another job, is it Texas, another school, a non-coaching job? Then we will know specifics and can gauge if your source is legit at seasons end.

I love these annual I’ve got sources folks. They come out guns ablaze. Then there’s the softening of the stance faze. That leads right into it must have turned in the last 48 hours faze. Never fails. This was a 50/50 hot take from the beginning. As bad as it was when originally posted around here anyone could have made the original post. I believe “sources”. when they say something is happening and then it does. Not when they start back pedaling and need to go talk to “their guy” again.

Let me say this…there’s no way to know 100% right now. Someone joked about Andrew Wiggins above - at one time that was a mortal lock and the sources were as solid as possible.

Billy Donovan once took a pro job then changed his mind. Bobby Cremins too, IIRC.

Whatever has been said, whatever anyone has been told, it’s subject to change over the next 2+ months.
