I'm with you, just need to see some proof 1st.

Fox and Monk are the best backcourt in the Cal era imo. Nobody could stay in front of Fox. Both were unreal athletes. Oh the days gone by.
Who were the 3’s we missed out on in that class? My mind is going blank.

we started
Fox
Monk
Briscoe
?
Bam

is that right?

I think he chooses UK but I still worry he will never play at any college.
And your concern is justified. It's highly likely he never plays college basketball. Wouldn't shock me at all if his mentor waits until the very last moment to pull the rug out from under you guys.

Don't really follow recruiting. Is this a situation where we get either him or DJ, but not both? Aren't we after a teammate of DJ's too? Wonder if we get this guy, and not DJ, will that hurt our chances with his teammate?
This is a situation where Cal is worried he's going to miss on DJ, so he's gambling on a kid that is likely to never play college ball.

Vanderbilt was more his handlers I think. And at least he had kind of an excuse. He had been injured. So I get “shutting it down” there too a degree. Still kinda selfish, but I get it. And he did actually play.
Dillingham's issues are 100% because of his handler. Rob is an amazing kid.

I think there was Sacha Killeya Jones, Willis, Gabriel....I know I am forgetting someone.

UK was a serviceable 4 man from a title that year....had everything else
I'll never forget SKJ. The kid from Chapel Hill that Roy recruited super hard, only to see him pick UK. Had he chosen UNC, he would have been ahead of Luke Maye on the PF depth chart. There would have been no Luke Maye heroics in that 2017 elite eight had SKJ picked the home team.

The truly funny part is what happened when SKJ decided to transfer away from UK. He sent his transcript to UNC and it was revealed that he took a bunch of bogus classes at UK to keep his GPA above the eligibility line. Those bogus classes wouldn't transfer, and it became apparent he was unlikely to ever become eligible at a new school because his grades in the core classes that did transfer were horrible. UNC turned him down as a result. NC State was desperate enough to take a flyer on him. But even after a full redshirt year including summer school, he still couldn't get himself eligible, so he turned pro without ever playing a game for State.

LOL!

Yeah I guess he wasn’t eligible to take UNC’s AFAM classes.

He wasn't eligible to play D1 college basketball anywhere after he left UK. Did you attend UK? I'm curious if you or anyone who did attend UK has any insight into which classes SKJ would have been taking to keep himself eligible to hoop while in Lexington?
Don’t really care. Just find it funny that UNC rejected anyone based on grades, considering their past.

I probably care as much about the classes that SKJ took or didn’t take as you do about the 30+ years of fake classes that UNC players took while playing for Dean Smith and Roy Williams.

Fox and monk were electric. Top players for UK no doubt. Dilly is just very impressive with his all around game and shooting. Believe he’s shooting 40+% from 3 and even draining nba range regularly. If he can hit that clip in college with his bag he’ll be nearly impossible to stop. DJ is DJ we all know why he’s great. They also benefit of playing in a much weaker class than Fox/Monk so it’ll be easier for them to transition into dominance imo. Fox/monk had to play some tough teams that year.

Your monk obsession is impressive.

I prefer the Knights to the Monks. Guys that actually can’t find humor while being blown out to rival teams as they sit on the bench.

Tom it’s nearly time for us to be down in New Orleans smashing some trannys on marty Graw!! Wait for my call big boy.

There has been no harvest for some time.

And the bad apples are not just Sharpe. The "me-first" apples are everywhere these days.

Sharpe
Askew
Boston
Montgomery
Vanderbilt
SKJ
Baker
Juzang
Whitney
Green
Wynyard
Gabriel
Matthews
Fletcher
Brooks
etc.

That's certainly a lot of "me-first" bad apples.

I'm just glad the coaching staff "is properly identifying" kids that want to be here.
I don't know that I'd put Brooks in that group. He was here for three years. I don't ever think it was a case of him not wanting to be here, I think it was a case of him discovering he had reached his peak and needed a change of scenery else he would be passed up by Toppin. I have no ill will towards Brooks and his decision and hope he does well in a situation better suited for him. Not sure why Boston is on the list either. He gave us a decent season then bolted for the NBA, never saw him as a "bad apple".

Derek Willis was the starting 4 man on that team.

Was a perfect fit IMO being a stretch 4, but probably just wasn't overall talented enough.
Willis played 22mpg, and Gabriel 18.

Hawkins 19 (G), Mulder 10 (G), Humphries 8 (C) also contributed.
SKJ & Wynard were there for practice.

Just because it never gets old to point out what a rotten fraud Roy Williams was. This guy is permanently enshrined on Chapel Hill's Dean List rolls...LOL.

Willis is one of my least favorite Cal players. He was absolutely talented enough to make that wide open corner 3 or any of his wide open 3s against Indiana the previous year in the tournament. He was talented enough to be within 5 feet of Maye on that last second shot. It was between the ears - dude was lazy.

We needed a legit small forward that year and Miles Bridges was that man. We win the title with him.

If it were like that they probably had him taking a bunch of 100 level classes like eng 101 or com 101 stuff like that of introductory classes if it was like that

Juzang got homesick, which happens to everyone, and again, he still played and played for his other team. Hard to say he’s a “bad apple” at all.

Askew just got in over his head here and tried to go somewhere where he could be more impactful. And then Beard dropped a pressure bomb on him there. Again it a “bad apple” per se.

The rest of that I can see.
Baker??? He came off the bench and significantly helped win our tournament game against Wofford with his defense. Yes, defense. Some guys just want the opportunity to play the game they love and sacrifice for. Not all that leave are bad apples.

It’s like the KU fans that stalk the boards an talk about a beat down when we just got off probation as the greatest thing that ever happens to them.

Or try to claim they are better than us with half the titles, and less than IU.
