Will this Cal hate ever abate?

Will this site ever be good for anything except bashing Cal?

Keeping him for years will mean Kentucky has been successful. Sorry if that bothers you.

i wish that were the case. but that contract means he can go the next several season without winning a game and not be fired. He can’t be fired for poor performance.

Do you understand Oscar will only leave because of a federal law that prohibits him from making money? That’s the only reason.
I do. I hope he stays. One of the nicest, most decent human beings I’ve ever seen. I just think there’s a lot of red tape on his situation. Don’t get me wrong … I’d like to have both of them but I just don’t see it.

A title will extinguish it outside of the ones who hate Cal for political reasons.

A final four next year will tamp it down some

Anything less, absolutely not.

Hates a strong word. I don't hate him, I just want him fired for his incompetence.

He's not a good fit for UK unless he can win at the level that is expected of him (which would apply to any coach who takes this job). We tolerated his BS only because he was winning, and if you're honest with yourself you would agree. I would be fine with him staying IF he would make the changes that are necessary for him to grow as a head coach. He seems a bit too arrogant to acknowledge his shortcomings.
I hate what he's done to the program. The level of apathy is unheard of in our fanbase. It's absolutely rampant now.

No. Although depending on who the new coach would be ppl will probably come around again.

Ppl on here love pitino again...although if he had the 1st 7 seasons he had at uofl here coming back plus with all the scandal ppl would want him gone.

Rephrase: if he can win in the post season.

It would be much harder to win at a level in general considering he's won almost 80% of his games here

Yes. Though not on message boards, it ended with Hall. And Sutton. And early message boards it ended with Tubby. Then BCG. It will end with Triple C soon enough. And on we go, as we should.
I think he means while cal is still at UK. The hate will exist for all eternity if cal doesn’t move on soon. There will be massive resentment and it will make the pitino disgust look like love if cal doesn’t go soon

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend."

Oddly enough, now Tipton is this board's strongest ally. He hates Cal and always has. He wants Cal gone too. He has this board and the quote from Carson that will bury Cal! This board will appreciate Tipton now! They have a common enemy!
Tipton also hates UK, how can anyone side with him?

Yeah I understand what he meant. But Cal will move on, and in my opinion, soon. History repeats itself. It’s actually repeating itself now if you think about it.

But, Cal is also responsible for bringing in mercenary players we don't want to be here. It time to completely gut the entire program. Tipton is like a wild fire in California. He can help us burn off the old so the new can regrow again! By the time he is done with this board's help, nothing will be left of the Cal regime and Tipton will either die or retire and we will rebuild with the help of the spirit of the greatest coach of all time, Mr. Rupp!
The Green Bay sweep, you lead the Green Bay sweep!! Lol

I work all day and come here to hopefully discuss UK basketball but just get thread after thread of Cal hate. Will we ever move on to talking basketball again? It's just ridiculous now. Even for Cal haters after 3,000 fire Cal threads it's got out of control completely IMO.
He’s got two options:
1. Leave
2. Win a title

I can’t see #2 happening. But he’ll get next year at least to prove himself.

I don't think it's hate, it's more like it's time for a change. It can be time for a change without the hate.
It's not hate. It's simply a growing, and perhaps now matured, awareness that the University of Kentucky basketball coach is incompetent, and that there is no possibility of a reversal of the downward spiral as long as Calipari is the coach. Such a high level of disappointment breeds a similarly high level of frustration, which leads to the many and varied types of posts that the Calipariphiles love to lump together as "hate." And of course, Calipari's arrogance and total lack of self-awareness doesn't help. But you're right, katwest ... it's not "hate."
It reminds me of the old story about President Harry Truman. People would often yell out spontaneously, during his speeches, "Give 'em hell, Harry." When asked about that, Truman said, "I'm not giving them hell. I'm just telling them the truth, and they think it's hell."

Haven't you seen Predator vrs Alien? All UK fans need to watch that movie. Tipton is Predator. Cal is the Alien. We are the humans!

Tipton doesn't really hate UK. He just hates the fact that we have always cheated and bent the rules, etc.

