I mean they can always practice in memorial or Rupp. If the practice has a leaky roof already I hope they do more research into the construction company they hire. I feel like the practice facility has already been upgraded once under Cal but I could be wrong.

With all the money in that Univerosty that’s just unacceptable. We aren’t EweTee. Get it fixed Mitch!

As far as Rupp, the university doesn’t own it so it would have to be scheduled out. Hard to do.

Memorial would be the best option.

And take it from someone who watched a landlord make mistake after mistake hiring a contractor for the business I used to work at. Don’t hire the cheapest option. Especially when it comes to roofers.

Wheres Jeffyjeffyjeffyjeffyjeffyjeff I thought Cal gets everything he wants But He Doesnt does he, you know why he doesnt, i know why because its not the biggest money maker. It has nothing to do with wins and losses any more. Absolutely nothing.

Stuff happens. Repairs are needed. Not sure why this is a big deal.
One would think a multimillion dollar building would get yearly inspections. At my old workplace ours did. And that’s when we discovered the provokes contractor was an idiot.

Not buying a word about facilities. Our facilities are top notch, not sure about the roof or what’s going on there. I’ve been all over the south to other campuses, I work in an academic capacity at a university in Tennessee. I’ve been to practice facilities at UT, Florida, and Arkansas. I’ve also seen some others over time but it’s been a while. There’s no way UK’s facilities are a problem like he’s suggesting.

We’re not the “gold standard” right now because he doesn’t win. Not because of a roof. And our facilities have nothing to do with his inability to recruit players he’s been missing. Didn’t we just rack up the top class?

I have no problem with having the top facilities in the country. I have no problem with a coach wanting upgrades. But I fully support Barnhart telling him no, because Calipari hasn’t won enough to make demands the way he did before that contract. He needed to hear no.

And I fully believe Barnhart said no for a specific reason.

As much as I complain about cal, he’s right about the practice facility.

that place was cutting edge 15 years ago but it’s now a dump. Time to seriously upgrade

I thought it was reworked 10 years ago? And how could a facility possibly go from cutting edge to dump in a decade?

UK could adopt the logic my ex-town did when the roof on the middle school started leaking. Instead of fixing the leak, they decided to demolish all three schools and have two new super schools rebuild, at a hefty “tax levy” to the residents.

Hence, my ex-town.

Hey hey! We’re having that discussion now. Instead of spending say 20 million to fix up both schools we’re planning to let them rot and spent 15x that amount to building a super school. It’s not going over well and I wouldn’t be surprised if blows up to something worse.

Governments these days….awfully arrogant and cocky.

Y’all *** holes are making me agree with Ed. Stop it!
Same here!!

I mean hell, the facility is what? 14 or 15 years old? It's not out of the ordinary for things to begin popping up that require upkeep and regular maintenance.

I too just agreed with Ed. I must be losing what little mind I have left.

Let’s see. To fix a leaky roof with any and all modifications could be $250,000 to $500,000 and that’s first class job. Now compare that to a new Kraft center, 15,000,000. In the time of $4.00 gas, 15% inflation, the cost of college going up hourly what do we do? Easy, it $15,000,000 with another $10,000,00 for over runs. $500,000 vs. $25,000,000 when it’s someone else’s money It’s an easy fix.

It’s been a trend for over a decade. It’s all corruption. These criminals will use their friends or family’s construction companies to do all the work, go over budget intentionally, and everyone gets rich while your property taxes goes up $500 per year for the next 25 years!

The town I’m talking about already had property taxes of $4200 per $100,000, BEFORE the 25 year “school levy” mysteriously passed. We said “See ya!”

While I do agree with this, I also find it pathetic that it seems to be the only thing in his whole life Barnhart ever had a spine about. Something that might help us as a bargaining tool (since he’s forced us into a position where we have to bargain) but still hurts us now. Even if it is just a little leaky roof pain.

Especially since rival recruiters will now be making yuk yuk about our leaky roofs for the next 450 years. Well done, Mitch. Perfect time for them to drop.

Our school tax is outrageous for what it’s producing. It’s the highest thing in my property tax bill. Now with that being said being a child of a teacher I believe in public schools and don’t mind paying said taxes. HOWEVER for as high as they are? I’m not seeing results in facilities and performance.

I can’t move because of ungodly housing costs right now and part of me doesn’t want to. I like parts of my town. There’s just a lot that needs to be fixed.

Maybe Cal can get some of his multi-millionaire NBA players to chip in for repairs.
They’ve already done enough for tornado and flood relief. Snide remarks like that need to stop. AD literally just gave 350k. And these guys help out other communities where they are from and currently reside. I swear some of you think it’s all bling and weed for them.

That’s the bad thing. These politicians don’t know how to spend money correctly. You have to spend money sometimes. Just life. If you don’t want to spend money, hoarding sets in and you can become a miser.

No one LIKES spending money per se, but if you can get a good ROI on something or put money towards something that’s going to make you money in the long run, then that’s a no brainer. But we’ve got idiots in charge these days that line the pockets of their buddies or spending millions on something that either does little to no good for the community or becomes a hole you throw money into.

I thought Cal was complaining about the lodge needing upgrading, not the practice facility?
