Some of the same people bitching yesterday that this guy was going to Oregon and UK/Cal dropped the ball are now unimpressed that he’s signed.

It’s pretty funny actually.

I do think it is plausible, albeit unlikely, that the SDS kid could still come here. Altho I would’ve preferred Baylor, I will take Reeves and be happy. He could be a nice supporting piece.

They're disappointed. Reeves committing slows them down. It's much more fun for some here to say "Cal Sucks", "nobody wants to play for him" and other stuff you'd typically here from someone with a 2nd grade education.

Paul George went to Fresno State
Ja Morant went to Murray State
Kawhi Leonard - San Diego State
Damian Lillard - Weber State
Stephen Curry - Davidson

Am I saying he's a future NBA all-star? No. But plenty of elite talent at mid major schools. Their problem is they are lucky to have one where a Kentucky may have a whole roster of them.
I guess that’s fair. I respected a guy like Grady because he came from Davidson. Even though they’re technically a mid major, they’re in a competitive conference and they have recent success as a program. I was fine with a guy like Grady. This guy, ehh idk. I’ll reserve my judgement until I actually see him do something against this level of competition.

There aren't going to be a lot of Oscar Tshiebwe's in the portal. We got very lucky. Might want to lower your expectations for help from the portal. Cal needs to get back to getting the best of the best.
That’s the problem. Cal isn’t getting the best out of high school anymore. And he won’t in the future either. So our expectations have to be high to get quality talent out of the transfer portal. If not, we’re left with a roster that will win around 20 games and finish 5-6 in the SEC. And I’m not okay with lowering my expectations to that level of mediocrity.

If Cal was that worried about his defense then I highly doubt he would’ve committed here and Reeves would’ve went to Oregon.
We’re kind of desperate for warm bodies at this point and not much to choose from. Regardless, I do like the pick up.

I’ll certainly Take him…if we were to get someone better and it scared him off, so be it, but I’d rather have reeves now than wait, miss on someone else while Reeves headed out to Oregon.

Guess he is not interested in playing in the NCAA tourney.
Kansas has not missed a ncaa tournament since Reagan was president. In fact, in KU's current run, they have made the most consecutive tournaments ever. I see no reason for this to stop.

A voice of reason. It’s not necessarily “good news.” Would much rather have Sharpe. Would much rather have Scheierman. Don’t know how this dude will perform at this level.

Saint Peters players are like hmm can't play at these levels huh...

The 9 man rotation is likely set.

Don’t see Scheierman wanting to battle for minutes with all the wings we have.

Even if he is better (I don’t know enough about him to say) than all the rest, he might think twice before putting himself in a situation where he might split time with guys like Wallace, Livingston, Reeves, and Fredrick.

I see the rotation being something like this:

Starters

G Wheeler
G Wallace
F Livingston
F Toppin
F Tshiebwe

Bench

G Fredrick
G Reeves
F Collins
F Ware

This is how I figure Cal will do things. I would start a shooter in place of Toppin or Wheeler (or both), but that’s just me.

That team just isn't that impressive to me. I guess if Frederick stays healthy and reeves is solid there's 2 decent bench options.

Another kid I had never heard of in my life, from a college I had never heard of in my life, from a conference I didn't hear about at all last season, is the new UK savior.

Well, let's see how this one works out.

I like that team but that means UK would literally have 3 guards on their roster. I’m just not sure if you go into a season like that with CJ’s injury history. To me it’s a no brainer to get another guard.

Love it. Kid kept it quiet, weighed his options and didn’t need a dramatic and long drawn out announcement. Seems like a guy who’s ready to get to Lex and get to work. Also, I like that he has 2 years of eligibility remaining.

Hope Cal stays on Scheierman as he seems like a great glue guy who will do everything very well. Reeves provides scoring and shooting. Scheireman would give the team another shooter which is great, but what intrigues me too is him being a secondary distributor. Also with Scheierman you could have a pretty nice lineup of all 4 year players, not necessarily saying these 5 would be your starters but how’s this for a lineup?

Wheeler
Reeves or Fredrick
Scheireman
Toppin
Tshiebwe

I mean, it’s 4 guards but I still absolutely agree with your conclusion

I would love the Baylor kid to come here. Given the uncertainty concerning CJ's health and the unknown of how well Wallace will or will not perform at this level we NEED another proven shooter

He has absolutely no clue other than that has become a popular supposition for many here. Cj's souting report put together by actual basketball people list him as a better than average defender.
Some people post things they know nothing about. Most have said he is a good defender. Thanks for posting this.

CJ is known as a good defender, lots of deflections. Now after his injuries I do not knownif that will affect him, I would say some. Most here see a picture of him and label a shooter who can't defend. Lol. Never watched a game of him and drew conclusions.
