I know someone inside the BB program and he told me the other day that CCC is an egotistical prick. Take it for what it’s worth.
Rupp defeated Duke at least seven times. UK over Duke in 31, 32, 56,58,59,64,66. I don't think Rupp ever lost to Duke. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
OP I’m assuming we heard this from the same source…should be interesting coaching search. All these posters wishing Cal gone that class he’s bringing to another school is really gonna hurt.

That class would have been interesting to watch. Hopefully whoever the new coach is they’ll bring some players as well. I think the future is bright. Be interesting to see what Cal says about the rumors. Before the season he said he loved it here and was going to retire here. Recently he said he hadn’t spoken to any other teams and was focused on this team. I think that answer was telling
I don’t look for him to answer this question any differently until he leaves.
I guess the new coach should work for coupons and gift certificates or he can be considered a selfish prick. I am sure his arrogance, pride, his coaching staff's security and that fact he has the #1 recruiting class may also be deciding factors to stay.
What about his coaching staff, don't you think he has a obligation to them since he convinced them to come to help with recruiting. His best teams were # 1 recruiting classes.
Since he’s leaving I wonder if the players know? If this is the case I wonder how it’s going to effect the rest of the season on and off the court? This is already an ugly season but man it’s going to get even uglier!
Cal wants to be loved. He is more thin skinned than people realize. Having that recruiting class puts him in a much more valuable position to another team. Sure he knows this. Also, if he was to stay and bring this class in the expectations would be through the roof. Another flame out would limit his options. He can leave- take the class with him- and be worshipped again.

I don’t see how they don’t. But I don’t think he told them. The big thing is unsigned recruits. Pretty sure some of them know.
To be honest I hope it starts to leak soon so it gets out in the open.

I think next year's class is still too much of a "what if" for all parties involved, even many fans. Because it may be true we have 1 or 2 bad apples on this team. And if you combine that with subpar talent and coaching, then it's just not going to work.. but a class with 3 top5ish players could be totally different, especially if the team cancers are gone next year.
And I don't think all these guys are following Cal to a new school. So I get the sense that next year is still on the table.
Now, if we keep losing and miss the tournament, then that will change things of course.

If he's planning an exit strategy to a new coaching job I'd imagine he'd absolutely try his best to maintain relationships w/ the top recruits. He already knows he's taking players w/ him when he goes
He's already shown that he's not that kind of loyal guy. Remember when he left Memphis? He literally told Xavier Henry the day before he left that he was staying. He was very public about not taking the UK job despite his secret intentions. Nice try, but Calipari isn't some sort of saint, despite your best efforts to whitewash him.
And by the way, the last three years haven't been worth paying him so much as a gas coupon.

Would you be loyal to Memphis if Kentucky came calling? He brought Antigua back and added Coleman for recruiting. It paid off for next year. That is a fact not a try, and I am sure that is a plan going forward. That plan was working pretty good until coach K derailed it. Now, maybe the last few years he had to make the best of it, until he could get the recruiting back where it used to be.

Those statements were made to prove how badly Cal needs more assistant coaches that Cal has asked for and MB will not approve the hiring of more staff for Cal.
That statement was in no way meant to be detrimental to Cal (even though it is), it was put out there as evidence to support the gist of the article which is this: Cal is great. Mitch sucks. MB is the person tearing down the bb program. Not Cal. Cal is the victim. MB is the bad guy........Cal is great.

Seriously? Coach Rupp WAS forced out by rule. And a lot of UK fans wanted him gone.
By rule, like you said. And I was at every home game back then and I know no one that wanted him gone. Not saying you're wrong, just telling you what I experienced
I’ll find out more late next week. But a recruit was told to not sign anywhere until after the season. A recruit that would be valuable once Cal left with half the team.
