Question about campus land and Chadwick lake

I was looking at this map on the school site. I'm assuming the green is campus land. Does the campus not own the land just to the right of Chadwick lake (which is in white)? Seems like a strange stretch of land for the university to not have. Speaking of Chadwick lake, I've always wondered where the source water comes from. Anyone know?

Research park is to the north in that circle road.

ETA: there are houses in that area in white but a lot of it is open land. Have always said it would be awesome to own that ground and to build a nice neighborhood there. You could sell the lots for a mint.

Not sure how far down the road they are, but in the area you're asking about, there are 2 or 3 houses set back off the road on the hill. I believe one has a sign at the drive that says Van Landingham (or at least used to.) Maybe they own the land?

The area to the East of "Perry Street" is not university land. I'm pretty sure there is a fence that runs along that road in the woods a bit. There's a neighborhood back in there, I believe. The entrance is off of Lee Blvd across from Chadwick Apartments and behind the Baptist Student Union.

Also, of interest, there are private condos over in Research Park now for sale. I would have assumed that was University land as well, but I guess not.

There is a sliver of privately owned on the West side of the research park between Research Park Circle and Highway 82. That land is where they built those condo's. At least that's what I was told.

Back when I was in college, there was an old abandoned cottage back in those woods on Perry Street. I'm not sure if it's still there or not but the remainder of that property is a neighborhood.

Too bad that fell through

Sounds like it would have been a big help for the local schools to have that kind of partnership with MSU. Thanks for the link to the story.

The neighborhood behind the Baptist Student Center is University Estates. The neighborhood west of Lee Blvd in the white area shown I think is Harned Hills.

It hasn't fallen through... Still in planning phase and securing funds
