I have zero problem with Elon buying Twitter. He may even make some improvements. He will let a few of the people like Trump back on and get some applause from the right and then the world will move on. I don’t know that it was a great financial decision (esp considering the Twitter business model and the insane amount of debt he took on, much of it tied to his personal holdings) but it is his money and if he wants the risk, good for him.

But Here’s the problem for Elon or anyone who wants to run a social media site. If you let it truly be a free for all, it becomes a cesspool and people don’t want to go to it. If everything is allowed then it’s a race to the bottom and the shittiest content (and worst people) take over

If you moderate it, people will inevitably not agree with your decisions and it is hard to be consistent bc every situation is different.

So there is no real way to operate a “free speech forum” and make it appealable to the masses. Because the worst of people takes over. And once you police it, inevitably your own biases will take over

We tried for years to moderate the KSR comment section. It was nearly impossible and only led to problems. So we stopped. And now it’s unreadable. Multiply that by 100 million and you have

....says the king of blocking people because they made him look bad on his feed.

LMAO.

-son volt show at the burl was solid. Whole lotta cool/vintage guitars on display...home by 11 on a school night. Profit.

-opening act: ky gal...SG Goodman. Really strong. Fans of Childers/Simpson/Noe et al should investigate.

-nice lil 4 day fishing weekend upcoming in Miami. Gratis. The rep that set it up has me flying out of SDF at 630 am(thats ********)...his expense account will suffer the ramifications.

- I know it's not as much fun as speculating on roster/coaching moves, but in terms of the strength/conditioning position...there's a guy with local ties, proven success in college hoops and football, and he won't embarrass the program. If he's interested, I hope Clif Marshall gets a look.

- It takes a lot for me to root for a team with Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Grant Williams, but man, it felt good to see the Nets get swept last night. Steve Nash looked like a deer in headlights. He didn't HAVE to do this.

- Gotta think Cal will be interested in the South Dakota State kid. If he's already offering Peja's son, and the 6-8 shooter from Team Herro, why not take a similar player who has already proven that he can score on the D-1 level? Seems like most people have him pegged for either Iowa State or Nebraska, but what a nice potential way to round out the roster.

- HAVING SAID THAT....I'm not entirely sure why we haven't been linked to Courtney Ramey. Would have made for a nice Mintz replacement.

- It's one thing to have preseason Top 25 football/hoops polls, what with the portal and all. Those can be pretty quickly adjusted on the fly based on who's coming and going. But it's another thing for The Athletic to do their "State of the Program" series of essays about specific programs. There's still gonna be a ton of player movement, especially later this week. and as fall camps break. That's a lot of hours being spent writing articles that may be as obsolete as "Brady retires" articles at some point.

-I didn't know I was supposed to be angry about Musk buying twitter until I checked gyero. Don't. G.A.F. If anything I'm somewhat hopeful he ruins it so I can quit the habit.

-Driving the inlaw's car to Charleston for them this Saturday so its there when they fly down Monday. They bought me a flight home Sunday afternoon, not landing at ALI until around bedtime.

9.5 hour drive in solitude. Stag Saturday evening in the Holy City. Easy Sunday travel. Look like a GD hero to the family. Just an all timer for SAE, and a nice lil start of Derby week.

-Stoops giving Stapleton a jersey from the Joker era cracked me up.

-Concert looked cool. Had my daughter's First Communion Sunday, otherwise would have been there. Talk about a milestone, though. Sheesh. Kind of messed me up a bit with how old she's getting.

-Sunday afternoon (post 1C brunch at the homestead) 1/2 wynn gummie and some cold ones was welcomed. Earned, not given.

-Year 2 of TruGreen and I'm just happy as a pig in **** with that service. Yard looks dope.

-The 148 card: Steamboat Race party, Thurby, Oaks brunch, Derby Eve party. Chicago Derby day/night for a friend's 40th.

In year 3 I no longer have to explain to my Nashville employers that I'm off next Wednesday afternoon-Friday but am not taking PTO. It's Derby.

With all due respect, “Drive my car to my beach house; we’ll fly you home the next day, son,” makes you the help, not a hero. You’ve removed all hand you have in the family power dynamics.

I'm pretty neutral on both Chris Stapleton and Elon Musk.

Musk is obviously brilliant and amazing, but he's so weird and hard to listen to in an interview that I have a hard time enjoying him. Kudos on his ability to troll, though. That may be his greatest talent.

Stapleton --> meh. Has some very good music, but deduct 10 points for his most well known work being a David Allen Coe cover.

One thing has become abundantly clear, Elon Musk does not know how to run a business or manage money…

If I was trying to get a Doctorate in Anthropology I would write my dissertation on Topix and the Craigslist “Missed Connections” forum.

Speaking of ol Topix type stuff.

I have a former employee from a small central kentucky town who had his fiance walk in on him with her friend, in their bed, at their house, her recording the entire scene as she ripped them both a new *******, them trying to get covered up by the sheets. He looks at her and says "What? We were only talkin!"

🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

I just checked this morning and the video now has over 250,000 views.

Now thats some Topix type stuff right there.

I don’t get Derby. Like at all. Gambling on live sports is illegal and immoral so you get dressed up and watch some horses run in a circle. Whoop de damn doo. Give me Bengals spring workouts all/air.
