God bless your wife and may the good Lord deliver her from the smoking habit. I smoked for many years a pack and half a day and drank alot of alcohol but God took these habits from me over 20 years ago. God bless.
Chevy that's great news and you are right about God’s power over addictions!
I will try to get her to pray for help from God to stop. I pray for her all the time but your post has made me see that she needs to pray for help with the addiction as well!
Thank you and may Jesus Bless You!

H H, I am praying and trusting God for your wife's healing from the addiction of nicotine and cigarettes. I have experience the sorrow of watching a family member die a painful death from them and can relate to how you feel.

May God be with you and answer our prayers for you lovely wife.

Prayers and Blessings, I went cold turkey for my daughter 14 months ago. It was so hard to do, more habit than anything, I was always looking for them, it can be done!!! Prayers, without God you Fail.
And Another thing if you hate because what is said on here, you got a big problem I would say, we are all so passionate about Kentucky, but idiots are weak minded and they do hate, let’s get that wife of yours smoke free, it’s time,
Congrats on stopping bluefaithful. I dont hate anyone thats why I used the term disdain and even then it was more being facetious than anything else.

North Carolina BC,

Thats awesome and Im proud of you for stopping. She told me just now that maybe she will try the gum.

I’ll bet she’ll get a little buzz from it..that will be the signal it’s not a nicotine problem but a habit problem. What I hear from smokers is that they struggle the most with not having anything to do with their hands and the hand/mouth habit drives them nuts as they try to quit. For men, a toothpick would work… not so much for women.

Im a Christian and have been since 1990.
My life changed that yr as I was saved, Baptised, married and the Reds went wire to wire and won the WS.

Im a sinner saved by grace but thank you for your concerns for my soul as I am becoming more and more concerned with other peoples souls as well because eternity lies in the balance. An eternity of hell fire or tranquility. God Bless.

That’s awesome to hear HH! God Bless you and your wife!

I hope I didn't miss anyone as I tried to respond to all of your kind and loving posts for my wife and I.
I want to thank the Mods for not shipping this to the Paddock because we all know the most people read and post on the main board.
My wife says she will try the gum but that it is very expensive. I told her that her life is worth every penny and that cigs aren't cheap either!

God Bless all of you and remember we are all in this crazy world together but we have hope in eternal life and everlasting salvation thru Jesus Christ our Lord.

Prayers to you and you your wife, @HerrosHeroes. Hoping my wife and I can both kick the smoking habit as well. We’ve been talking about it for awhile now. Wish neither of us would’ve ever smoked the first one.
I’d like to take you to visit my mother in the hospital with me. I have a feeling you’d want to quit immediately after walking out. It’s so scary to see what smoking has done to an amazing person. My mother is a frail shell of a woman right now, face swollen all around, body so weak and broken, can’t breathe, CO2 so high she has been poisoned (she was on oxygen prior), it’s terrible man. Just imagine you can’t take a breath, and imagine how panicked you would become if you couldn’t take a breath; imagine the fear of death. Now, imagine that happening about 50 times per day. It’s terrible man. I’m praying for you my man. You can do it, and so can your wife.

I know most of you dont particularly care for me and thats fine because this goes way beyond our mutual disdain for one another.

My wife of 32 yrs is basically a chain smoker and has been for about 15-20 yrs.

Im talking a pack a day, fortunately Marlboro select which is lighter than the Cowboy killers but still.

I have prayed and prayed til Im, well …Blue in the face and for years and nothing helps.

Im asking you guys who I dont even know to please pray for my wife, she is 54 yrs old and she is a Christian but she is literally killing herself and Im losing hope.

Thank you to those who have enough of a heart to give a rats *** and lift up in prayer to Jesus Christ for my wife.

Thank you and God Bless.
I will certainty pray for your wife and you !!

Praying for you and your Mrs. HH.

I quit over 30 years ago. For me it was more habit than addiction. My smoking would come and go...always after eating or with coffee/drinks. If I was sick, I would go days without one. Finally just quit one day....and glad I did.

Slugger Cat, Im praying now for your wife.
Thank you for praying for mine.
Brother we need it!!! I was sharing this post with my wife this morning. I try to not be harsh toward her because she has RP and her sight is deteriorating rapidly...smoking definitely makes it worse according to drs. She gets depressed because she can't do things she loved to do. Was a very good avid bowler, loved tailgating and going to fb games.
Hopefully thru everybody's prayers they'll get thru this and kicked this demon down the road.

Herro's, I found out that Chantix is no longer made. There is another pill that's supposed to be like Chantix. I know it sure worked for me.
Best of luck to your wife.

