I've heard the same. I know a guy who owned (maybe still does) one of the cotton district bars. Looked into opening there before Dawghouse - but the lease was so ridiculous (monthly rent plus a down payment and other obligations) he just said 17 it.

I was under the impression they had bought the building prior to opening? Don't remember where I got that from. May have made it up. If they are still leasing under the old agreement -- heck no they are not making money.

That lease should have gone down on the virtue of everyone that used to be downtown now being in the cotton district anyway IMO.

Correct. They are now selling part of it. The vacant "left side only" is for

sale according to a sign in the window. Tom Smith Land and Properties is the listing agent for the part of the building that is for sale.

Took the family there last summer for Sunday brunch. They aren't busy at all, great. Placed order, waited, waited more, and more. Server twice tells us order is about ready. Then he comes out after 45 minutes, again 45 minutes and says they are out of eggs. Its Sunday morning at 10:30 and out of eggs, and it took 45 minutes to come tell us? Threw a $10 on the table to cover coffees and OJs and walked out, haven't and won't go back.

Starkville is the ultimate fail when it comes to restaurants/bars. It just can't reach beyond the dried up rural town standards of the past. If you brought someone in from out of state to visit downtown Starkville, they'd never know there was a large university in town. You'd have to prove it to them.

I enjoyed it a couple times but had the same problem with the eggs at brunch on Sunday and also a Saturday afternoon when ordering some hamburger(Godfather maybe). The hamburger is great when they have eggs...will give them that.

Yes, it is closing. They were renting the space, and rumor has it that the owner of the building is going to open a new restaurant/bar there very soon.

Theres an ooooold building between Restaurant Tyler and the coffee place thats for sale, $875,000! With prices like that for old firetrap buildings youve got to demand high prices I guess. Location, Location, Location.
