Let me know when Wheeler is projected top 10 on draft boards. I’ve seen enough of Wallace to know his skills will translate to this level & he will be a better player than Wheeler all season.
Yeah so just discard Wheeler based on an NBA projection from a player that hasn’t played instead of just relaxing am watching it play out. Laughable.

I watched it play out last season with Wheeler. Wallace is a better player on both ends & not as limited. That’s based on watching a ton of his film, not draft projections. Although, the projections aren’t useless. Usually, guys projected in the top 10 are damn good, too. I hadn’t seen Wall, Murray, Fox, Knight, etc play a college game, yet, either, but, after watching their film I had little doubt they’d make a huge impact at UK. Why don’t you explain why Wheeler is a better option, without quoting his assist numbers.

I’m saying and have said to let it play out and if Wallace forces Wheeler to the bench, then fine. But I get it. Some have ants in their pants and have to anoint a Freshman. Funny thing, many of the same ones were whining about having to depend on one and done’s. Fickle idiots.

Assists don't tell the whole story for him IMO...too many turnovers (barely 2:1 A/T ratio last year), and his lack of shooting disrupts the entire offensive flow; defenses completely sagged inside the foul line on him all year. Now if his shot has improved...??
Actually his A/T ratio was 2.26, good enough for best in the SEC after TyTy.

My thoughts exactly! Our best lineup by end of year will be Wallace, Reeves, Frederick, Toppin, and Oscar. But will Cal stay loyal to Wheeler is the question.
Wheeler obviously has some shortcomings but he creates a lot of easy baskets. He also pushes the pace on offense and defense. Even when fully healthy last year we were at our best with him in the game. If we are better with him on the bench I’m all for it just find it doubtful.

We know what we'll have in Wheeler, Fredrick, Reeves, Oscar, and Wallace.

The season will likely come down to what we get out of Livingston and Toppin.
I would also add this season is likely to also coming down to Wheeler making good PG decisions to be pass first and set up the play before shoot.

2010- Elite Eight- 6’4 PG
2011- Final Four- 6’4 PG
2012- Championship- 6’2 (and strong) PG
2014- Runner up- 6’6 PG
2015- Final Four- 6’6 PG
2017- Elite Eight- 6’3 PG
2019- Elite Eight- 6’4 PG

Those are our best runs under Cal, and he has had a PG with elite size and athleticism each time. I don’t care if they are Freshman or Seniors, I just know Cal is better with a big, athletic PG running the show. There are outliers (Askew was big, but slower than smoke and Ulis was great despite his size), but for the most part bigger is better for Cal at PG.

that’s all good and great but has zero to do with my point. Discarding a player without ever seeing another is low class. But hey, anonymity breeds low class so it is what it is.

What I said was that we would be a better team with Wallace, Fredrick & Reeves on the floor together. I explained my stance on Wheeler. He’s 5-8, for starters, & a liability on defense. He can’t shoot, so, teams can lay off him & clog the paint, which makes EVERYTHING else harder than it has to be. He can’t go right & tries to do too much, too often, & has a tendency to play out of control, which has led to several bad shots & turnovers. What is incorrect about those points? I said he does some good things, but, IMO, we will be a better team with Wallace at PG, bc he’s a better player & we can play Fredrick & Reeves together, assuming Fredrick is healthy.

I don’t think we can win a championship with Wheeler as the primary PG, unless we have at least 3 shooters around him. And championships are the goal, here. Doesn’t mean I think he’s a horrible player. His flaws won’t hurt us against most teams. But, against good teams, with good PGs, we’ll be in trouble, IMO. The only proof we have is a first round loss to St Freaking Peter’s. What exactly about Wheeler’s game makes you think differently? Do you not see an issue playing him, Toppin & Oscar together for 30 mpg? If not, Idk what to tell you. Spacing is a must if you want to win a championship & we don’t have it with those 3 playing together. At least counter my points & tell me why I’m wrong. Not just that Bill Self wanted him. Maybe Self has some shooters to play with him.
It's just your opinion I get it, but saying his flaws outweigh his positives is a little strong. There were games last year when he was the best player on the floor. UNC for one. He started looking a little rough at times when our offense became stagnant and nobody was moving. That will happen with just about every pg.
This year's team has more players that can create off the dribble and get their own shot. Our offense should be levels better than last season.

Some of the dumbest takes are the one's saying Wheeler sucks. But almost all of their other takes are low IQ such as "Dillingham is a worthless recruit unless he reclaffies", so all you can do is roll your eyes when they "tell it like it is.".........

Forget the recruiting and ranking hype....the only real yardstick for measuring success is championships. Unfortunately, our coach uses other metrics to determine success and some of the fan base are buying into the hype.
You should call yourself disappointed...oh wait 😂

Says the guy with a different, ANONYMOUS username every week bc he can’t get along with anybody & is repeatedly banned. The irony & hypocrisy of this post is hilarious. GFY. You hurl insults at anyone who disagrees with you bc you apparently have nothing to add & can’t handle differing opinions. You’re the last person who should talk about class. Why don’t you try talking about the subject for once instead of lashing out like a spoiled toddler & attacking other ppls’ opinions, since you can’t seem to form one of your own?! I politely replied to you twice with reasons & facts backing up my opinion & you come back with absolutely nothing besides whiny insults with zero substance.

Maybe it was a little strong, but, I just don’t think we can win a championship with Wheeler playing 30+ mpg. I’ve never said he was a horrible player, or, that he did nothing good for us. I just think we’d be better off with Wallace at PG & Wheeler coming off the bench. If we had good shooters at the 2, 3 & 4 around him, I’d feel differently. I think we can win most games with Wheeler at PG, but his weaknesses will be exposed against good teams & bigger PGs, IMO. And, I’m a big Wallace fan & I love having shooters on the floor, who can provide spacing. I think that’ll be a problem with 3 non-shooters playing together. We disagree about it & that’s fine. I appreciate the rebuttal with reasoning. Some ppl can’t seem to counter an opinion without childish insults.

You wanted a reason why some want Wallace to get a shot, that’s why I would like to see him run the point. Nothing low class about it.

Was it low class for someone to want Wheeler to replace Askew last season?

If he is better, who cares how long he has been here? I want to win. If Wallace gives us the best chance to win, then I hope Cal is smart enough to play the best instead of playing favorites.

LOL! Low class? And your name has begok in it. LOL!

LOL! I didn’t even realize who I was talking too.

Now it all makes sense. Dude would argue with a brick wall if he thought he could get a reaction.

I dont think Frederick starts at all this season. 3 point specialist that comes off the bench.
Fredrick, if 100% healthy, is more than just a shooter, but my expectations for him coming back from injury is to be just that. If he can be a consistent shooter off the bench, then he is doing his job.

Which is barely 2:1 (not good) as I mentioned, and not even top 100 nationally.
According to this https://www.ncaa.com/stats/basketball-men/d1/current/individual/473 he was actually 43rd nationally, but a lot of those above him play for mid-majors, and only 1 with a better ratio had more assists than Wheeler. He was also 7th in the country in assists minus turnovers, with a net of 116.

And 2:1 has always been the gold standard for a good A/T ratio for a point guard, so I don't know where you come up with it being "not good".
