He was doing a post graduate year at his HS. He knew he had to be one year removed from HS to be draft eligible. He was NEVER playing anywhere.
I think you're dead on. He just picked the highest profile program that would help his draft status. Never intended to play and Calipari/UK fell for it.
But, Calipari and staff should have been smart enough to figure that out.

My regards of Cal as a person just hit rock bottom. He blatantly lied straight to every UK fan knowing what was going on. I will never again believe anything that comes out of the man's mouth. Only thing you have in life is your dignity and Cal just lost his.

LMAO. I'm sure Cal will be heartbroken to find this out

Here's a question...does Cal slobber and pose for photos with Sharpe on draft night? My money is on YES because of his ego.
Kid never played a minute and Calipari will act like he is singly responsible for him being a lottery pick. LOL!
Tweet by Cal saying "DON'T BE MAD AT THE KID, BE MAD AT ME" in 5...4...3...2...1...

We have two options here:

1.) Calipari was in on the scheme. He knew Sharpe's plans all along and chose to go along with it, even sacrificing other recruits to get Sharpe here. If this is the case, Calipari is a slimebag and doesn't deserve anyone's trust again.

2.) Calipari didn't know. This would have required him to be completely ignorant of Sharpe's graduation date (how does this even happen?) and allowed Sharpe to willingly sit on the bench when he refused to check into a game. If this is the case, Calipari is weak and easily manipulated.

Either way, Calipari looks like **** here.

Why, Cal and staff didn't lose anything. You all freaking out over a glorified recruiting miss.

It's #1. Look at the twitter blasts defending Sharpe, right on time. This whole thing is coordinated.

Fans are soooo short-sighted. Sure, we lose out on a superstar elite player next year, but just think what this will do for our NBA-farm-team cred on draft day THIS YEAR!

I have tears in my eyes just thinking about the announcement.....

"With the ## pick in the 2022 NBA draft....the X-city, fill-in-the-blanks select Guard Shaedon Sharpe-- from the University of Kentucky!".....followed by thunderous applause.....big hugs and kisses from Cal....and all the scintillating highlights of him sitting on the UK bench while we fought valiantly in an OT loss against a superior 15-seed.

You guys really need to get your priorities straight! The most important day on the UK men's basketball calendar is still before us.

GBB!

Cal got played. I hope this kid's belongings are sitting outside the residence hall already, GTFO.
He sped off in his brand new whip and multi-million dollar NIL deal as soon as the plane landed after the loss to St. Peters. Never to be seen in Lexington again.

Why would he stay?
did you not see why I saw? A coach with the NPOY and multiple veterans lose to a garbage *** St Peter’s team in the first round? I’d be out too. He’s a high draft pick that will get significantly more cash going in and he can develop better.

Losing to St Peters, losing record last year, no final fours in 7 years, this debacle, I mean we are giving them quite a bit of ammo to use against us honestly.

Think he wanted to play this past year, but the team was just clicking right when he came in. This **** sucks, Cal can never let this happen again. I wish nothing but the best for the young man.
Yeah I think that was a big part of it for sure. Got here and we didnt really need him at the time because as hard as it is to remember now . . . we could not have been playing any better or together. Then bout the same time they found out they might have a loophole to the NBA afterall and once that happened his camp was reluctant to let him play after that. Just a confluence of bad timing.

Only thing that would have made it worse is if they wouldnt have found out about their path to early NBA till late in the year when we werent playing so well and needed him.. Can you imagine the scenario where he played a few games and was all we expected and helping THEN they find out he can go early and STOP playing right when we enter tourney time! Wow.
