Could Lakers have interest in Cal?

This wreaks of the usual college coach facing scrutiny wanting to drum up "please don't go" and this time around it's not going to work at all. Nobody is buying that in order:

1. Lakers want him
2. He'd give up the $ Kentucky is giving him/his family
3. He's a "god" at Kentucky? This Devaney doesn't sound like he's up to date with things

I've seen this ploy far too often and the fact is, nobody cares. This isn't the time to do it, yet the coaches always need a "hug" to reassure themselves. Get out on the road this week and WORK. 63 yr old retreads from CBB aren't the rage of NBA basketball and certainly aren't going to ail what the Lakers need to fix things.

I have been a huge fan of Cal’s but it really looks like he refuses to make some necessary changes. All great coaches have to adapt and he seems to be resistant to change. I have no idea if this article holds any weight but if so, you would think he’d jump on the first flight to LA.

Not sure who would be a better coach and recruiter, but I’m open to the idea and I thought I’d never say that.

God bless Cal’s ego. It’s very bruised. Just like my UK fanhood.

They just bought a house in Nashville in preparation of retirement in the coming years. Obviously I have no info but it sure doesn't fit that he'd want a job in LA; especially one that would keep him on the road

Oh Lord, if the Lakers are really considering Cal their front officer is worse than anyone could have ever imagined.

Cal is successful in college because he can mold these kids but his style of total control and iron fist does not translate to players making a bag and a half every year.

Love Cal and hope he doesn't go but if he does this would not end well for him. Especially with GM LeBron on staff. This just doesn't make any sense for either party IMO.

Yeah I don’t see this happening…Cal likes to have control and so does Bron…but anything is possible I guess.

The timing of this is interesting seeing how Aaron Torres who has gone to the mattresses to defend Cal even threw shade at him with an interview with Colin Cowherd yesterday. Mentioned how he understand why UK fans are frustrated and that it's not Kentucky fans being unreasonable with expectations but just sick of the things that have been repeated here numerous times--not getting top recruits, losing all the big games (Torres even compared the current UK basketball program to the Dallas Cowboys). So you have him mention that and believe Torres is a west coast guy despite being a UConn fan, but know Cowherd is, and this Devaney report which seems to have 0 info and more speculation comes up. The minute I smelled BS was "Cal is a god at Kentucky". This guy doesn't have any clue what is going on in CBB let alone at Kentucky.

Not trying to be a downer for those who want change to happen but just being realistic. This would make 0 interest on either end.
