So even the G League didn't invite him but there still needs to be an announcement? Good grief.
He's really going to get his chance this upcoming season.No more looking behind his back at Brooks if he makes a mistake.Let's hope he can take advantage of it.
Good. I look forward to watching him get some more minutes this year
I think coming back to college would best benefit the kid.
Suprised it’s taken this long. Maybe it’s a don’t need to announce because he wasn’t ever leaving but nowadays you need the 10th man here to have a notice of return.
I think Toppin could play overseas if he wanted. Just hope he returns to our team.
Crazy how many mistakes Brooks made with no repercussions at all, whatsoever. Hopefully Cal won’t forget about Toppin next season. Especially in win or go home tournament games. What a crock.
Brooks sucked. Period. End of sentence. Do you want a PF that floats from 12-16 feet always? Then he’s your guy.
The hate for Brooks is one of a kind in BBN. Funny too that the guy put up career numbers that are essentially a mix between Daniels and Hayes who everyone loved but he still gets blasted. Sure they were better all around but it wasn't like Keion didn't have any game at all.
Keion was an ok player but often disappeared for stretches and struggled defensively at times.
Was ready to see him move on and look forward to JT next year. Don't think Brooks sucked though. Explosive ahtlete, just never met full potential skill wise or didn't have it...wish he could have put ball on floor better.

Chuck Hayes never disappeared. Erik Daniels never disappeared.
Hayes disappeared in OT vs. Michigan State. Didn't go into the game at all. As a result we didn't go to the FF that year.
Explosive athlete? Don't "hate" anyone, but let's be real. I believe Toppin will shine this year, and is most definitely an explosive athlete.

If Toppin is not even getting an invite, why is it that everyone concludes he is going to "shine" or be some superstar? I am not saying that can't happen, but so far from what has been observed on the court is Brooks beat him out for that spot, he sometimes looked good and other times didn't.
Toppin has all the athletic tools, taller than Daniels and Hayes, can jump higher, decent handles, okay shot, I think it's all between the ears, if he can put it together.
Yet there are some that believe the current roster is loaded
this team has a lot of holes, yet the "coach" does nothing to fill those holes for fear of hurting someone's feelings
this is why UK has fallen from the top of the mountain into an after thought
Agreed. Guy is gonna end up a Rafters whipping boy this season, with only Wheeler taking more heat. I think Reeves may be a target as well as he will be compared to the artist formally known as the 12th man on a game by game basis everytime 12th has a better game.
Had Hayes fouled out or did Tubby screw the pooch per normal? I cant remember.
A guy can be a great college player and have almost no NBA potential. IMO Toppin can be a really good player for us this year and make a lot of money playing ball over seas at the least.

Seems like you are underestimating him to me. He is a great athlete. One of the best in college ball I saw last year. His ft shooting tells me he can be a better shooter than he has shown but you're right that he hasn't shown it so far. He has all the tools to really help us this year especially rim protection.
I don't think we need him to be a Superstar because I think Oscar and Wallace can fill those shoes.
The 96 nor 12 Cats are not walking thru that door.
EVERY team has holes. This team looks as good as any other top team right now.

Has there been an announcement on Brooks? I know he announced his intentions to "test the waters" for the upcoming draft. And, I know he announced he is entering the transfer portal. But, that is no guarantee he won't be here next season. It would not surprise me to see KB back at the 4 gathering 25+ mpg again.
If that’s your takeaway from Chuck Hayes career you are more broken than even your posting indicates.
One significant difference between Toppin and Brooks is their demeanor/attitude which is also why one is more liked and popular and will continue to be so.
Brooks was poythress 2.0. physically capable of dominating and would on rare occasion. Unfortunately the rest of the time he was just mia.

Tubby...that's when I was officially done w/ Tubby. One rebound away from the Final 4 and he's got Chuck on the bench.

And I do remember the sequence you are referring to when Sparty got 4 or 5 offensive rebounds and final hit a dagger 3.
That game will haunt me until the day I die.

Yeah we don't have 96's coach either. Cal probably would have found a way to lose to Syracuse in the final that year.
Lots of UK media say he's done here, a mutual agreement that his moving on would benefit everyone involved.
If not for MKG's heroics 2012 might have failed.