As someone who gets physically sick just being briefly exposed to cigarette smoke, I will pray for you and your wife. I am so sensitive to smoke that just walking past someone smoking next to a Walmart entrance causes me to have flu like symptoms for an hour. Believe it or not, I also have reactions to the smoke smell that sometimes is on my mail. Fortunately, it doesn't happen too often. But, someone is doing a lot of smoking in a closed room or truck with my mail sitting nearby.

You have my prayers too. My Username would imply to those that know that I’m into tobacco. And I have been, but no longer. But it made my living for over 30 years, and got my kids through school. It’s a touchy subject, and being on both sides of the subject, it’s conflicting to me also. Wish your wife the best, and I mean that. But please don’t condemn the industry. Tobacco literally made much of Kentucky.

I have been a heavy Dipper and been a heavy drinker “beer” for the last 9 years since I got out of the military. This past Week I got COVID and became very sick. While I was sitting in quarantine on Tuesday I did some soul searching. My doctor called me in Vivitrol in the pill form. With a little bit of that and a whole lot of Jesus Im 4 days clean of alcohol and nicotine. I guess my point is help is out there and I pray she never buys another pack.
Go to an AA meeting. Dont have to say anything. Just listen.

Aloha Herros
i've never thought about you as you described yourself in the opening of your OP.

Cigarette smoking, and they related tars and nicotine are a killer -we all know that! But nicotine is also a heavy and addictive drug.

I appreciate you reaching out to all of us guys to pray for your wife. As you can see from above many of the guys think we'll of you and are reaching out to you to pray for your wife.

I am praying that His holy hand will be upon you at his hand or touch your wife in such a way that she will feel His presence and she will know that this is the beginning of the end for her lifetime affair with cigarette smoking.

I am praying that you also take all the other necessary steps, as some of the guys have outlined above, to get her into treatment. Regardless, prayers will be sent out for your wife for your patience. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior I pray. Amen.

Praying for your wife to stop smoking in Jesus Holy Name.

My Dad smoked 3 packs a day for 30 years and tried to quit several times and couldn't. But one day he bought a pack and left them in his pocket unopened and finally stopped smoking. If he can quit, I have faith that your wife can too.

Its crazy because I have dabbled in cigs but I guess Im just not cut out for it. Head aches, shortness of breath, clogged ears, chest pains, numbness down my legs etc.
But my wife? She smokes em like candy. First thing in the morning all the way up to right before bed and everywhere in between.
Im hoping that this means it wont get her so fast but Im concerned now that she is in her 50s and is showing no signs of stopping or even slowing down.
When I tell you guys she has smoked 100s of 1,000s of cigs it frightens me to the point of tears.
If I had smoked all the cigs she has I guarantee you I’d be long gone!
She says she is going to try the gum but is unsure about the meetings. Plz pray that she will chew the gum and trash the cigs!
Thanks again for all the prayers, kind words and suggestions.
I literally don't know if I could go on without her.

First of of all let me say I think you’re more well liked than you think. I know I like you

it was great to read some of the stop smoking stories..but I’d like to offer a different viewpoint to the gentlemen here

I’m a smoker too. On one of my many tries to quit my doctor told me something interesting: overall, it’s actually much harder for women to quit than it is men. There is a psychological component to the habit that’s difficult to break for most women. Chantix gave me nightmares and overall anxiety; Wellbutrin (which is how my husband quit) made me a zombie. Neither helped me quit. Nicotine patches made me break out and the gum made me sick to my stomach…they didn’t help either.
The only time I was able to quit smoking was when I carried each of my children..
Basically…what I’m trying to say is keep praying but have patience..the usual mind tricks don’t work on us
Best of luck and love to you friend

BK Thank you. This is basically what I figured. We are just built differently. Maybe thats why she smokes snd smokes and smokes and never has side effects. But me, I smoke one and am dying. Not always but some times. I took smoking back up during basketball season as it helps me cope with the tension and I like smoking in cold weather too. But about a month or 2 ago I smoked one and think I was having a mild heart attack afterwards. Thats when I said enough. Thanks for your prayers BK.

Sometimes it’s hard to know what to say when you’ve spent many a night on your knees with the same prayer in mind. Consider fasting as well. It’s also prayer and helps you draw close to Christ through intentional suffering. Christ sees you. Christ hears you. Always know this.

Prayers for your wife from a Duke fan. I only smoked for a few months long ago after dating a smoker, and it was really hard. The hardest thing is associating it with a break. Or using it to wake up in the morning. Luckily I had a dog who went for lots of walks and I drank tons of coffee.
