Kentucky will defeat LSU easily at home tonight. LSU had their Super Bowl last week by beating at the time the number 9 ranked Arkansas Razorbacks at home in their last game. Prepare for a complete LSU meltdown tonight, and it's called the Arkansas Effect!

Just trying to lighten it up a little here before game time, in all seriousness, good luck against the Murray State Racers from Baton Rouge tonight.

Will Musselman be the 2nd Arkansas coach that would “crawl to Lexington”

I don't think so, for several reasons. Arkansas has entirely too much money to be outbid for Musselman, if it's only about money, he won't leave. His wife has family in the state and from everything that you hear or read, him and his family love Fayetteville Arkansas.

Now, if he wants to try the NBA again, or if UCLA opens up, either one of those could be intriguing, because he is a west coast guy.

Thank you. I read often and make many unintentional bad picks in "Old Reds" games, but as you know, there are plenty of arguments here and in my opinion, less legitimate basketball talk like it was many years ago. This board used to be hands down the best in the land.

I was mostly kidding; Muss is a very impressive coach.

Don't think he would leave Arkansas for UK either. We will strike out with all hires and Barney will hire holtman from osu.

He sure is, the entire staff is. Every time that I listen to one of his press conferences it makes me feel completely basketball dumb. He was breaking down the LSU roster prior to the game and I heard him say that him and the staff had been watching film trying to figure out the tendencies, strengths and weaknesses of each player and I think he said for instance, #12 KJ Williams has 93 field goals so far on the season with only 23 dribbles.

Details such as that are constant with this staff.

Mussleman would leave for UK in a heartbeat. And Arkansas won’t outbid UK if it comes to that.

I provided my reasons on why I didn't think so, please provide your reasonings on why you believe that it would be so easy for Kentucky to get him.

You said a lot more, and better. Used to be. Says it all.
To add, my son got his masters at Arkansas. He loved his time there. Wife and I visited a couple times and Fayetteville is a good place to spend a few days. 12 hour drive sucks though. Armadillo heaven. Must have picked up a couple on the way back, cause they’re here now.

I actually hope you’re right. There are other coaches i prefer over musselman. I do think arkansas will fight to keep him tooth and nail. Been trying to tell other uk fans that very thing.

One, we’re Kentucky. It’s one of the premier gigs in college Basketball. If he wants it and Kentucky wants him, he’s coming to UK. Memphis essentially offered FedEx to keep Cal when UK was courting him (the door…lol) and you see how that worked out.

We used to have many great hoops discussions with some fun, light hearted back and forth smack, now it seems to be much more personal attacks with zero substance drive by comments.

Good luck tonight and the rest of the season, except for the games against Arkansas!
Nineties days were fun. Nolan and Rick. Games were pure war. Remember Rick in cowboy boots? lol

Well we’ve outbid for about every coach gotten. Only guy we’ve lost was pitino to his northeast /NBA lifestyle

All your coaches have come from smaller conference jobs.

Arkansas isn’t a destination job…

Personally I have never felt like he would be a good fit for the real, not current, Kentucky basketball program. If he likes living in Fayetteville and that situation, with all due respect, he would never be comfortable in Lexington

I’d start with Jay Wright offering a blank check, then Brad Stevens, Billy Donovan, then maybe Musselman.

Arkansas hasn't had a coach leave for another job since Sutton in 1985.

Granted only Nolan and now Muss are any good since then but traditionally coaches in all sports don't leave once they're having success here. I think NIL has really changed the way some coaches look at "better" jobs now. If you can essentially buy a top 5 class at an Alabama then why leave for a North Carolina type program and get the same results with added pressure.

I agree...I guess my point is all your coaches have come from smaller schools to Arkansas.

Have you ever pulled a P5 coach to come to Arkansas is what I was saying.

Nolan Richardson was from Tulsa
Stan Heath ...seems like he was a small school before Ark
John Pelphrey assistant at Florida
Mike Anderson - UAB
Musselman - Nevada

UK tends to pull from pretty established coaches when we get a new coach...and Mussellman looks like the kind of guy we'd target for sure.

Where did Sutton leave Arkansas for?

You forgot to factor in the Doug Shows effect of no home court advantage for UK.

Not to hijack, but what is Nick Smith's status? is he going to pull a Sharpe and sit out?
Looking forward to your hogs and Mizzou tonight.

Unless his advisors are in a coma they should advise him to sit out. He's a top-5 pick right now. Only stands to drop if he plays poorly.

Well I've said from the beginning of the season NSJ would be on/off all season at best, if he even played, and that he would probably sit. This was after talking with someone from UAMS which Arkansas uses as their doctors. After Europe he had discomfort. After the red white game it was apparent there was lots of inflammation. Him and his team met with UAMS who got him in touch with various specialists from professional sports. And from there has been the “right knee management”. At that time in Mid-November, I was told 7/10 he was done for the season. Obliviously he gave a it a go. My guess, having not spoken to that individual since, is that knee has inflamed with a vengeance after going full game speed For a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, once you are in season that inflammation ain’t going anywhere. Best case is that knee needs weeks and weeks and weeks of rest for inflammation to subside and rehab to boot. Inflammation isn’t going to go down by going 100% in games every 3 weeks. The time to heal that knee was in the time between Europe and the season. If he is smart he sits out.
