Arkansas,Auburn and Tennessee clearly will be in the hunt for the SEC next season.Florida will be much improved even with a new coach.
As for UK,we are absolutely in top 4 but to many unknowns currently to say we are the favorite.Could be just like last season and finish 4th but opportunity for 1st.

UT also just grabbed a sleeper in Jefferson. We’ll see if Thiero or this kid was the best catch.

You know the answer to that already lol...Jefferson will get playing time under Barnes as he uses his bench.
Thiero,if he stays, may be a good in a few seasons.I wish he was lightning in a bottle and surprised everybody.Of course he may just do it but I have doubts. We shall see.

So James, with almost identical stats to Brooks is going to blow up this year but Brooks is not wanted back by many of the guys on this board. How do you make sense of that having anything to do with basketball ability.
Brooks would absolutely make us a better overall team next year. We need bodies and we need talent now that Sharpe is gone, hopefully he somehow makes it back to us.

This will be a defining season for Cal. Does he still have it. Can he develop this roster to compete? Or will we get manhandled throughout the season?

I hink this season determines how much longer John Calipari is at UK.

I’d like to think so but Barnes owns Cal and he can’t beat Bruce either lately so that means we are third assuming we don’t blow other games we shouldn’t.

I’d replace Auburn with Alabama in that. I think Auburn will struggle next year based on their current roster. Bama has some good players going in too.

I have always said that I want Brooks to return.

Let Toppin be the SF and he will excel.
Toppin would have to tighten his handle and improve his shooting to play SF I think. He and Brooks unfortunately had the same strengths and weaknesses last year. If either/both could improve in those areas it would help us a lot.

Agree, I think Toppin has superstar in him just like his bro. Would be perfect if he came into his own next season with a large role at either forward spot. He could be Cal's "ace in the hole."

Bad news for us.
Yeah, James was really coming into his own in the last half of the season. Specifically, he seemed to go from suspect 3pt. shooter to begin the season to pretty good by the latter part of the season. Good return for TN's team. He looks like he could (didn't say will) go on to be one of the better SFs in college next season.

Much improved ball handling or shooting would make Toppin a problem for other teams at the PF spot. If he can get both going (say 34-36% with 2-3 attempt per game and some drives on PF defenders), with his athleticism, I think he could be dynamic. But, of course, there is a lot of "if" in that statement.

Jefferson played at Richardson HS with Cason Wallace and Alabama signee Rylen Griffin before transferring to Minnesota Prep. So all three guys made the SEC at Power 5 level--originally Jefferson signed with Tulsa but got out of it.

What's James thoughts on the Rupp Arena name?