Calipari or any coach or player is not worth my time to hate. Most of us just want him to change or move on. He made some changes and it worked well most of the season but then he panicked and pulled back and UT cost uk big time.

He isnt winning another title here so I say what's the point. We have had some solid coaches stuck on 1 title here although pitino may have won a 2nd at uk if he stayed another few years. The problem is mitch and the Richie rich mofos aren't gonna get rid of him so best hope is he leaves on his own or moves to admit role after 2 more seasons. If this board survived 2 years of coach g they can deal with 2 more years of calipari.

With some of our nutcase fans, probably not. Those are the fans when he wins another Natty, will say he should have won 3 or 4. Those fans will never be satisfied with Cal, or any Coach for that matter.

I hope we do keep him for years just so I can come here and see how many miserable fans are still around.

Serious question, so why aren't you over posting "constructive" threads on say... tonight's Micky-D game? Instead you're over here instigating your "fellow UK fans" (wink wink). You don't seem to have a problem 'bashing' your UK brethren with whom you disagree on certain issues, on a daily basis. In other words, it's OK to be critical (i.e. 'bash') fans but not an employee of the University?

Yeah it’s beginning to feel like the last days of tubby albeit more damage to the program

Winning cures everything and losing spoils all.

Possibly minus those whose primary lens is regressive politics in the most ardent corners of that map.

Probably a major overstatement. We went from the toilet with Eddie to the throne with Pitino. Then, we went to the bathroom with Tubby but fell into the toilet with Billy. Then, we went back to the throne with Cal but, more recently, we are in the outhouse. We will be fine one way or the other.

The Cal fans are so quick to say "We had a great season AND YES THE ENDING SUCKED" as though saying that wipes away the horrible, embarrassing result. So they downplay the bad result but then OVERplay Cal's first 5 years here. They are the ultimate in dishonesty.
We didn’t even have a great season, though. We won absolutely nothing. It was very very average by uk standard

A major overstatement? The first non probationary losing season since the 20s? Losing to a 15 seed? This is actually worse than the Eddie Sutton days. Atleast then there was a reason. We have a coach now who is grossly overpaid, hasn’t won a tournament game since he got this stupid contract and got the contract after losing. At least UK could wipe their hands of Sutton and move on fast. According to some here and they say it with glee “Cals not going anywhere until he wants to”. That means the program is being held hostage by a guy who cannot win. Hasn’t beat a P5 team in the ncaa since when? 2017 against UCLA? This is the most perilous time in UK basketball history. The bottom has fallen out and everyone acts like oh well we can’t do anything. Why Barnhart isn’t already gone is a head scratcher and honestly the university president should resign for strapping the school with such a high non academic cost.

This is a tough time - and IMO - OPINION - this is dividing the Cal fans from the UK fans.

On one hand some blame the fans for making the fan base/program look bad - fans hating/not appreciating Cal (some would say for due cause - some not). "Who could do better?"

Others would say Cal and his results are making UK look bad - and sadly without debate - the decline has been going on for a MINIMUM of 2 seasons. (I know - 2015...).

This is a results oriented issue - not here to argue overall results. The fact is that most are "what have you done for me lately" types - and with that Cal is not getting it done. More and more frustration has built up, and more than ever, it is spilling out.

If Cal could have pulled off a Final Four this year - I think many would think the ship is being righted (is that a word?) and although not a title - most would think issues have been addressed. Winning covers a multitude of sins. Instead of a Final Four - we suffered an embarrassing loss after a humiliating prior season, other teams are at the final four, records are dropping (not in the good way), short-comings are being exposed and no real accountability or change has been addressed.

Clearly Cal/Mitch are not going to be able to BS their way out of this. Results or resign or remove. Many are done with "wait til next season" and "Look at this recruit" and "look at the NBA results".... UK fans, anyway, are done with all that - not so sure about Cal fans.
Stop. There are few, if any, “Cal fans”. Everyone on this board is a UK fan that has different views on what direction is best for the program. For the people wanting to fire Cal, and I’ve asked this in at least 4 threads without getting a response, who are you replacing him with. Unless you can confirm a better, realistic, replacement this just continues to be an annoying whining session from the anti-Cal contingent.
