Our fans have forgotten, but title teams have guys like Fredrick as their 7th guy, and guys like Brooks as their 6th man - not both starting.

Ideally, I'd love to have Baylor and Sharpe. That's the type of wing duo that wins championships. It also would allow guys like Fredeick and Livingston to impact the game as role players, which is what they are. I'm tired of watching out wing depth at only one player deep.
Do they do? Look at the past title teams
2022- Started Dejaun Harris at 5 PPG
20201 Started Flo Thamba at 3.6 PPG
2019- Started Kheli Clark at 5 PPG
2018- Had a very balanced lineup with their worst player being Phil Booth who was still a double digit scorer
2017- Started Theo Pinson at 6 PPG
The notion that to win a title who cant start a player that might not be above average is false, teams routinely win titles with guys that are actually worse than. Brooks or Frederick in the starting lineups

Yo @HagginHall1999. Cal still dominating the transfer market because of Oscar alone?

Yo, @Jmeeks54thebest still being obtuse?

Toppin, Travis, Sestina, Mintz, Grady, Oscar, Wheeler have all been good transfers. CJ, probably?

I don't know what else you want man. If you hate everything Cal that bad just say it. Easier to be a hater or a homer than objective for most. More props to you.

Is it false when you start two players of that caliber, because that's specifically what I referred to.

Plus, this is Cal we're talking about. He doesn't get to Final Fours unless he's loaded.

Well he better get to work for the upcoming season because he hasn't got **** from the portal so far.

Agreed but seems they were waiting. Hell I don't know how it works, I'm just saying the transfers he has gotten over the years have pretty much all been solid players with Oscar being a star.

I don't know who said he was dominating portal anyway, wasn't me.

NIL money and playing time

If you're gonna go heavy into the transfer portal , then you need to be prepared to offer both.
NIL money can not be tied to playing for a team nor can it be tied to playing time. Period.

When people say Cal is going to “dominate” the transfer market that implies he gets his first choice more often than not. And this far he has not done that.

We weren’t even a hat on the table for Shannon. Didn’t even go after Pack.

Oscar stood out. And he was recruited, what, 2 years ago? Or three? Wheeler is ok and I do like him. But compared to PG talent UK was getting before he is only better than Askew and Harrow. Hagans was a team cancer but he was more talented than Wheeler.

The rest are not UK caliber imo. And they were also signed years ago. It was stated during the course of THIS season that Cal would dominate the transfer market just like he used to dominate getting top HS talent. He isn’t. He’s whiffing. And you’re only examples of him not whiffing aren’t from the recruiting period yall claimed he would own.

And I’m being obtuse. Look in a mirror

I just read that he grew up a Duke fan.Crap.
Honestly, I don’t think things like this really even matter anymore.

Today’s players seem to view these choices as purely business decisions. Sentimental stuff like where they’re from or who they cheered for as kid no longer means what it once did.

I would also add that, in the case of Brooks specifically, he does not make the kinds of decisions that would indicate he knows and accepts what his role should be (like a Theo Pinson or a Kihei Clark did). On the contrary, he routinely acts as though he is the team’s primary offensive option, and routinely loafs on defense.

At the risk of getting my head ripped off by angry fans desperate for good news. This reads to me like we backed off trying to wait for better options. Reeves is a good shooter and overall good scorer but that’s it. He can’t create for others, doesn’t pass well and is mediocre on defense. Somebody like the South Dakota State kid is both a scorer and play maker.
There is something about Reeves that makes him look average. We need another pure 3 pt shooter.

Having 3 point shot makers ride the bench and seldom get to participate in actual game action has ZERO VALUE!!

Oscar--Wheeler--2 frosh(nba draft picks)--brooks

subs--Frederick--Toppin---little bit of Ware

Where does another 3P shooter find minutes, based on recent history?

Why pretend?

how can you say anything positive about this staff
what have they accomplished?
All anyone talked about was getting Antigua back & recruiting would pick up
well he is back & recruiting is the same.........nothing
they can't even close the deal on guys that were ready to commit
Well his first year he got 1,5,8, and 15 still there’s that. I realize 15 left and 1 won’t play but that’s not on the recruiters.

Because he was ready to commit the day he got to campus and... still hasn’t commited?

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure this out.

Let me ask you this: what if the staff accepted his commitment, and then the kid from SDSU (who does everything well, not just score, but also shoots the 3 at 46%) wanted to come here but couldn’t because we took Reeves instead. Would you be happy?

Now, we may get neither kid. But as a fan I’m holding out for the elite player 100 times out of 100. If we miss out on both then so be it. But Reeves isn’t the guy to help lead a title contender. He isn’t even Grady.
Well the problem is Kentucky could use both next years team on paper doesn’t have enough bucket getters/play makers and both could of had a role on the team next year

Molinar is staying in the draft.
Is this what is being reported, cbm? Also, even if he removes his name from the draft wouldn't he still have to put his name in the transfer portal before May 1st to play for a different college team?

Ha ha ha Providence is eating first in the transfer market and Duke is eating first in the recruiting market! Damn we are down the food chain in both now buddy!

Miami, Fla seems to be eating decently as well.

Pack got 800k to go there.

Today Norchad Omier committed to them.

They both want to start. Baylor is the more complete player, but Reeves averaged 20ppg last year so he isn’t gonna want to come off the bench.

You have to start Oscar, and you have to have a PG — in this case Wheeler, for better or worse. That leaves 3 starting spots. So unless Cal wants to play a true 4-out, 1-in... then both guys can’t start.

I think he could of made it work but if they can get the guy from SDSU than it would be a good gamble but his list is going to very competitive

That's it.
