After years of singing the praises of beautiful StarkVegas, I've finally convinced the wife to join me on a weekend trip in a couple weeks. Besides the obvious choices, pizza at Dave's and lapdances at the Pony, what are some other can't miss attractions for a first time visitor?

Got to drive behind the wise center to the gate to South Farm and get out and smell the chicken poop!

Not sure early February is going to be the time to wow somebody with Starkville. Unfortunately haven't been in a while, but our trips revolve around food. Try to squeeze in Anthony's, Stromboli's, and maybe City Bagel, and find somewhere outside to have some drinks and relax, either downtown or in the cotton district, of course we're not usually there in February.

Go to the Guest Room, the Speakeasy bar under Restaurant Tyler. The door is located in the alley behind the building. Its an awesome bar and better yet, very few college kids.

+1 on the Speakeasy. Also Hotel Chester Beer Garden.

Commador Bob's is good in the Cotton Dostrict too. Heard good things about Three Brother BBQ or whatever too. Haven't tried it though.

I like the coffee shop downtown. It's called 121 or 129 or something of the sort.

They serve beer there in the evenings.

Also, off topic a bit, but there was an article in the Mississippi Business Journal about there being a brewery giving tours in the months ahead. It's located in Mayhew Junction.

I'm sure this has been discussed on the board and I"m saying this now in case chesus wants to investigate.

Yeah, I'd been looking into touring Mayhew. They're saying early to mid February for opening.

Mathew Junction is not a vacation hotspot. I can see touring the brewery, but tell your friends that you vacationed in Mayhew Junction and see what their response is. It was an attempt at humor anyway.

Mayhew Brewery isn't in Mayhew Junction, it's on Stark Rd close to old Cappes Steakhouse. Article today in Columbus paper said opening "first of to mid February"

If you actually like coffee, hit strange brew. Two Bros. is worth a stop. I'm also hearing that City Bagel is about to shut down. Would be a shame to miss it if so.

City Bagel has been less than good lately in the mornings for me anyway, bagels so so and service totally sucks even though they arent that busy. But, that BYOB pasta night they do Wed, Thrs, Fri nts is surprisingly really good and its been packed when ive been and when friends have commented.

Oh yes, there will be at least one stop at Strange Brew. I was a frequent visitor in the early 2000s. A shame if that's true about City Bagel. I really liked the place.

Yeah, February isn't ideal, but whatever. We also plans lot of our trips around food and booze. Just want to show the wife my old stomping grounds and find a less crowded if not quiet place to drink.
