He did in the clutch just like St Peters last year. Missed vital free throws as wellI'm not a follower of plus / minus on today's game .. I'm no SW fan at all, but I thought he played pretty well ( for him) last night .. why was his +- so bad ? he didnt turn it over a bunch ?
That only works if the other team allows them to be open, our players don't move consistently, especially at crunch time.Wheeler needs to penetrate and pass to the corner shooters. He dribbles too much
Why does no one mention Wallace missed free throws in crunch time, not once but twice. He did in the clutch just like St Peters last year. Missed vital free throws as well
It doesn't fit the preferred narrative. Wheeler should be criticized for missing free throws and for having 3 turnovers, especially that last one that was a traveling call. But Wallace missed 2 of 4 free throws late in the game, and also had 3 turnovers and looked afraid to make a play with the ball in his hands. Wheeler made plays last night and Wallace's defense was elite. I think they should both start. Both must make those free throws. When 2 guards combine for 4-8 from the FT line, you're going to lose close games. Why does no one mention Wallace missed free throws in crunch time, not once but twice.
If you circle more threads, you’ll see plenty of people mention Wallace’s missed FT’s and TO’s.It doesn't fit the preferred narrative. Wheeler was one of only 2 players who actually MADE two threes last night. I would say only one of his 6 attempts was a poor shot, the last one that was taken from WAY downtown. Wallace was timid with the ball in his hands last night Cincy. Will you at least acknowledge that? Wheeler came in and made plays. He drove the lane and scored and ended up with 16 points and 8 assists. Oscar was the player of the game for UK but Wheeler was 2nd on that list. I know, it pains you to say so, but it's true. Someone has to make plays for the team to find easy buckets. I know you don't like his game, but he's got to be the starter- and I think he will be starting the next game. And he's got to make enough of those open threes to keep defenses honest. If he's making those shots, he can stay in the game. If he's not, sit him down. That's the best bet. Put Wallace at the 2 and tell him to get over his timidity and aggressively make plays. As for Reeves and Fredrick, both of those guys looked shaken by the physicality of Mich State last night. They've got to step it up too. Toppin has not been living up to the off-season hype at all. He made some shots last night but we need more. Oscar played a whale of a game for the most part but he took several unnecessary risks. He must stay on the floor. There are many lessons to learn from last night. I just hope they can learn them quickly, because the schedule isn't getting any easier. If you circle more threads, you’ll see plenty of people mention Wallace’s missed FT’s and TO’s.
You going to start Wheeler and Wallace with Fredrick, Toppin, and Oscar? Not going to work. Wasn’t working last night. You’ve got to have three guys that can shoot. And don’t tell me Wheeler and Toppin can shoot. Wallace’s shot is still questionable, so that lineup gives you one reliable shooter (and even his percentage ain’t looking so hot, and won’t get better with that lineup).
I spoke plainly elsewhere about Wallace. They both struggled and made crucial errors. But Wallace needs more time at PG to develop and not be shaky.Wheeler was one of only 2 players who actually MADE two threes last night. I mentioned it in another thread. Why does no one mention Wallace missed free throws in crunch time, not once but twice.
I definitely mentioned it in other threads -- CJ and Collins were total duds , most dissappointed in CJ , he's a veteran of college games but looked intimidated ... he did his Grady impersonation. He did play well but some want to blame him for everything.
Meanwhile we had no shows from Frederick , Reeves , Collins, Livingston.
I felt Oscar, Wheeler , and Wallace were the only ones that showed up last night .
We Simply can’t afford a no show from Reeves and Frederick , at least one of them need to be good on offense .
We need some shooters in the game.Wheeler needs to penetrate and pass to the corner shooters. He dribbles too much
I've mentioned it multiple times. He lost us the game. And he had TWO chances to win the game. (Yes I'm banking on Mich St not hitting a 3 to tie it either time)Why does no one mention Wallace missed free throws in crunch time, not once but twice.
Wallace is a big time recruit. I dont care that he's a freshman. Make your damn free throws, especially when you get TWO cracks at it. And on a neutral court. No excuses.I mentioned it in another thread.
Wallace missed key free throws. Wheeler missed key free throws. The difference is Wallace has played in 3 college games and Wheeler has played in about 70 or so games.
Got to give Wallace some time to grow.
Wheeler is what he is.
Agree.I've mentioned it multiple times. He lost us the game. And he had TWO chances to win the game. (Yes I'm banking on Mich St not hitting a 3 to tie it either time)

If you watched this game and didn't recognize that Sahvir Wheeler was one of the best players on the court, I don't know what to tell you.
That's just nonsense. Based on what?He can’t lead a team to a final four and that’s all we care about. Cason has got to develop by March.
I would say any player we have forced in any direction against the shot clock is not gonna end well.Once people force Wheeler right he’s pretty much done. Wheeler forced right with under 10 on the shot clock is never or very seldomly going to end well.
I would say any player we have forced in any direction against the shot clock is not gonna end well.
Yes this kills us. You surrounded Wheeler with shooters and we kick the hell out of Michigan state. It's not Wheeler it's all these one dimensional players that can't shoot or dribble that are on the floorWallace vs Wheeler isn't an either/or proposition.
Put Wallace/Wheeler/Reeves/Fredrick on the court at the same time.
The "weakness" of our lineups is that Cal has too many guys who can only really play the 5, one of them is the de facto backup to Oscar and is the worst player on the team. By a sense of necessity of getting them in the game, the 5's with limited perimeter skill get stuck playing the 4, therefore taking the opportunity away from more skilled players from filling in at the role.
This is how we have Collins, who has demonstrated little to no ability to dribble through over a year at UK, is playing the 4 alongside Ware at the 5.
Yeah how did we look after the foul trouble he got in princess?I don’t see anyone pumping Wheeler and his assist totals against Gonzaga. Oh, wait, he doesn’t have any.
Did you get your feelings hurt by that comment?Yeah how did we look after the foul trouble he got in princess?
Nah just can't believe how ignorant fans are.Did you get your feelings hurt by that comment?
You idiots bagging on wheeler when every one else is absolute garbage is assineNah just can't believe how ignorant fans are.
