I’ve never seen Jacob Toppin play, but you know why he only averaged 6&3 last season?

Because when BBdK made his Toppin proclamation last year, he didn’t even play well enough to beat out all world superstar Keion Brooks for a starting spot.

I like Toppin a lot. He’s a sick athlete. I love watching him play, and am super pumped to see his growth this season. I’m just hoping to see the hype actually translate to on court performance for more than a game or two before constructing my perma boner over his ability. He’s been a college athlete for 3 full seasons, and has never been anything more than a 7th man. I certainly hope that changes.

The Barnhart era has been an unbelievably odd experience of genuine dislike from the fan base for 20 years.

From the moment he was hired with the directive to kill the “Good Ole Boy Network” of boosters who helped get UK football on probation, he was despised by donors.

The following year, Guy Morriss leaves and he replaces him with Rich Brooks and a massive amount of football fans aim their hatred towards him.

From that point on, he has been forced to operate in the shadows with what seems to be an intentional avoidance of making public appearances at football or basketball games that would require him to address the crowds.

While the non basketball sports have been upgraded tremendously (except for baseball and his bible thumping buddy), the only real appreciation for him at UK has come from the coaches and administrators themselves.

Now, if it has reached a point where the 2 most prominent coaches on campus are showing outright disrespect towards him, it really should be time for him to move on with his life’s work.

I didn’t watch the Mitch response, so didn’t realize he said “…and if you don’t like it, coaches change a lot in this business” till I saw the MJ video.

He’s got a little BJW in him! I actually like it…

…in a WWF spectator sort of way. This whole is surreal and a media jock’s wet dream.

I do not like Mitch calling out both coaches at all. Stoops needs and deserves his practice facility. Cal does not. If we can pay for it, fine, but making stupid blanket statements like Mitch did probably doesn’t help his relationship with the football coach we can’t afford to lose.

To me, Mitch’s biggest failure is not being on speaking terms with the highest profile person in the state, also his employee. I mean it’s one thing to have an up and down relationship but this seems to have been going on for years. At some point, he has to look in the mirror and realize he is at least as much to blame as Cal is and being the boss, you could argue more to blame.

- No team in the country may have a better pair of shooters than Reeves and Fredrick.

- My starting lineup:

Wheeler
Wallace
Reeves
Toppin
Tshiebwe

That said, if Toppin and Livingston shoot well and put the ball on the floor well, I can handle them playing together. Still want one of our deadeyes in at all times.

- This team is like Cal’s old Memphis teams with a bunch of interchangeable guys who can drive and kick.

That makes me wonder if that plays a role in Cal not wanting to depend so heavily on shooters. In general they aren’t the type of players that like to play through contact.

Hard to not like Collins in the lineup often - maybe starting some games

Just watched the last game vs the CB Natl team & really love the depth we have

Matt's periscope just now says Cal wanted to apologize and issue a public statement as soon as he found out Stoops reaction but was told by Mitch to leave it alone. And here we are. Said he thinks Stoops and Cal will be fine and will blow over but Cal not likely to forget or forgive Mitch's comments from today.

I fully believe someone told media outlets this (someone I assume close to Cal). I just struggle to believe his actually happened. For the last 6-8 years we’ve been told nothing but Cal doesn’t respect, listen to, or even give MB the time of day. Now, during one of Cals biggest PR goofs, the story is he didn’t apologize to Stoops publicly because he listened and Mitch told him not to? Makes little to no sense other than to push it off Cal.

I don't know, just going on what Matt said. It may make sense if Cal went to Mitch only because Stoops wasn't returning his messages. I don't think Barnhart is Machiavellian enough to have done it so Cal would look even worse but I find it kind of odd Barnhart wasn't as upset with Cal's football team comments and Stoops' reaction as he was that Cal went over his head to talk about facilities,

What was the purpose of Mitch speaking? He should have squashed the whole thing behind the scenes.
He does the "State of UK Athletics" overview every year at Media Day. He was out of town that day, so they made plans to move it to this day. Just so happened he got a hand grenade tossed in his lap about 48 hours earlier.

Hey Geoff, is there new football turf? I thought I heard that it was going in after the Stapleton concert but have only seen the new video boards so far.

Mitch should’ve dove on the grenade and could have left it as a “no comment” and a “family business” moment…Alas, he fed reporters more red meat on the issue.

The old lady said that's what it looked like at times. I think he had the sides pinned up inside or something. Just looked bizarre.
Short shorts are in brother. You’ll see it more and more over the next few years, way more freedom of movement and comfort, it just makes sense, style or not. I wear nothing but short shorts because I’m a gangster too. Only works if you have the thighs for it, so unless you got some quads and hammies stick with the longer stuff so we don’t have to see your sticks lol.

I’ve turned into my middle school gym teacher for whatever that’s worth, sorry for dogging you Mr. Cantrall at West Hardin…you had it right all along, Kerry Kittles high socks and long shorts were too cool at the time to pass up though.

What happened “exactly” to Rex Chapman and his latest gig with UK?

I mean, he came back to UK and everybody was sucking his D, he was an official KSR goofy dude, made little videos, someone thought it would be good to put him on the pregame radio show, there was also some C-list celebratory desperate housewives dude that trolled around with him, Cal at least pretended to love him etc etc….looking back, it was extremely weird and beyond awful.

Then Rex vanished and became a pro Twitter douche. Nobody talked about him or mentioned him from UK. I guess because he’s black? That mfer did something. Assuming it involved drugs and him probably calling Tom Leach racist.

-cooler mornings=football is on the horizon. Giddy up.

-The nip in the air is prompting a little comfort food cooking binge:

-sunday: lamb shoulder roast w/ potatoes and carrots. Delicious.

-Saturday : pork meatloaf, homemade mashed taters and grilled wedge salad.

@anthonys735 ...soup season is upon us. I've been keeping an eye out for a copy this for sloot:

-also home cooks should not sleep on this:
